I present to you a mod that i have yet to see doneon this site.

A front end swappable clip for the Firefly.

Posted Image

Persionally, i'm astonished by how simple this was. forst i opened up the gun and did the usual mods. SPring strech, and Restrictor/post removal. But before i put everything back together again, i just threw out the clear housing for the turret. It's completely useless. The barrels stick into the turret on their own. Leave the Reflectors in there, they serve as a threader for the barrels.

Next Step, Sut the shell as shown in the next 2 pictures.

NExt, that little orange piece that holds the turet steady when firing, Taek that out and saw it/sand it with a dremel untill you get this: It has to be able to flip down all the way to horixzontal. And take your dremel/boltcutters and chop that bolt on the front of it to about half it's original length.

I dont have any pictures of just the clip portion, but it you look on the first picture, you can see that the center hole of the clip is widened. I just used a simple grinding wheel to widen it so that the orange piece could flip up into it easier.

once you're done with that, you're finished. Here's a picture where the clip has been removed and you are looking into the front of the cun.

Enjoy :D

I left the electronics in there. Because without the barrels in there, it leaves the Flashbulb completely exposed. Great for a quick Blinding attack.

edit: Oops. forgot ranges

From what i can tell, i have lost no range at all with this mod. Any lost range is compensated for by streching the spring. I streched it to about 1.5 times the original length.

With my special Long stephans, it shoots about 45 feet. Stock Micros, about 30. Not all that great, but for close range, you want to have the ability to reload faster than the other poor fool.

If you do not have any replacement turrets lying aroud, you can make your own following the tutorial Here. Thanks Retiate!

Beat me to posting this idea! :D I've been thinking this for awhile, just never had a full firefly to work with (I had my friends broken one, but I couldn't test with that one) I't a solid idea though. Also, you want my turret for an extra clip? Just pay shipping plus like a dollar or so.

Thats a pretty nice mod/idea, though I don't have a firefly that looks very useful.

That is correct.

Not only does it help with stability and keep the clip in place, it just looks cool :P

Echo,
Very interesting mod, I just purchased a firefly and joined the forum last week (although this is my first post) but I'm curious as to how you managed to stretch the spring to 1.5 times its length. I stretched mine a mere 1.4 inches longer (yes that is accurate) and on the next shot, the black cyllinder EXPLODED. The front end (that which points towards the barrels) was ejected form the gun entirely. NOT cool. I am now in the process of re-building a chamber (aluminum with some unique end caps which I can machine at the lab where I work. I'll be sure to post my re-construction but for now can you explain HOW you managed this seemingly impossible feat of stretching the spring without the whole thing... breaking?
again, a fine mod and a better post.

i honerstly dont know what i did differently. I just streched it and put it back in. But i do that with all my guns. I'll look into making a way to make the plunger tube more solid. But i've been using this now for about a week, and i have yet to have any problems.
Did you put everything back in exactly as it was? Push the cap in, give it a twist, and the Seal on the front. The flat part HAS to be put in with the flat part down. otherwise, it does create unneeded stresses on the tube and could account for the explosion. Not that i'm saying you put it back together wrong. I'm just trying to rule out possible causes.

Edit:

I just opened the gun, and i didnt strech it to 1.5 times the length. it was about an extra 2 inches i added to it.

right right, no offense taken...
I suppose I was approaching this event from the wrong angle, rather than ask what special thing you did to the gun, I should be asking what stupid thing I did since yours worked and mine didn't.
I no longer have the plunger tube so pictures are unlikely but I'll describe what I know was true of the pre-explosion case and see if any of you can come up with any possibilities...

I know I replaced the blue FRONT ovular/flat-sided thing and its spring in the correct orientation. I also know that I replaced the rear-facing "cap" which twists ccw upon insertion. The plunger was positioned such that the notch on the plunger catches with the blue trigger catch (I couldn't have fired the gun had this not been true). And finally, The spring did not appear to have any impressive bends or kinks from my stretching. The only thing I noticed was that the central turns of the spring were slightly more separated than those of the ends. The front end with (as I deescribed) the blue FRONT ovular/flat-sided thing was the part that exploded. Essentially, it's like the plunger continued through the front of the compression cyllinder shattering the barrel-facing end up to about 1/8" up the cylinder.
This mystery is perhaps a dead issue for me since I will be re-building it out of stronger materials but If anyone has suggestions, the answer may serve to keep another firefly owner from reproducing my mistake.

I thought about opening my firefly but the thought if that scares me, I guess cause I read somewhere that it's hared to put back together. I also thought about this but didn't like the idea of paying $20 bucks each to get more cylenders to swap out and re-load faster.

I love the mod. I'm a sucker for anything with a turret, so now I must add this to my arsenal.

Nice mod Echo, I'll have to do this after I finish all my other guns I'm working on.

Wouldn't it be possible to make your own turrets out of pvc and some other materials?

If memory serves this was attempted with the RF20 turrets with minimal success. But who knows, with all the new innovations in time passed, I'm sure it would be possible.

It should be possible, you just need a material that will fit into the turret area with a good seal.

A friend of mine and I did a very similar mod a while ago. We did it a little differently, we didn't use the orange bit due to lazyness and also we did some madness with the two clear parts of the turret and some hot glue to prevent the turret from becoming stuck in too hard.

Unfortunately one time when my friend pulled it out of his bag the turret assembly was screwed up.

Going back to my former comment, has anyone else experienced a problem with exploding compression chambers after stretching the spring? Perhaps mine was faulty.

Brilliant. It looks like it would be very useful in a game, being able to just swap with a new clip.
