Time to make the Longstrike live up to it's name.

All you will need is:
Longstrike x1
Nitefinder x1
Dremel x1
Hot glue gun x1
Hot glue
Epoxy putty
17/32 brass (optional)
cpvc coupler x1
cpvc (optional)
Maverick spring x2 (optional)
electrical tape
super glue

First off, you want to cut down your Nitefinder plunger tube:

Posted Image

Add the Longstrike spring rest to the front:

Posted Image

You need to shave down the front of the spring rest's screw ports a little.

Posted Image

In order to fit the plunger tube into the shell, you need to shave out the shell like so:

Posted Image

The spring rest end of the plunger tube should catch on the edge of the curved part of the shell.

Add epoxy putty to the rail that the inverse plunger used to slide on, then press the protruding part of the spring rest in to the epoxy putty.

Remove the spring rest/plunger tube and allow the putty to cure.

Posted Image

In order to fit the catch into the shell, you need to sand down the inside of the shell like this:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Test the nitefinder catch in the shell regularly in order to get a perfect fit, like this:

Posted Image

Those two holes in the first picture allow you to screw together the nitefinder catch.

To make the seal between the bolt and plunger tube, cut half of a cpvc coupler and dremel a groove in it like so:

Posted Image

Wrap it in electrical tape and add two o-rings:

Posted Image

Now, there are two designs of bolt that can be made. The first method involves cutting the stock barrel just behind the air restrictor and adding a length of cpvc:

Posted Image

The cpvc should be just long enough to reach the back of the coupler when the bolt is all the way forward.

Another method of making the bolt involves cutting off the end of the old bolt:

Posted Image

Trace out the shape on to 17/32 brass:

Posted Image

Cut out the brass and super glue it inside the old bolt. Be sure to sand the lip of the brass to allow better dart feeding.

You need about 6" of brass.

Posted Image

In order to use the blaster, cut the handle off of the nitefinder plunger rod.

For the finishing touches, cut a hole in the back end of the Longstrike to allow the plunger rod to travel through.

Posted Image

If you have two maverick springs, glue the two end to end and replace the stock nitefinder spring to add power.

Here's how all the internals should fit:

You now have an indoor war worthy blaster that looks awesome! Enjoy.

Ranges are up!

46'
51' 7"
54' 7"
55' 4"
56' 10"
63' 3"

That's an average range of 54' 7"

Good mod, though I have to ask for ranges considering you used a maverick spring. If this can hold up to having a [k26] section or whatever else people use in NFs then I can see this as being a viable mod.

Great job adapting the nite ploy mod to nicer blaster., but it's a bit fuzzy near the end and probably an internals pic.

These steps really need some pics:
"Cut out the brass and super glue it inside the old bolt. Be sure to sand the lip of the brass to allow better dart feeding.

Now measure out how much brass you need measuring the same way as if you were using cpvc, cut off that amount, wrap the end in electrical tape and super glue it inside the cpvc coupler.

Make sure that the boltsled is all the way forward when making this measurement.

In order to use the blaster, cut the handle off of the nitefinder plunger rod."

I appreciate you making a short and to the point video too.

As far as the spring goes, I am guessing that with more power the thing will fall apart. If the catch starts to flex at all or if it is slightly angled the force of the spring will cause misfires. The brass used will also probably bend out and that seal piece used might come off or shatter with impact on the plunger tube.

Very nice mod. I am glad that you tackled the Longstrike. I also had not seen your Niteploy. I am glad of that as well since I needed to look back to grasp this better. I thought the write-up likely just needed a few sentences and a few extra, closer pics of sub-assemblies. Your design and many areas of craftsmanship look bad-ass. I hope you look into beefing this up as others suggested. I would suggest standing back, slowing down and focus for your next. I have been looking for something to do with my Longstrike and this is up my alley. The performance looked quite good in the video. Thanks for showing us this mod.

Wow, this is very nice! And incredibly simple too!
If this can hold up to stronger springs, then I might just have to try this!
Great job once again.

Nice Job! I think I'll try this with my longstrike and nitefinder. But I have to ask, what are the ranges with the two maverick springs?

Nice, this looks like a pretty simple(and therefor sturdy)design. I saw this in the mods/pj thread, and was hoping you would post a writeup. Good job! :)

Wow, I have never read a more doom-saying post before. Man, give the guy a break, he just posted a new, innovative mod, and you go and say it will just about explode on the first shot.

I do not doubt that this system can handle a k-26. I reinforced the spring rest with epoxy putty, and the whole catch is held in place for epoxy putty.
The only thing that I worry about happening to this blaster is it running out of lubricant.

That fact that this can achieve 50ft ranges using a nitefinder tube and two mavericks springs is impressive. I wouldn't think such a setup would be able to deliver enough air to compensate for extra deadspace the brass breech might create.

This is a great proof of concept mod. A rev 2 of this mod could really bring some power to the recon-style blasters. I would suggest focusing on increasing the power and reinforcement of crucial parts such as the nf catch.

The brass breech actually has less deadspace than the stock one, due to the normal plunger. I agree that more power could be pumped out of this blaster, and I will probably be doing some power mods later on.

50 feet with two Maverick springs? Damn. Nice work! I may have to pick a Longstrike now......

Agreed, an awesome mod. But if I do it I will use a stronger spring and reinforce the bolts led.

The bolt sled of the longstrike, in my experience, is quite strong. The part that gave me the most trouble on mine was the priming handle. When I modded it, the handle kept falling off, so I ended up epoxying it on.

I got 2 questions

1. If have a nerf element, could I use the internals of that blaster instead?

2. What if I replace some if the parts with the OMW unleashed stage 1 kit for the longstrike, will it work?
