So, I finally decided to mod my ST9K... NOT! It doesn't hold air at all, and I figured it'd be best to fix this while remaining stock. I took a bunch of pics. The key to the pump cap is popsicle sticks. I got one wet, trying my best not to scratch this thing, and wedged it under the cap. I did the same to second, and circled from the first one, pushing up. It eventually popped off very satisfyingly. The other cap is at the end of the barrel thing, just get your gun apart and wiggle the two brown pieces and it will pop off. The gun has some pretty awesome flashlight activator stuff too. The tubing connectors screw right off as well if you decide to replace the tubing, which I may do since mine seems to have dried up. I didn't know this at the time, but if you just want access to the pump, the yellow handle and that cap are the only things holding it in. Not saying this is a good idea, but you might be able to pop off the pump cap by just yanking on the pump. Anyways, here are the pics of the internals. Post here if you want more. Wow, that looks really nice. Much better than the cardboard or rubbermaid boxes most people have, and a much more different look than peg board.

In "Role Models", there's a point where the guy in charge of Ronnie ditches him at a party, so Ronnie walks home. He comes to apologize, and when the door is opened, there is a SM1.5K on the couch. I'm pretty sure it's that scene, I saw he movie awhile ago, but the gun is definitely at that house.

I don't get why anyone would get so uptight about this, how is purchasing one of these kits any different from buying a homemade from someone? And why would you even care what someone else is producing anyways?

Actually, Blue, I would care. But I care for an entirely different reason than all the other whiners who think that OMW parts take the modding out of nerfing. I look at it this way: I know how to make blasters that are reliable and very competitive on the field. But there are many people who don't, or simply don't have the time to do so. And at the same time I also don't like having a huge advantage over most other nerfers on the field. It's one reason why semi-auto hasn't really been seriously pursued by many nerfers - not many people can make stuff like that. I know that's why I haven't delved into it beyond a theoretical standpoint. Mod kits like what OMW is producing changes that whole mentality. Once they start producing kits for blasters that could potentially be more powerful, I won't have to worry about using blasters that have too much of an advantage over those of less experienced modders. One of the most frustrating things for me, in nerf, is having to dumb down what I make or else be required to make a ton of loaners. A company like OMW could really change that.

tl;dr: What OMW is doing could potentially even the playing field and allow us modders to push ourselves to higher limits.

I was talking more to ice and the others who have voiced fears about this part, I'm all for new ideas and products. I doubt that any part they make will change the playing field though; look at it this way: For purposes of just supplying people that don't mod with a blaster, a decent snap will still be only $40-$50. If you bought all the kits and a recon, you are looking at a ~$60 blaster that has a 50 foot lower range and only slightly better ROF... and it will still be shooting very expensive inaccurate streamlines.

mod lacks origionality. Based on a video game. End result is impressive yet questionable. Overall; nicely done. Kudos.

Where's the "deadspace filler?" Did I completely miss that in the writeup?

Originally there was foam in the barrel, somewhat like a straw mod, but people said it didn't work. I guess it was just edited out.

One note to anyone attempting this mod:

I don't know how it was for the OP, but pulling the orange piece off the end of the metal cylinder rod was EXTREMELY difficult for me. Way more so than the Maverick. I pulled as hard as I could for about 15 minutes before it finally gave way, but in the process I ended up flinging the orange end piece and the spring to god knows where in my room. I will probably eventually find it again, but for the moment I'm stuck with a non-working blaster because the thing was so damn difficult to pull apart.

So I guess if anything this is just a warning that it may take a lot of force, and to be careful not to lose the orange piece and spring.

Use a crowbar and hold down the orange peg with your hand when you pry, crowbar gives you a lot more control and your hand will hopefully stop the pieces from flying everywhere.

A nf of mine had a grey O-ring, it was horrible and deformed soon after modding. Nice to see that the mod is so easy, although the walmart around me still doesn't have them. Is the stock made of the same mushy plastic bars the recon stock is made of?

Nice write-up, very well written. I especially like how you kept the front piece intact to allow turrets to be swapped easier.

Also, are you having problems with the Strongarm barrels being too short/too loose for the [k26]? I would imagine that the blaster basically dry fires every time you shoot it.

I don't think it's even possible to fit a [k26] in the Strongarm. He said "It almost feels like priming an NF with a [k26] equivalent", but I agree with you; that still sounds like an awful lot of spring power.

I went to a war in that location, and it was not the best idea of a nerf spot. There were many, many kids who wanted to shift through our blasters, and a soccer game took over the field. Plus, the field was exactly what it was meant to be, a field. No trees or obstacles of any kind. I'd suggest you change it Falcon, but please keep it near that location so I can come.

I am wondering if the tubing can be kept internal. Can you push the hornet pump back a bit in the shell so the tubing goes through the original window, and then extend the pump length so it still pumps it all the way? The mod looks great though.

It's disappointing that this thread was revived simply to argue about ranges.
OP stated he measured ranges with toothpicks. Obviously this is not ideal but ranges will be close.
Weighted streamlines are much better than stock ones in higher powered guns, they do not spin out of control nearly as often.
Comparing Sonic shooting barricades to Streamline shooting barricades is like comparing apples to oranges.
A better comparison would be the Rayven, which as sgnerf has shown, are capable of hitting 80-100 feet; the same ranges the OP claims.
This mod is very creative and cool, something that is hard to come by and should be supported on this site.

Darthrambo, if you are going to call someone out over ranges how about you do the mod or similar mod for yourself first? You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, and all you have to say is negative and not constructive to the discussion at all.

Wow, that's amazing. I saw Black Foxes post in the Mod PJ thread, so I decided to try it myself and make a writeup. I'm glad to see it worked out so well for you.

Getting a a ball blaster to take more than one type of ball is a great accomplishment. Great work.

Also, another thing... Did you paint your balls to look like Poke balls, because they look awesome.

First you have to take the gun apart, not hard at all. Pull out the barrel and cut down the seam with a fine tooth saw. Once that's open, sand out both sides until 17/32 brass can slide through. The AR will fall out after sanding too. I chose not to open up that airflow hole, not sure if that was a good idea or not.


Now, I messed up on this part, but I learned from my mistakes. You can follow the pictures, they'll help, but the breach is simple. Like, REALLY simple. A single piece of brass needs to be super glued into the half of the barrel with the O-ring. Slide on the other part, and match it up to the cut you made earlier. Super glue that seam. Now, just take out your dremel and cut off all the stuff that is not on the orange of the breach. Make sure you smooth out all the cuts with a small fine file or your darts will be eaten.

And here is where I messed up. I put super glue on the brass and pushed it in the barrel. It cured before I could get it adjusted...


So I cut off half of the barrel and started over.


I sanded down the stock nubs like someone else did before, the stock can be easily removed now.


And I sanded part of the jam door like I saw in an auction on ebay:


I just removed these pieces, so now you can un-cock your gun when it's pulled back to avoid a dry fire. Not sure what else that did.

SO using this method have you lost any streamlines just by having them "shaved" to death?

Before I sanded the brass the darts were shaved a bit, afterwards I had no troubles with it at all.

What are the ranges?

Better than stock. It shoots streamlines, so getting ranges from that is not really going to work.

I forgot to mention that I put some electrical tape under the O-ring to help a bit, and that if you want to do that spring compresion mod, a NF plunger tube fits perfectly over the plunger and stops the spring.

Good job. But, what is the purpose of sanding the jam door?

Now you can open the door when the breach is closed.
