#3703 Devil May Cry (1)

Posted by Vassili on 20 April 2003 - 03:27 PM in Off Topic

Anyone played this game before? It is so frickin cool. You walk around with swords, shotguns, and pistols and blow up evil spirit things. It's for PS2.

#5492 Foam Fortress Web Site Awards

Posted by Vassili on 09 June 2003 - 09:05 PM in Off Topic

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to have website awards for the Nerfing community? I was thinking:

Best Reviews
Best Mods
Best Homemades
Best H2H
Most Fun Forums
Best Technological Forum
Best New Site
Best Navigation
Best Design

And more.

Basically what would happen is I would take nominations for each category and then you could vote via email. Please no votes or nominations yet.

#2118 Kings Of Chaos

Posted by Vassili on 09 March 2003 - 09:25 PM in Off Topic

I think that the other thread about Kings of Chaos might tell you who does and that your link will be deleted once Cxwq or Vacc get here.

#2641 Modifications

Posted by Vassili on 24 March 2003 - 11:15 PM in Site Feedback

Cxwq's are the nicest mod writeups, mainly due to the fact that he is very skilled and has a very nice digital camera. There is also a new mod like every 2-3 weeks, which is a very good rate of improvement.

#2015 Websites

Which forum do things about nerf websites go? General?

#9853 Www.nerf.tk

Posted by Vassili on 17 September 2003 - 08:00 PM in General Nerf

Uh, Arcanis, I think that you're thinking he's giving away his site, but I'm pretty sure he's just giving away www.nerf.tk, which you can use as a cloak to just link to your site.

#1000 At2k Airtank

Posted by Vassili on 29 January 2003 - 01:07 PM in Modifications

Can someone give me the dimensions of an At2k airtank? I am going to integrate it into my EaB.

#6706 Integrations In Nerf - New Article

Posted by Vassili on 07 July 2003 - 11:42 PM in Site Feedback

Shindig has done a fair share of writing articles lately.

I really like the sudden birth of the articles section, they are all quite good.

#1014 At2k Airtank

Posted by Vassili on 29 January 2003 - 06:49 PM in Modifications

Yes it's in addition to the plunger. I stayed home sick today so I emptied out the insides below the barrel. It should fit but I have to sacrifice one srew hole. I also put in probably the same spring as Cxwq's EaB, it's a lot more accurate than the stock springs with bands.

#25507 Small Soldiers

Posted by Vassili on 03 May 2004 - 11:04 PM in General Nerf

...The SM500, IMO, is the best Nerf sidearm you can get in power. Around 70' properly modded, if not, more.

Try an SS2 or SM750 if you think 70' is good for a sidearm. Still though, the SM500 is a very good gun, as with the small soldiers rifle. If you're up to it, I highly reccomend Cx's internal barrel mod

Self-Explanatory.

#10157 New Tt Mod

Posted by Vassili on 21 September 2003 - 07:32 PM in Modifications

You would get at least 5 more feet with a 17/32" section of brass, but nice job. You're right though, it badly needs a paint job.

#3965 Powerclip Rubber Banding

Posted by Vassili on 24 April 2003 - 10:45 PM in Modifications

Black Scout, what you probably did is put it back together wrong, where one of the tubes was bent too much, which meant not enough air could get to the piston and send it back and forth, only keep it forward. Also the piston could be off the little track it has.

What's better that rubber banding is bike tubing. Get a bike tube, cut like a 3 inch piece, and put it on the bladder. It definitely increases ROF, and I think there is a a little better range. I'm don't have enough time to go into detail, but unscrew the back of the bladder and take out all of the internals. Then slip the bike tube over the pump, piston, valves, and all that stuff and put it on the bladder. Trust me, it's a lot easier than dealing with the hose clamp. Just make sure you put all the tubing back in the right way.

You're hilarious.

#26309 Expand A Blast Or Xbow Spring?

Posted by Vassili on 16 May 2004 - 12:04 PM in Modifications

The EaB spring is way too short for a Crossbow plunger, not even good enough for the EaB plunger in my opinion. Go to your local hardware store and find a much stronger replacement spring. You'll also want to reinforce the internals so your gun doesn't crack with the added pressure.

#33655 Petg On Spring Guns?

Posted by Vassili on 10 August 2004 - 12:39 PM in Modifications

Unless you have relatively wide darts, then PETG wouldn't have enough friction to get very good ranges. You can try doing this to your barrel, but I would still reccomend telescoped brass.

#3454 Eab Replacement Spring Not Working

Posted by Vassili on 14 April 2003 - 04:38 PM in Modifications

C-882 is what it says on mine, they work very well in Eabs, and SSIIs and probably more stuff I just haven't tested it in other guns.

#9851 Anyone Have Pic Of Internals Of Sm 5000

Posted by Vassili on 17 September 2003 - 07:56 PM in General Nerf

NNL had pictures of unmodded Sm 5000 internals but it's not up anymore. The airtank goes up at the front of the gun, like right where the barrel is, and the rest you should be able to figure out form the pics on this site.

I think NH is the best nerf forums + site in existence right now. I hope it continues to get better.

#27240 Homemade Piston

Posted by Vassili on 29 May 2004 - 08:01 PM in Homemades

Wow, thanks guys. I'm leaning towards O-rings over a gasket, just because my local hardware store has half an aisle of O-rings. I don't know if I can get a hold of one of those spherical dremel bits, but I'm going to try Cxwq's idea for securing the O-rings.

Cx, is your xbow all back together and working?

Zero, why not relocate the charging handle to the stock, like a stock xbow? You could also put the charging handle in the foregrip like a real-steel gun.

#33301 Razor Fin?

Posted by Vassili on 06 August 2004 - 12:25 PM in General Nerf

...and the barrels are epoxied into the case.

No, they're not.

For some odd reason I actually tried to be helpful to this kid at NHQ:

"The Razor Fin has a tiny plunger tube, and the mechanism that switches the barrels greatly restricts the airflow. I doubt you can get more than 30-40 feet if you leave the barrel switching mech on, so I'd suggest ripping it off and single barreling it.

The problem with single barreling it though is that you'd have to connect the barrel to the plunger tube with some kind of tubing because otherwise the barrel will stick out of the top of the gun. Of course, by changing the airflow you will lose some pressure, which is already pretty abysmal. You'll also need to either replace the spring or add rubber bands because the stock spring is extremely weak.

Once that is all said and done, you'll have to deal with firing the gun with the weird trigger mechanism, and cocking it from the bottom of the handle, which is also quite inconvenient. All that work for a gun that can maybe get 45 feet on a good dart? Not worth it.

What I ended up doing with my Razor Fin was hacking off all of the gun except the handle, which held the plunger tube, and taping/glueing a crayola barrel directly onto the plunger tube. I had planned on integrating or somehow adding this little gun to one of my primary guns to act as a last-resort backup shot, but never got around to it.

In short, give up on your Razor Fin and dish out the 7 bucks needed for a NiteFinder." -Me at NHQ

I hope that answers your question if you should buy 'em or not.

Relocated the pump...

Posted ImagePosted Image

You can see in the third pic that I used a long, bendable brass sheet and formed it to the shell and pump, then wrapped the brass in extremely tight duct tape. That and the fact that the pump presses against a large section of the gun's shell make for an extremely sturdy pump. I think the gun also looks a lot better now, especially with the insulator padded foregrip. Thoughts?

#25647 Super Soaker Mod

Posted by Vassili on 06 May 2004 - 08:30 PM in Modifications

If you are going to actually leave the extremely large airtank, then yes I guess an XP gun would be more practical than a CPS gun but you're still talking about at least 30 pumps. However, if you are going to greatly reduce the air tank (which I highly reccomend), then a CPS valve would be just as good if not better than an XP valve.

#27211 Homemade Piston

Posted by Vassili on 29 May 2004 - 01:48 AM in Homemades

Alright guys, for my next project, which I don't know will happen or not, I'm going to be building a homemade plunger and plunger tube. Problem is, I can't decide on how to make the piston. I'm thinking about just testing O-rings at the hardware store and see what fits nicely in 1" PVC, but it's going to be hard connecting the O-ring securely to the piston without being able to mold plastic. It looks as though wrapping some 1/2" PVC in e-tape worked nicely for Boltsniper's P99, but if you guys have any other ideas for making a nice airtight piston they would be greatly appreciated.

#25463 Unnamed Eab Creation

Posted by Vassili on 03 May 2004 - 06:00 PM in Modifications

No, but judging by the fact that it outranged the farthest shot on my rifled PETG testing, I'd have to say more than 130 feet.

I finally decided to get off my lazy ass and finish one of my old projects. This gun has been made from scraps of many assorted things, but the valve is from a supersoaker (CPS 1000) and the pump is from a Larami 2000 (Sm5k lookalike). In case you were wondering the T-coupler on the back makes up most of the airtank. Range is very good, quite a distance past 100 feet, but the main thing I love is the velocity and accuracy. I have never seen another gun shoot with with the same velocity and accuracy as this one. ROF is also very good, thanks to the breach that I cut out of the shell. The only problem I have with this gun is that the pumping is a little awkward. Any input on where to relocate it is gratefully accepted. I couldn't stand the bright yellow pump handle, so that and the EaB trigger got painted black.

#4950 Dumb Internet Explorer

Posted by Vassili on 24 May 2003 - 01:03 AM in Off Topic

Sorry but this is really annoying and I can't figure out how to fix it. All of a sudden all the fonts on internet explorer are smaller. I went through all the internet options and I can't find anything on font size. I really don't know why this is happening since font size is supposed to be determined by the actual html file, isn't it? Anyone know how to fix this?

edit:: I fixed it. Now I feel really stupid, but I think something good came out of this. I downloaded Mozilla and I realize that you can't even read my site (Foam Fortress) in Mozilla because the menus don't go down. Do you Mozilla users have this problem?

Wow is that a PC bladder powering a single shot? Does it work well?

#2859 X-stream Mods Completed

Wait, they are pump guns, right? How many pumps for the 100 feet? Also that's micros in PVC going 100 feet?

#1976 Secret Shot 2 Valve

Posted by Vassili on 03 March 2003 - 10:34 PM in Modifications

The SS2 valve is definitely the best valve there is, it isn't extremely big but it lets out air a lot faster than the SM valves, at least I think. Zero do you think you can figure out why you have to pump it fast or otherwise it leaks?

#996 Favorite Sb Commercial:

Posted by Vassili on 29 January 2003 - 11:39 AM in Off Topic

The blind date was pretty funny. The Cast Away ripoff was also pretty good. I never saw the Terry Tate add but I saw him do the parody with Al Roker and Matt Lauer.

A solely brass barrel not covered in PVC will fit I am almost positive.

#6773 Help!exploding Air Tanks!

Posted by Vassili on 08 July 2003 - 09:59 PM in Homemades

We pump our homemades until you just simply can't pump anymore because you are not heavy enough to pump a bike pump. We get ours over 160.

#4064 Max Shot + At2k

Posted by Vassili on 27 April 2003 - 10:34 PM in Modifications

This is really simple, but is quite convenient and comfortable, and has two shots. The airtank is slightly to the left, on the bottom of the Max Shot right at the closest blue part to the trigger, with only the very back touching the black part in order to keep the barrel of the 2k level. A keyring glued to the valve pin is right near the Max Shot trigger, and you can comfortably put your index finger on the 2k valve and your middle finger on the Max Shot trigger. The pump is just taped onto the side, and as of right now you have to cradle it to pump, but soon I'll glue it. I don't have a good barrel for the 2k yet, but I'm expecting this gun to have a 90 foot shot and a 100 foot shot, very effective. Pics by next weekend. I really reccomend this to any MS owner, it's really easy, took me 5 minutes.

It's called PVC Cement, buddy. All you do is glue everything together.

#4969 Dumb Internet Explorer

A Mozilla-friendly site is on my to do list. Problem is my to do list is bigger than my mom's Day After Thanksgiving Sale shopping list.

#168 Brassed Eab.

Posted by Vassili on 27 December 2002 - 04:58 PM in Modifications

Frenzy, that happened to mine too and I filled it up with tons of epoxy but it didn't hold. Duct tape was actually able to hold it for a couple days at a time but eventually I gave up on it. For any good modders out there, I think that there is enough room under the barrel to integrate an at2k. I need to run to TRU and buy one, then do some handy work with my hack saw.

#4453 Max Shot + At2k

Posted by Vassili on 11 May 2003 - 02:41 PM in Modifications

It won't be taped on for much longer and I definitely have to get another Max Shot that doesn't have anything on it. I also will add a stock soon, it kinda needs it since it jolts so much.

#4442 Max Shot + At2k

Posted by Vassili on 10 May 2003 - 05:39 PM in Modifications

I took pics but there on IronRhino's camera and he hasn't uploaded them yet.

*Cough* IronRhino *Cough*

Its already changed though, I replaced the tubing with 2 feet of vinyl tubing because I want like 120 foot ranges, even if it will be 6 or 7 pumps. I'm going to do a lot of cosmetics soon, too. I think I'll paint the blue part on the max shot black, red and black would be sweet.

edit:: Okay here they are:

We had bad light conditions but you get the picture.

#1204 Lock N Load Troubles

Posted by Vassili on 08 February 2003 - 08:21 PM in Modifications

I replaced IronRhino's catch spring with a spring from a click pen and it works great. Just cut it down to a shorter size and then stretch it if you want it to be weaker.
