Now all previous DS mods use CPVC modded shells. Now, this mod lets you save those dumb shells for your RFR and Mustang 6. Thats right a DS mod that doesn't use shells. Now on to how you do it.

Materials-
Hot Glue
Hot Glue Gun
E-Tape
DoubleShot
Hacksaw
Dremel
1/2in Thinwall PVC
1/2in CPVC
Pliars (Optional, it will save your fingers)
File (Optional, if you can't cut straight)
PVC Cutters

How To-
Take your DS. Open the Gun up, not with a screw driver, open it to see where you load the shells. Take your Dremel and start cutting on the orange ring that you push the shell into. Cut where that little protrusion is. You should be able to pull it out eventually, try not to damage the outside of the gun during this. Here is what the removed orange piece looks like-

Posted Image

Then take your pliars or fingers and stretch the spring out as far as you can. Here is a pic with one removed and one in progress-

Posted Image

Then take it and pull it to the right for the right barrel and to the left for the left barrel. Try to pull it through the seam. The end of the wire has a little bend so just pull like crazy until it comes out.

Posted Image

Now take the gun to a place where you can manuver pipe in it. Now take your thinwall 1/2in pipe and insert it into where the springs and orange ring were. It should be about 3in. Mark that with a sharpie and cut it out using the pipe cutters. Do this twice.

Posted Image

Then cut 2 3in sections of the CPVC and wrap it in E-Tape in two places until it is tight in the thinwall pipe.

Posted Image

Insert the CPVC into the thinwall and make it as flush as possible. If it isn't close to flush the gun will be hard to flip up. Now seal the ends with a small bead of hotglue, don't let it protrude out much.

Posted Image

Then insert it into where the shells used to go, no need to hot glue it there. If you are in need of a challenge then try to open it up and give the strings one twist, then you don't have to open it as far to fully cock it. Then hacksaw off the front just in front of the handgrip. I glued mine on top of the actual barrel because I find it easier to hold.

Hopefully this one ends up in the directory!

Can we see some pictures of the new insides of the gun opened up in half?
Other than that it looks good.

My first (with twisted strings and slightly stretched springs) gets mid 60s and low 70s. This one gets low to medium 60s.

Fucking-A dude!
My friend Travis just came over with his and I was trying to help him mod it and everything and 2 hours later THIS.
This will be great for him, all I did was chop off the extra "barrel" and do the shell mods.
I gave him some 1/2 PVC to stuff in thier hoping he would figure out something to do with it!!!
We were going to add vinyl tubing to make it better and maybe single it, but then he decided to wait.
If this goes well on his, I'll buy one!

But what does the CPVC do in the PVC? Is it like custom shells or what? I don't quite get it. Do you keep the springs and orange pieces in too?

Thanks!!!!
-keef

P.S. Nice write up too!!!!!

Hell yeah. I've always considered getting a Double Shot, since I have a thing for guns that fire off two shots at once, but the lack of range has always bothered me slightly. But this has convinced me to get one. Thank you.

I don't really undestand why General Cole is making articles of clothing with my name on it. First it frightened me, but after a few hours I got over it. It seems obvious that General Cole is hoping to have sex with me.

A detailed version of Tricksleeves. When I tried to hammer the CPVC into the PVC it didn't work, so I changed it and made a write up. This is probably my 3rd DS like this, 2 for me, 1 for a friend.

Keep an open mind that it may just be my pipe. And I think that you can put 1/2 normal PVC with carefully measured brass to get a good seal. But in classic fashion I opened it up and while trying to get the plungers out I cracked a tube. So I'll see if I can get some vids of my old one firing.

1/2" CPVC will not normally fit inside of 1/2" Sch. 40 PVC. It is barely too tight.

19/32" Brass will make a perfect fit inside of 1/2" Sch. 40 PVC. 9/16" or 17/32" will require a little E-tape.

Send mesome brass and I'll do it!
No place near me sells brass. Everywhere else is too far and internet shipping is too high for a lil toy gun fun.
I'm thinking of putting the brass inside the 1/2 PVC as a telescoping brass barrel protector of sorts (also fits PERFECT in the doubleshot's barrels) , and adding a good shell system, like yours but with a better seal and glued in with goop or something. Then maybe changing the spring if its worth it...

Hey, I just found something out. There are two versions of the DS. One is high end, it uses NYLON rollers and the new one in this mod uses plastic. and the new plungers are glued shut, the old ones arent. The orange plastic of the release and trigger is a bit different also.

UGH. Inside the DS is a complicated pulley system. The pulleys in the old one are Nylon. The new ones are just black plastic.

If I did do this, fist off is there any way to tell, strictly from the outside appearance (or box), which gen is which? (the good one from the bad one.)

Also, how large is the plunger tube, relative to a NF/ TTG is it longer or shorter, wider or thinner. I need to know for the barrel size.

You know the extension barrel on the LS? Its about 3.25 in of that. Completely sealed with a good plunger to tube seal. As far as I know the new gen and old one are the same on the outside.
The old one has an extra screw hole on the recieving side, for no reason. I hung the other end of the string on that to get the better range on the old gun of mine.

There must be a pretty strong spring in there to get 60 ft out of it. I calculated it, and there is a little less than one cubic inch of air in that plunger tube.

Actually, I was going to mod one of these things, but when I took it apart, the pulley system just broke. I then took the moment to take apart everything without having the fear of breaking anything. DI, you're right on with the spring thing. It's pretty beefy for nerf or buzz bee. The seal is also pretty nice. I just hated the shells, but this mod took care of that. Anyway I was thinking some PETG would be good in there because you might be able to just stick it in and glue it.
