"Other" ammo question

I'm back for my once a year check in.
Looking for anyone that has a Caliburn, a chrono, and a willingness to answer silly questions. If you are near south central PA, I'd even be happy to borrow you and your blaster- I have the chrono and the ammo.

Before I spend the cash for testing this myself, what I'm looking to answer is whether some of the higher powered springer blasters can launch 50 cal FSR paintballs at the same speeds as nerf darts or faster, which are about the same weight. They are a hard shelled projectile, so the smaller barrel diameter such as 13mm may be needed to get a consistent tighter fit and provide less drag. I'm planning to make custom mags for this later if this works out. I'm not really sure where I'm going with this project other than being the nerdiest paintball player out there. Yes I am aware that low powered springer paintball markers are available, but they are not high powered, they don't shoot FSR shaped projectiles, and they don't look nearly as tacti-cool.

I'll probably forget about this post in a few days. Ill turn emails on but you can also find me on twitch under Ratzkie if you would like an instant response if I'm live, Friday nights for now.

Buzz Bee shells - print your own

I have designed and extensively tested 3D printable dart shells, compatible with all Buzz Bee blasters. These allow for compatibility with solid-core darts, as well as maintaining compatibility with standard buzz bee darts (which are somewhat thicker than regular nerf branded darts). They have better performance characteristics, and you should see an obvious performance increase over the stock shells.

The design has been optimized for both filament and resin 3D printing. You should be able to get good printing results without fiddling too much with settings.

Smaller caliber darts?

So, way, way back when the Vulcan had just came out, I had an idea. I don't promise a good idea, just an idea.

I thought perhaps a smaller-diameter foam dart might enhance performance, sort of like how you get a higher velocity out of 5.56 than 7.62 NATO, and I thought that it might be worth trying, say, a .30" dart in a specially modified Rainbow to see how that performs.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, and I'd especially love to hear if anyone's tried a dart smaller than .50".

Water vs. Dryer? dart saving methods

We have these aluminum trash cans just filled with darts (standard Nerf brand darts, hopefully I dont cause any eye twitches but we mixed all types. Elite, accustrike, zombie, etc. etc. Trying to get owner to look at off brand or to use just a single type in future). Not only do some of the darts get squished from hanging out too long at the bottom of can, staying loaded in mags too long, or just getting stepped on and whatnot.
I've heard two common methods to 'fluff' em back out:
1. Dip em for a few seconds into boiling water
2. Toss em in a pillowcase into a dryer on low (or a paper bag then use hair dryer)

Hoping hear your experiences and suggestions since I'm about to do a big
ol round up and give it a try. Is melting an issue? How long would you recommend?

Bonus round: I've heard arguments both for and against using plastic straws inside darts. Some say it helps keep shape and protects the darts from wear (all I can think of is 'hey, a reverse condom for darts') and others say it messes things up, doesnt fire right, and "messes up weight/balance". Gonna test it out a bit myself but figured I'd see if anyone else already gave it a go? I mean, I dig the general idea, but is it practical? Would 3D printing a thin sleeve do any good (although I can already see that getting expensive and getting shattered)? Or is it best to use a method above and/or just buy more? Any other dart life-expanding ideas? I kindof wanna spray a few with truck bed liner just to see what happens...

P.s - my bad if this has been covered, I didnt see it but my search-fu sucks and I may have missed it.

Original N-Strike Streamline Darts

I have 3 packs of 10 original N-Strike Streamline Darts I'm looking to sell, none of them have been used and they're all in their original packaging.

If you know someone who is interested in buying these, or you yourself are interested, please let me know, I'd really like to get rid of these.

I am well aware that these darts aren't very appealing for actual use anymore, but I'm hoping to find someone out there who may collect N-Strike Blasters and who might want some original streamlines to go along with them.

Full auto airflow questions

I am trying to find a way to create a system that continuously feeds Rival balls to a flywheel cage. In the photo below you can see the basic setup with the air pump on one end blowing into a Y connector which has a funnel connected to it, then a hose and finally the flywheels at the far end. (The funnel/hopper currently does not have an agitator but that's going to be engineering problem #2 so I am ignoring it for now).

When I drop a single ball down the funnel and then turn on the pump everything works great. When I turn on the pump first and then try to drop a ball down the funnel, there is significant blowback pushing the ball back out. If I manually push the ball down the Y piece of course it shoots out just fine. If I disconnect the outgoing hose from the Y piece and run the test there is no blowback and again the balls come out as expected. Question: how can I fix this and get a continuous feed of balls down the funnel and up to the flywheels?

Some parameters: the end goal is something like a stationary mini-gun where you just keep dumping balls into a large hopper. I know I could seal off the hopper and pressurize it similar to what Savage did for his ping pong mini-gun, but I want this to be an open system! The hopper needs to be lower than the flywheel - maybe 3 feet or so. That's not much but it precludes a pure gravity fed approach.

Any ideas?

Multi-impact darts?

So some crazy genius created a thing called multi-impact bullets (image link below). Long story short, it's a bullet that splits in 3 string-linked shots when fired. The intention is a wide-area shot (like a shotgun round) that is nevertheless more controlled than a shotgun round.

http://static1.squarespace.com/static/5648f116e4b0f54883cb1fe2/564909f5e4b0339b8e86a974/56490a29e4b0339b8e86b8b5/1447627305554/MI-2.jpg?format=original

I figured, this meshes nicely with our blasters' low precision, between the wider area and each 'sub-bullet' forcing the other 2 to diverge less.

Has anyone tried to build such a thing? Any obvious issues with the idea I'm missing?

Brass Breech LS destroying worker darts

My brasses LS has been having trouble feeding worker darts. When I go to fire, the dart stays in the barrel and has the back of the dart break. Then I have to prime it again anf then the broken dart leaves the front of the barrel. I am using worker talons and I have this occur 2-3 times a mag. Any ideas on the issue?
BTW, the front barrel is only e taped into place.
