#227196 Gehenna In Dekalb

Posted by Demon Lord on 30 April 2009 - 04:25 AM in Nerf Wars

Quick note, if anyone wants to tryout a new gametype or play style this is a good time to do it. I'm always looking new ideas and challanges to liven up the games played. Overall its just about having fun!

#226011 Gehenna In Dekalb

Posted by Demon Lord on 26 April 2009 - 01:15 AM in Nerf Wars

The first squad scenario rules are up!

Scenerio Mission 1: Assualt
2 teams to play, each provided with a missle but no launcher.
The titan launcher is out in the open on the field, waiting to be primed and loaded.
Both teams have to scramble to get titan and to launch the missle at the opposing base, a direct is considered if the missle lands within 5ft of the base and destroys the base.
Should a player get hit by a missle (or catch it) they are out for 60 seconds instead of the regular 20 seconds.
People hit count and respawn at their designated “respawner” before rejoining their team.
Played best 2 out of 3, with teams changing sides between rounds.

#255568 Hitting The Target

Posted by Demon Lord on 07 November 2009 - 02:44 AM in General Nerf

That doesn't appear to be a dart curve, just good timing.
Now if the shot happened outside with high winds, I'd say the dart got an external push to curve the dart.

#317581 Mad Ghost issues

Posted by Demon Lord on 26 June 2012 - 02:46 PM in Homemades

The model of Mad Ghost 3DBBQ posted on NerfHaven only does single shots, its not semi-automatic so your blaster is working fine if you followed his writeup.

#311572 Stampede Problem

Posted by Demon Lord on 21 February 2012 - 02:52 AM in Modifications

Please do NOT use a car battery for testing anything or modding anything. The average car battery runs at over 500 amps and is enough to melt steel in seconds if short circuited. If you need 12 V anything to test with use a lantern battery as they are much safer for applications like this.

#224970 Gehenna In Dekalb

Posted by Demon Lord on 22 April 2009 - 05:51 AM in Nerf Wars

Where: Hopkins Park (1403 Sycamore Rd. DeKalb, Illinois 60115)
When: Saturday, May 30th from 11 am to 4 pm (june 6th a possible date if the 30th doesn't work)
Meet up place: Right by the tennis courts

Who will be there:
Demon Lord

Who might be there:
PointBlank
Ryan201821
basser +1
bigred1rifleman
Unsane

The backstory:
Inspired by ChANO, the Midwest needs more wars, need I say more?

What you need:
- At least a pistol and most likely a primary. I might have a few loaner guns but I can't guarantee it.
- Ammo. Tons and tons of ammo.
- Eye protection. You don't have any you don't play. There's a walmart nearby to buy some from if needed.
- Money, or food. I'm going to be taking donations to order pizza later in the day and would like to get something better than a small cheese pizza to share among nth number of people.

What you shouldn't bring:
- Absolutely no singled Titans. Plugged Titans must be shotgunned to at least three barrels - a minimum of three barrels attached to the airtank, with all barrels firing upon the trigger pull.
- No singled AND plugged 4Bs, LBBs, National Geographic Guns, or Signal Launchers. Plugged will imply shotgunned to at least three barrels.
- The only case a single and plugged gun of the above mentioned gun would be allowed is that if they can only fire the stock ammo they came with.
- Special cases on the above banned guns will be considered on a case-by-case basis; if you feel you have something that is listed as banned but doesn't perform powerfully enough to warrant banning you may bring it, but please don't waste our time with a singled, plugged Titan where you shotgun-load a single barrel.
- Do NOT bring anything painted all black. That is bad and you won't be allowed to use it. Orange tips are also required, however orange ductape is available for guns without them.

Misc. stuff:
- All players at least once will be asked (and by asked I mean required) to be a referee for a round. Cuts down on headaches and arguments of rules. If we get a large enough turnout then everyone will just be ref once.
- Three strikes and you're out rules applies. We're all adults (as adulty as we can be running around with kids toys while shooting at each other) so this should be an issue at all.
- Rules for other types are going to be leaning toward West Coast standard rules (see badgers thread and read it).

Games played and planned:
Team Deathmatch
CTF (both double flag and single flag)
Humans Vs Zombies (if we have enough people)
Free for all survivor
Squad scenerios

Rules for HvZ and scenerios coming as I get time to post them.
Squad Scenario number 1 rules are up! See posts below!
Humans Vs Zombies rules are up!
Bombing Run rules are up!
This the first nerf war in DeKalb in a long time and I really want this to be a good one. Let's make it just that!

#227821 Gehenna In Dekalb

Posted by Demon Lord on 03 May 2009 - 02:01 AM in Nerf Wars

So far, just me and a couple of friends of mine that will be joining for sure. From the looks of it the date was a bad day to set up a war.

Humans Vs Zombies Rules:
Humans Vs Zombies
Team based survivor gameplay
Humans marked by having armbands on right arm, zombies wear headbands.
Humans may defend themselves using nerf guns while zombies are unarmed.
To turn a human into a zombie, the zombie must touch a human using their bare hands. Transformation time is how long it takes a human to swap out to a headband and reach the zombie spawn point.
If zombie is hit by nerf dart then the zombie is stunned and cannot tag a human until they get back to the designated respawn point. Camping the spawn point is
To win the humans must survive one of two scenerios: 1. Either get to a evac point or 2. Survive for a limited amount of time.
Human winners get to be original zombies in the next round, if not then last surviving humans will be the next starting zombies. Failing all that, names out of a hat.

#324709 Wills Win-ter War II

Posted by Demon Lord on 24 December 2012 - 04:07 AM in Nerf Wars

Update for me: Good News Everybody! I'm going to have at least 1 if not two or more guests with me. More targets!

#323971 Wills Win-ter War II

Posted by Demon Lord on 27 November 2012 - 05:23 PM in Nerf Wars

Its during the plant shutdown for me, so I will be there and I'll try and drag people with me. Hopefully I'll have good non-white darts with me, I don't need a repeat of MANO 2.

#311128 Titan Problem

Posted by Demon Lord on 13 February 2012 - 03:44 AM in Modifications

Open it up, align the trigger to the rod and make sure everything is in place correctly. Then hot glue the spring to ensure it can't compress at all, I had a similar problem with mine and that fixed the problem for me.

#289580 Mag3k

Posted by Demon Lord on 01 December 2010 - 03:50 AM in Modifications

I'm curious, what is that weird corner piece that you used to create the dual RSCBs?

here's a source

http://flexpvc.com/c...-side-outlet-90

Do you think a hardware store would carry them, or are these as elusive as wyes?

Most good hardware stores carry those. I've seen them at Lowe's, Menards, and Home Depot.

#311137 Titan Problem

Posted by Demon Lord on 13 February 2012 - 03:16 PM in Modifications

Which spring may I ask? Sorry Ive never messed with air guns.

Its the spring behind the trigger. If you need more help refer to the Internals Guide to see it.

#294401 Are The Clear Blasters Faulty?

Posted by Demon Lord on 11 February 2011 - 10:00 PM in General Nerf

I received a stock clear NF a while back and discovered that it would not shoot stock ammo at all. It seems to me that the clear series of blasters seems to have more defects than the standard ones.

#335382 Help with a barrel for elite darts in my rainbow

Posted by Demon Lord on 13 November 2013 - 08:48 PM in Darts and Barrels

You could try a longer barrel, closer to 16'' up to 24'' to achieve stable flight, or port the end of your current barrel setup.

#184879 Hvz

Posted by Demon Lord on 22 October 2008 - 02:51 AM in General Nerf

Northern Illinois University also has a game of Humans Vs Zombies going on and a club behind it. We're about to start the second game of the semester and things are looking good, despite the fact that we lost use of NERF guns temporarily due to the shooting that occurred back in February...however we've got loophole to drive trucks through and still keep things fun!
More info is at our website NIU HvZ

#233637 Rear Loading Double Shot (picture Heavy)

Make sure the the CPVC sticks out from the PVC by about a 1/8 or an inch or so to ensure a good seal.

#287158 Mobstacles 2.0

*snip*

*snip*

Yeah, There very easy to set up after our core decides to run 80 feet. Haha.

Using these as cores has been fun and interesting, but we really need to do something smaller than 4' square, and yet still larger than a shoebox. One day I'll get around to making a 2' elevated cube for a core. Also, the whole runaway core thing is a huge problem, and it's not the first time that happened.

Ground stakes would be a good idea, or tying it to a tree or three might work as well.

#221273 Recon Seal?

Posted by Demon Lord on 02 April 2009 - 04:56 PM in Modifications

Straw modding is a possibility. However in my experience straw modding for the time and effort put into it, its not worth it. The range and reliability don't improve enough to justify doing it.

Not to make anyone sound stupid, but make sure the switch is on and hasn't been jammed off.

#303637 Mayhem in Milwaukee

With that date move, I might be able to make it.

#287277 Hamp Help...

Posted by Demon Lord on 20 October 2010 - 09:03 PM in Homemades

Make sure you have an airgun fit for your darts. HAMPS don't like tight barrels

#329205 Midwest Nerf Camping Weekend

Posted by Demon Lord on 30 April 2013 - 09:13 PM in Nerf Wars

June 15th is when SPANO is this year, so Cataclysm shouldn't happen that weekend. That being said I would push for the second weekend in July.

#284122 Orange Fbr

Posted by Demon Lord on 27 August 2010 - 01:58 PM in Darts and Barrels

Demon Lord, can you add pics? Anyways, I bought some McMaster foam and I like it a lot, good petg airgun fit, cpvc springer fit.

ok can you send the number so i can try it out.

It was several months ago that I bought the stuff, so no, I don't have pictures of the darts. I salvaged what I could of the washers and felt and threw the foam away.

#179243 Niu Humans Vs Zombies Needs Help!

Posted by Demon Lord on 23 September 2008 - 11:39 PM in General Nerf

As you may know, we had the shooting on Feb. 14th. We are currently trying to get the game back to the point it was at but we need some help. We have some people still complaining to us about insensitivity.

This is very unfortunate, and obviously not in any way your fault or responsibility, but all the same it might be best to "lay low" at least until an anniversary passes. Maybe look for some off-campus locations, to help keep your organization going, even if you have to pay a use fee.

No matter how politic you are about it, it only takes one person's objections to royally screw you over, while such a community wound is fresh.

The thing is that the "advisory board" wants to get rid of HvZ COMPLETELY. As in shut down the club. We do more than Humans Vs Zombies games, we have held and are planning to hold NERF wars and other events but these people are threatening to end all that.
My name is Tim Peterson and I'm the Graduate Adviser of the club. We've fought long and hard for the very little the club has and now we are threatened with being shut down for something out of our control by a board who did not consult the people involved with the club nor consult any of the victims or their psychologists. All that is being asked is that people who nerf email the above address to show support of the club and what it does. If you have story about HvZ or something similar, tell it. That's all we can ask. Thanks for the support.

#184877 Demon Breech For Titan

Posted by Demon Lord on 22 October 2008 - 01:12 AM in Modifications

Props on creativity for sure, however this looks like a cheap coupler system rather than a true breach for the Titan.
Still, fairly creative for those who don't have ready access to a hardware store nearby.

#284077 Orange Fbr

Posted by Demon Lord on 26 August 2010 - 11:43 PM in Darts and Barrels

Learn from my mistake, don't buy it for darts. Its a high friction, skinned foam rubber and makes horrible darts.

#179788 Niu Humans Vs Zombies Needs Help!

Posted by Demon Lord on 26 September 2008 - 06:24 PM in General Nerf

Now if it is that non-players are not being sensitive to your club, ask why that is. I suggest being strategic about where, when and how you conduct your games. Be ready to take breaks in the action so you don't molest other people on campus. As for defending your game, it's no more risky or obnoxious than a soccer or ultimate frisbee game. Make sure that people clean up their darts. If people don't like the fact that you are playing with TOY guns, avoid getting into arguments with them. Always always always be polite and stay calm. Be prepared to show off your 'BLASTERS' (yeah I still call them nerf guns myself, but like so many things in college wording can be key).

The concern from this board is that the 150 or so students that were in the room when the shooting happened at NIU is that the sight of the NERF stuff will trigger PTSD flashbacks. Upon talking with some of the students and the department involved, none of the people at the shooting were contacted by the board about this, the board just presumed they weren't healed yet and went ahead and are trying to shut us down.

#158797 The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

Posted by Demon Lord on 11 June 2008 - 12:13 AM in Modifications

I personally hate the idea of killing a BBB to make an LS stronger, so if there is an alternative, I'd take it. (My alternative was just buying a bbb spring from someone else though).

Ace Hardware Spring #49. I've got one in my LS and with just that and the ARs removed I'm getting between 75 and 100 feet per shot depending on the darts I'm using.

#265035 The Easiest Telescoping Longshot Barrel Ever.

Posted by Demon Lord on 11 February 2010 - 02:15 AM in Modifications

What I'm refering to is the narrow "tooth" that extends out of the front of the bolt nub. That "tooth" keeps stopping at the brass and will not allow a barrel extension on there.

#288778 Primary And Secondary?

Posted by Demon Lord on 23 November 2010 - 12:51 PM in General Nerf

Another definition of a secondary is a back up or hold out blaster. Something you can draw quickly while reloading your primary. This is usually something of the pistol variety.

#199828 Dual Stage Coil Gun From Longshot

Posted by Demon Lord on 30 December 2008 - 07:23 PM in Modifications

Someone fast track this member asap.

This thing fires 3" steel bolts? Is there anyway to make it fire stefans? Maybe with a steel ball bearing instead of a lead fishing weight?

A steel ball bearing might survive the force of being shot out of that beast, the stefan it was in on the other hand may not...
However not knowing the range or the force that the bar hits with limits my guessing.
One of Captian Slugs washer stefans might have a better chance of surviving being launched if something other than hotglue is used to secure the washer on.

#293177 Big Bad Bow Sonic Dart Clip Possibility?

Posted by Demon Lord on 21 January 2011 - 03:00 AM in Modifications

Thinwall 1/2'' PVC can be used to carry sonic darts no problem. I've seen both inlines and RSCBs use it to hold the darts. And from my experience 1/2'' PVC from Lowes and Menards can be used as a good barrel material for sonic darts, at least in DeKalb anyway.

#265014 The Easiest Telescoping Longshot Barrel Ever.

Posted by Demon Lord on 10 February 2010 - 10:03 PM in Modifications

Here's my question, How did you get the "bolt tooth" ( the thing aligns the dart with the barrel) to slide over the 9/16th brass? I've tried this before in the past and have run into this problem repeatedly.

#320171 Homemade Rocket Launcher Contest Submission Thread

Posted by Demon Lord on 08 August 2012 - 08:44 PM in Homemades

So here I present to you an attachment to boost ranges: The Rupture Assisted Device System (R.A.D.S.)

Posted Image

You will need:
1" or 3/4" PVC union
Barrel Assembly (in this case the 3/4" PVC Venom has)
Reducing bushing to 1/2" PVC (to attach to the front your blaster)
Stub of 1/2" PVC
Saren Wrap

Insert rocket onto the end of the barrel.
Unscrew the union and insert the saren wrap between the two halves.
Attach the device to the front of your favorite blaster and fire!

The idea is that with a springer air pressure requires friction of the dart in the barrel to maintain pressure to fling the dart. With a rocket that's not possible, so what happens is the spring compresses the air behind the rupture disk and when the PSI is high enough the disk ruptures, creating an airgun like effect with the blaster. Initial testing with my plusbow and a Titan rocket resulted in an increase of 2 feet to the range of the missile. Without it it went 4 feet, with the rupture disk it went six feet. When attached to my 4B it went from 60ish to around 100+ when tin foil is used as a rupture disk. Best with high volume blasters.

EDIT: Now that the weather is clear I was able to test the system with my plus bow and rocket assembly. Without the disk, the rocket flew 30 to 35 feet and with the saren wrap it flew to 40 to 45 feet. Wind may have been a factor as it did start to rain, but we've got baselines now to play around with.

#282351 Chano 3.5

Posted by Demon Lord on 06 August 2010 - 09:43 PM in Nerf Wars

I can make it on the 14th but not on the 21st due to my sister moving into her dorm that day.

Can I help her move in and get comfortable in the big scary world?

Wow, no.

Does she need a body guard to guard her for the day from the aformentioned creepy people? My rates are cheap.
BTW: if the war is this saturday, I need to know quick.

#301101 Captain America Disc Launching Shield

Posted by Demon Lord on 06 July 2011 - 03:14 PM in Modifications

What if you were buy an equivalent size/power motor and install it in the place of the free spinning wheel, you get more power and even the accuracy out.

That idea would work with a flywheel blaster that fires darts, but disks require spin to even have any chance of flying.

Demonlord does Parkour, so you know he's legit.

Along with a "Leverage"isc background, but that's another story.

I'm going to be late arriving and will probably have to leave early, but I'll be there.

#310724 .22 Master Exam Design

Posted by Demon Lord on 05 February 2012 - 05:51 AM in Off Topic

.22 Are small game hunting rifles, there is no way you can kill someone with it (perhaps an eyeshot)
Zumatrix

Actually historically the .22 wasn't designed for target shooting or hunting small game, the original nickname of that caliber of round was "the assassin's bullet" as the small size and shape as well as the lower velocity of the round would cause it to bounce around in the human body causing more damage than if the round had gone straight through.
But I digress and correct,
Once you said that the design was bolt action and nothing else the design clicked. I would make the part that holds the bolt back a bit thicker but the overall design seems sound.

#297345 LED stefans?

Posted by Demon Lord on 20 April 2011 - 02:17 AM in Darts and Barrels

For a micro sized dart, the weight will probably be too much for even a high powered blaster. However a mega sized dart or a mongo dart (and the blasters capable of firing them) that might be a better weight for those larger darts.
