Great mod, Nice write up. It was very clear to read. I couldn't get the video to work but what are the ranges like- 60-65ish? Great pictures too!
Thanks. The video will work after a minute or two, you just have to wait. The ranges will vary depending on the spring, the seal of the plunger, and the seal of the turret. The other nitemav I made was banded because I used a wimpy spring. It got 60-65'. This has one of my strong springs in it eliminating the need for bands. Just from the velocity that the darts hit with, I would guess this one could top those ranges, but that isn't for certain. It gets roughly modded NF ranges...

Other than that, the mod looks very clean and well done! Good job, now just see about making that movie avi, mpg, or anything but mov.
Not in the game anymore, but it was great while it lasted. Thanks for the great years of fun, NH!

Yeah, my camera only uses quicktime MOV. files and I hate it. If anyone knows of some free conversion software, I'd greatly appreciate it. I tried to convert it with a cheap program and it didn't work very well. Here it is anyway:

Cartoon that is almost exactly how I made my nitemav but I had a NF firing case inside the mav. It doesnt work right now due to the air seal problem. The NF cylinder fits inside of the maverick very tightly AFTER you gut the inside of it. You have to do lots of custom cutting and fitting. They I hot glued the cylinder in and it's placement is just about perfect.

Thanks for the conversion, it's good enough.
So you're pretty much just pulling back the plunger handle as fast as you can? Looks like you can unload those 6 shots pretty quick, nice job!
This seems like a very good mod if you can pull it off.

I'm very glad to see someone post a write-up, but I'm also sort of sad because now many, many people will make them, and I won't feel special.
Oh well. It was just a matter of time.
Again, good job, as always.

hey cartoon, do you think you could possibly post pics of the peices you had to cut out. well, not the peices, but how the inside of the gun looks now without the bladder in it.
thanks
Bladder?
What bladder?
A bladder is an expandable tube of some sorts (Inner tuber, bike tire tube, etc) attached to an inlet and outlet valve. When a pump is attached to the inlet valve and pumped, air goes into the bladder and stored at fairly high pressure (High for childs toys, anyway). When a trigger mechanism is engaged, the outlet valve is activated, and the bladder releases the high-pressure air at a slow and (Fairly) constant rate.
That being said, there is nothing even remotley resembling a bladder in neither the Maverick nor the Nite Finder.
Do you mean the Mavericks plunger? The two orange parts the the main spring pushes together and the plunger catch are called, collectivley, the plunger assembly.
Sorry if that sounded condescending. I was just sort of confused when the term 'bladder' was used, as the Maverick is a springer, and has no bladder. Not even an airtank.
Oh, and a dremeled out Maverick casing isn't much to see. Just get a Nite-Finder plunger, a Maverick casing, and start cutting out all the bars and ridges that hold the plunger assmebly in. But, in the upper left hand corner, near the Maverick catch, leave that veritcal bar in, so you can brace the NF plunger near it.
Just sort of cut until the plunger fits: it's not really that hard. It just takes patience, and constant trying-to-fit-the-plunger-in-and-cutting-more-stuff.

Pat

I'm not a huge fan of the Maverick, and yet I'm a huge fan of the NF. Perhaps an integration of the two will really make things better. I really like the concept behind the Maverick, but I only use it for indoor wars for obvious reasons. But this is a great idea, I really should look into it.
Nice work, it's very clean and it looks fairly sexy.

Little side note, though...
This thread hasn't been touched since may of last year. Keep an eye out old threads; we try not to dig up dead topics.

I've done extensive searching for a while in the forums and elsewhere, and still can't figure it out. Is there someone out there who can help me?
Sorry to continue the dead thread, but this is driving me nuts!
Thanks,
Kalamets
P.S. - This is my first post (Though I have lingered for a long time, I am in NO WAY an expert), and I am a proud member of this fine community. Everyone keep up the awesome work!!

Yeah, I've seen that write up at least ten times, but what I really need to see is the dremmel work done to actually fit in the NiteFinder plunger. I have used this write up to the best of my abilities, but until I can see how the plunger tube fits in, I'm at a dead end.

Simply Dremel, Sand, Dremel. I used a drill bit to get the plastic sticking out off of theere then sand paper for a long time.
