Doubleshot Mod Write-up

Renegade’s Double Shot Mod
Here we have a stock DoubleShot. All of mine have been horrible stock. This is mainly because of the large “barrel.” The darts usually bounce off the sides and get stuck, or barely leave the barrel. To remedy this, we’ll be sawing off most of the barrel. And then Putting CPVC in the shells for a tighter fit. This allows for the shells to still eject even after being modded.
Step One: Use a hacksaw and saw off your barrels as short as you would like. I cut them right inline with the yellow fore grip.
Step Two: My DS Didn’t let shells eject just by flipping it down with one hand so I took out a little piece that gives it some friction and clicks when it is bent. It is the entire small spring and plastic lever. I used a screwdriver and pried it out.
Step Three: We’re pretty much done with the main gun for now. The next step involves the shells. Cut the shells just below where it dips and gets smaller. CPVC should fit right inside. I cut my CPVC to 2 inches. This kept it near the original shells, although longer lengths could be used but the shells may not eject properly. Use hot glue to seal it. Make the glue nice and close to the shell so none hangs over.
OPTIONAL: I did not see any noticeable range increase from the following step. Although it should give a slight increase.
Step Four: Use a drill to make the hole in the back of the shells a little bit larger. DO NOT make it larger than the small plastic circle protruding out of the shell. This makes the seal.
Step Five: I decided to cut the trigger guard as I felt it got in the way of my fingers. It may not be the same for you.
And now we have a modded DoubleShot. It’s more compact, can shoot farther, and can now shoot stefans. I put some e tape on the handle for comfort.
Ranges are at least 40 feet. I’ll do some more accurate range tests later.

Regardless, 40' is obviously way better than this gun could have acheived unmodded. Are the barrels seriously larger than the dart, that would just be stupid manufacturing/design.
--------------Slightly off topic, just thinking: wouldn't it be better though?-------------
Makes me wonder why they don't hire actual nerfers to design their guns. Even some of the forum noobs could make a better Nerf weapon-given the opportunity to use the company machinery. (Maybe they don't let us design nerf because we would end up with weapons of mass-foam-destruction)

By the by, do the shells still fly out of the gun when you reload? It looks that where you put the PVC in, it wouldn't touch the spring to launch the empty shell back out.

I saw some bored kids in a baskin robin's playing with one of these once, they were shooting it at the counter. It seemed to have reasonable power, but they may have just had one of those one-in-a-million guns that miraculously works well, like unskipping razorbeasts, or welt-inducing mavericks.

Who is they? This gun is some off-brand(Buzz-Bee?). Hasbro has engineers that design their guns. A few select members also get to visit the Hasbro headquarters once a year or so. When they are there, they see prototypes and they give their input. I'd say that's better than nothing,

Does everyone like taking nerf stickers and putting them on their max shot or did Nerf own Lanard at one point? or what?
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Even the Longshot barrels don't touch the darts. That's why the barrel extention reduces range: there is more time for pressure to escape arouund the dart. This mod, however, reduces that time, and therefore increases range.Regardless, 40' is obviously way better than this gun could have acheived unmodded. Are the barrels seriously larger than the dart, that would just be stupid manufacturing/design.

Forsaken_angel24: I just stuck some extra Nerf Crossbow stickers on it because cx did. And for some originality. As it looked like most other maxshots.

I've noticed some difference in firing one dart vs two. Not sure how to fix this. I'll check into it after I finish my nitemav and that write-up.

"they" were the companies manufacturing Nerf-type guns, and I understand that they have engineers, but the engineers have more "cool-factor" (and safety) than power, in mind when designing the guns. Of course, they must be contract-bound to do this, since the idea behind Nerf sales is:
(as in all sales companies)
1. Make stuff look good to profit sales (longshot, max-force line)
2. Don't get sued (did someone say "DO NOT MODIFY' clause?)
Obviously, buzzbee puts functionality so far down on their to-do lists, and power is even lower than that, that the output is what they hope for it to be - safe for parents to let thier kids shoot themselves point blank in the head and not get hurt. Nerf is more powerful, less of a novelty/dollar-store toy, but it does seem a lot more fun to mod a cheap gun, not only does it have a lot of room to improve, but also it's disposable, cheap, and screwed up mods are easily just thrown away. I guess there is a positive side to worthlessness...

Yeah, it also helps if your nuts are made of steel. Or atleast as hard as steel, to ensure that you can shoot far enough.

On ebay, if you type in 'nerf gun' you will find that someone has completely removed the front section of a doubleshot. Instead of barrels, there are short cpvc stubs. So long, shells.

EDIT: Finished reading the auction thing and... the flip down part is removed? That's the best part of the double shot, to flick the thing upwards so it looks all gangster...

In the future, you may want to refrain from posting in topics that are more than 2 months old, let alone 2 years. This is called Necroing, and it is bad. If you want, Pm the author of the topic. If you necro repeatedly, an admin will likely suspend you, maybe even ban you.what did you use to cut it.
Hope this helps.
It's just screaming to be rearloading...
I seen a movie about that once.

General Nerf....he took you mod a year and a half ago? If I could understand what the hell you were trying to say I would tell you it's inappropriate for an old topic. Since I cannot, I'm just going to tell you that you've had more than long enough to figure out how that whole punctuation thing works. Add that to the whinny PM, and I've about had my fill of you. It's not gonna take much more to convince me that you're more trouble than you're worth.

How exactly did you get the little yellow lever and spring out.
Thanks.
