Check valve was put in backwards? Does the resistance get higher as you pump it more? Also, does the tubing shrink when you pull the pump out? (I see this thread as getting to be a great source for Perverted Nerf Quote type-slogan-threads...)

#38068 Political Equity

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 30 September 2004 - 08:18 PM in Off Topic

Even though none of you probably care at all, but why wasn't Nader alowed to be part of the political debate? I mean, people think there are only two candidates and parties: Bush for Republicans and Kerry for Democrats. What about Green Party? Libertarian? There isn't any aknowledgement of those parties by popular, national news groups. Does anyone else think this is unfair?

#38062 Low Splitfire Pressure

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 30 September 2004 - 07:28 PM in Modifications

So I take it there are no leaks present? Also, you may have a broken check valve in the pump. Does it get hard to pump it after the fourth or so pump? You should also probably check the air output by putting your hand in front of the primed, UNLOADED, pistol's barrels and squeeze the trigger. If you don't feel very high of a pressure, you may have something that is limiting the amount of air hitting the barrels, hence no range.

#37999 Procrastination

I'm rambling on about things no one cares about.

We both seem to do that.

Merlinski--Is that Brown College or Brown University? Or is it some private high school?

...why is waiting for a while before regestering up procrastinating?

Saying that "I'll sign up tomorrow" when it's tomorrow, that and at one point I was procrastinating to mod my BF, which then led me out of nerf for a year and a month, so that's why I hadn't signed up til this year.

#37896 Psi For Homemade

Mmm...Pi...
Oops! I meant to say twice volume. Sorry, I was thinking twice but typed same for some reaon. I thought I wrote twice, but reading it now it seems I thought it was the same volume, but really I know it would be twice the volume.
I've made a homemade with the hose handle for the trigger and it works well. It's easier to control and gives it a..uh...trigger..feel.
I'll find the link for my Topic at NHQ n a sec.
EDIT: Here we go. If some of the pics don't show, just find the link to the pics in properties and go to that link. You should only have to do it to n pic for the rest to come up.

-TIG.

Hmm...

I don't see a link or anything

Couldn't have put it better.
Is this the thread with the hosehandle homemade you were talking about?

#37890 Size Of Vinyl Tubing

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 27 September 2004 - 08:10 PM in Homemades

Theoretically speaking, in 1/4 in. vinyl tubiing would increase reaction time by having the air moving at a higher pressure because of the constriction of the smaller diameter; which means in the end the same amount of air will reahc its destination in either size tubing. I dunno. I usually just use the 1/4 in. cause I have a billion bits that fit it nicely.

I believe that image belongs on a T-shirt, if it isn't already. It perfectly describes that post (and this one probably). Even though it was aimed towards me, I still think it is quite funny.

#37824 Procrastination

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 26 September 2004 - 07:10 PM in Off Topic

I didn't mean it that way. I was just saying how long I had waited because I procrastinated. Actually, I think quite the opposite. I don't care when someone joined this site, cause no one knows everything; Everyone is still learning something.

So how long did you guys wait and why?

#37808 Psi For Homemade

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 26 September 2004 - 01:27 PM in Modifications

...a cylinder with twice the diameter and half the length of another cylinder also has twice the volume, not the same volume.

In support of your statement, here's some basic PVC tank sizes. For the point of anyones interest, the math is included.
Volume of a cylinder is (pi)r^2(H). r equals .5 inches, and h will equal 20 inches.
(pi).5^2(20)=(pi).0625(20)=15.7079etc. cu. in.
Now, r will equal 1 (for radius of 2 inch PVC), h will equal 10.
(pi)1^2(10)=(pi)1(10)=31.4159etc. cu. in.
15.7079etc(2)=31.4159etc.
There ya go, frigginninja was indeed right. TIG, I've read some you're posts at NHQ and I thought that you knew that as well.

Now, on a side note, for distances/velocities you will have to take barrel diameter and the area of dart that is hit by pressurized air. What I mean by that is if you cut/melt a cone-shaped section into the back of the dart, you increase the surface area of pressurized air hitting the dart. It works very well with mega stefans because you can get about 1.25 sq. in. on the back of that dart, which means that, with an airtank at 25psi, 31.25 pounds of pressure is hitting that dart. Just good luck getting the cone to have that big an area of impact. Someone could use Newton's Second Law and figure out just how fast the dart would be going, just be sure to reduce the velocity with air and barrel friction.

#37770 *le Malicious Grin*

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 25 September 2004 - 04:24 PM in General Nerf

I bought one. Same color as the one in the picture. mine hits 4 feet accurately consistantly. I've noticed that the outside diameter of the pegs that hold the darts should fit 9/16th brass nicely. I'm gonna pick up 3/8th inch fbr for stefan materials instead though.

Is that pic from Walgreens? If so, and this may be for every Walgreens, but your's is set up exactly like mine. I mean...even the products next to the WCLP.

#37736 Semi Auto Sniper Rifle

I finally decided to add some fuel here. First off, use something I thought about earlier. This uses an old helium tank (empty). It was made to hold 500 psi, but it has a built-in regulator allowing it to reach down to about 4 psi. With minor high-pressure valve modifications, this could be filled to 200 psi with an air compressor (my craftsmen will hit 275, but that's too high for most applications). With that regulator set to where you need it, this could easily be used for a multi-shot weapon with a small airtank, its just really bulky. Mind you this tank is about the size of a 5 gallon propane tank. 5g. of 200 psi will last forever on a Titan....maybe. I have already started modifying the tank, all it needs is the fill-valve hole then it's done. I may post my results, if it doesn't blow up on me. :nugget:

AA: There is a way to make a .50BMG fire stefans. Take an empty casing, remove the old primer, replace it with a new on, then fill the casing with an aerosal of your liking. Install a small, heavily weighted dart after the bottleneck of the casing, then strike the primer. It should work, but I have no need to try this (yet).

the "entry gun" style (stock w/ short barrels) AT2K is awesome. I'll have to get one and do the same, as long as you have no problem with me slightly copying you.

Nice job on all of them. Now all a few need are a can of Krylon Fusion.

That makes sense, kinda. But couldn't he have just used his artificial horizon to guide him in the right angle of direction? Unless he had a hydraulic leak and his controls were shot because of it.

Not with macro lines instead of vinyl tubing and using 80 psi regulated CO2. <_<

Seriously though, I was planning on changing those barrels. When I go to Lowes for some wood (unrelated project) I may swing by my Pet Suplies Plus for some hard vinyl tubing. Depends on how much money I have left, cause I still need to pick up some paint for the gun (but thats what dollar stores are for).

Jangadance, is that a screen shot from Terminator 2?

#35895 Problem Solved

It's more like this, not a trigger mechanism attached to the gun, although I have had a few ideas on how to make on of those as well. Just wait and see. It won't be for awhile though becuase my school is starting this week.

As for the pics, they are MASSIVE. I may attempt to downsize them on paint, but they aren't saved on the conputer I am currently on.

#35893 Rf20 Cosmetic Mod

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 30 August 2004 - 05:23 PM in Modifications

Uhhh....yeah, this definately brought on confusion. If you read the little part after the comma on the title of the topic, you will notice that I said it now looks like an XM-214 , which was the army's smallest (.223 Rem) version of the Vulcan gun. It is meant to be hand-held, but the recoil (270 lbs. at 10,000 rpm) quickly did away with that idea. Since it was my favorite version of the GE gats, I decided to make my RF20 look similar to one. Ompa, thanks for getting things cleared up while I was asleep. I am in the midst of giving this gun longer barrels, but they will be 4" max. I like the idea of false barrels, just to make the gun look better. I currently will be trying to get it to hold pressure, because for some reason when I used it today it got a small hole blown in the bladder  . I still don't get how that happened.

#35795 Rf20 Cosmetic Mod

I would, but when I was about to do the same for a trigger release photo when it turns out my photo editer is uninstalled, and I don't have the disk, so it may take awhile.

#35791 Problem Solved

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 29 August 2004 - 06:34 PM in Modifications

If any archers are out there, they will know what I'm talking about. Since my hand doesn't fit to well in the handle of the BnA, I made a trigger release. I will edit this post as soon as I resize the pics of the release.

#35788 Rf20 Cosmetic Mod

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 29 August 2004 - 06:30 PM in Modifications

Since the trigger broke about a year ago, I never used my RF20 until I decided to relocate the grip. This will now be my new primary, just as soon as I make more stefans (I seem to have misplaced all of them). Any comments on it are welcome. Eventually it will be painted translucent blue to match my AT3K, so don't bother telling me to give it a new color.

#35780 New Valve

I've seen them used before. I too, will be making one using this, and it also will have a jspb-style automatic barrel. Have you seen the regulators on the craftsmen aircompressors? I will also be using one of those also. Good luck with your's, I probably won't get mine built.

#35024 Crazy E-bay Guy Again

Some things previously deemed as the impossible are now taken advantage of by many people around the world. My best example? I live in Michigan and can talk to people in Germany without having to wait the six months that the international mail system would take to send my letter there, then for me to get the German's response to me. Now it takes milliseconds for an IM to get there, then I get their reply immediatly after they sent it. So in conclusion, his rototrack could fire the

102 feet angled, which isn't that great,

he said it does, although later stated that it is 85 feet angled, unless that is the XBow he's talking about. So don't just go with what other people have said, experiment with stuff yourself. Now I'm off to go shoot skeet with my 2500 foot-per-second shooting BnA. :w00t:

I posted a design for a crossbow about a month ago. It's on this site here. The pic is kinda big and low quality, but you can still get how to build it. The base of the whole thing was a full-auto modded rubber band pistol. Under the foam insulator at the ends of the bow are notches cut halfway through the PVC in which the rubber bands sit in.

#33711 Non-nerf Pellet Guns

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 10 August 2004 - 09:14 PM in Off Topic

I came into this thread a little late...time to clear a thing up.Green gas is more like propane, not CO2. It is flammable, and has a similar molecular structure. Red gas is also the same (or so I've heard), but at a higher pressure. Now there is a mythed "black gas", which will blow the internals out of a stock GBB (gas blow back) gun.

As for the higher quality spring guns, like the Sun Project M40A1, they can be upgraded with heavier springs, reinforced bolt handles, stronger spring guides, stronger better sealing pistons, tightbore barrels, and gas conversion kits. With the right setup, the rifle mentioned will shoot a bb through your precious crossbow at 75 feet. Trust me on that. But, by the time you get it to that level, it will be outlawed by most American airsoft groups and will have invested upwards of 750USD :nugget: . Although that all changes when you build your own rifle out of a cheap paintball marker, but you lose your RoF.

#32794 Super Power Your Modded Max Shot

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 01 August 2004 - 10:35 AM in Modifications

Stefans could be fired from a 150mm artillery piece. The sabot would be huge and would keep the dart from burning.

My extensively-modded (both internal and cosmetically) singled At3k will make someone bleed at 20 ft. Then again those darts did weigh 3/4 oz. Most accurate darts I ever made.

#31111 Semiautomatic Action Theory

Posted by GeneralPrimevil on 13 July 2004 - 07:55 PM in Homemades

No, but if you did search like taita_cakes said, boltsniper attempted an automatic bullpup rifle powered by explosions of mixtures of different airosals (sp). It used shells though, not just the darts. I, after reading his few threads, took his idea and went a step farther in the design of the shells and would use primers for black powder rifles instead of a grill lighter.. Also, my shells would be made of copper, not PVC, so that they would be thinner. They also would not use standard endcaps, but a soldered piece of sheet copper cut to fit in the back of the pipe/shell thing to give the whole thing a smaller profile. The problems with using explosives to power a Nerf dart, however, is that sealing it is rather difficult. Also, the dart gets slightly singed (looked it up in the dictionary for the spelling) depending on the fit of the dart in the shell/barrel. But as for a recoil or blowback operated gun, ask boltsniper for the hardness of the recoil to base your spring strength on, or experiment yourself.
