#134655 Maverick Spring Rating

Posted by bobafan on 01 January 2008 - 10:12 PM in Modifications

You might want to try a firefly instead because there is more space for electronics and would be more comfortable with larger amounts of weight.

#134523 Need A Fbr Recommendation

Wdworld might still have some orange foam from the same place FA got his from.
He doesn't get on anymore, but he might answer an email.

#134498 Even More Accurate Darts

Posted by bobafan on 31 December 2007 - 03:40 AM in Modifications

P.S. This was all written on my psp, so you better have like made out with your moniter when you were reading my post or something...

I've done that a couple times and forever,

I don't think these darts add any more accuracy than you can get from having the right barrel.

#134497 Adding Another Spring To The Recon

Posted by bobafan on 31 December 2007 - 03:33 AM in Modifications

When you actuate the slide, the plunger tube (the orange bit that sticks out the back) is working against the spring inside the shell just like a mav. On this, he added a seperate chamber made of pvc which acts abainst the plunger tube externally, after it exits the frame.

#134431 Bbb V.s Titan

Posted by bobafan on 30 December 2007 - 03:37 PM in General Nerf

BBB is better because you can actually use it in a war.

Well where I live the war rules are you could use any weapon including homemades. I like it this way because it adds much more fun. Like everyone on the war field has a primary that shoots 120+. Thats how we take it down here

The people you nerf with probably won't be very happy when you give them silver dollar sized welts form a titan.

BBB
+range
+ROF
+mobility
+accuracy

Titan
++range
++acuracy
-mobility
-ROF

Winner?
BBB!

Posted by bobafan on 30 December 2007 - 12:54 AM in Nerf Wars

Man, I wish I could have been there.

I spent my day modding a NF for a friend, buying a bbb and a FF, making up a mod for the bbb and doing it, thinking of a new turret and starting it, and cleaning my basement.

Not a complete loss.

You just need to get a new piece of tubing.
It isn't very expensive.

#134240 Cpvc Turret

Posted by bobafan on 28 December 2007 - 10:08 PM in Modifications

I was bored yesterday, so I decided to make a turret.

Materials

First, some putty epoxy.
Posted Image

Second, an empty thread spool.
Posted Image

Third, your cpvc pieces.
Posted Image

Lastly. a piece of metal rod and some duct tape.

Divide up the spool into segments according to the number of barrels you want.

Mix up some of your epoxy and put it on the spool.
Posted Image

Then attach a barrel, being sure it is on straight.
Posted Image

Repeat as desired, being sure to keep the barrels aligned.

Reinforce as you see fit.
Posted Image

Now, put a glob of epoxy on the end of the metal rod.
Posted Image

Wrap duct tape around the rod so it will fit in the center hole of the spool.
Posted Image

Put the rod through the spool and attach it to the blaster of your choice which should be outfitted with a pvc coupler. Be sure there is space for the turret to be disengaged from the coupler and rotate.

Completed

#134166 At2k Question?

Posted by bobafan on 28 December 2007 - 01:16 PM in Modifications

Is the goo gauge part of the air tank? Because im trying to integrate an at2k into ttg so i need the at2k internals to be as compact as possible. Thanks for the help.

No.

The goo tank is simply a pressure gauge.
Posted Image
When pressure is put into the line, the rubber washer at the base of the goo is pressed up into the goo tube, causing the goo to rise.

#134163 Disc Shot Pistol

Posted by bobafan on 28 December 2007 - 01:02 PM in Modifications

I use springs from ACE for my reinforced catches.
I believe they come in packets of six and I cut them in thirds.
Posted Image
You want your spring to have the same length and width as stock, just have a heavier gauge wire.
You can shave or sand the nub the spring rests on a little bit without doing any damage to the structural integrity of the frame.

I made this tonight in about an hour.
I used PVC, putty epoxy, parts from my old erector set, and one of my minimized couplered NFs.

What type of adapter will be needed to attach our barrels to the end of the blaster?

#134060 Disc Shot Pistol

Posted by bobafan on 27 December 2007 - 09:24 PM in Modifications

If you completely reinforce the internals with epoxy, sheet metal, stronger catch, and longer screws, it should be fine.

#133694 Hey Guys!

Posted by bobafan on 24 December 2007 - 04:23 PM in Off Topic

I have made 3 movies so far. I made shorts on part of the iliad, the boston massacre, and a music video for taxman by by Beatles.
They were shot with legos and constructed with windows movie maker. There are alot fewer fps than this, but I made them in a night apiece.

#133489 Modification and Paintjob Pictures

Posted by bobafan on 23 December 2007 - 01:05 AM in Modifications

I've been asked how I got the water droplets, so here ya go.

I used a technique I saw on the show "how it's made" to make the droplets. You basicly paint the base layers, then spray on some water from a spray bottle. After that, lightly mist the piece with white. The paint will be collected in the droplets and flow to the bottom of each drop, because paint is heavier than water. After that, put the piece near a heat source and wait for the water to dry.
Voila! water droplets.

#133410 +bow

I would like dibs also.

How well does this plastic take paint?

#133330 +bow

Posted by bobafan on 21 December 2007 - 08:06 PM in Homemades

Awesome!
Those pictures are without a barrel, right?
I don't see any sights. Are they hidden or are there not any in the CAD?
What is the function of the U-shaped piece with a hole in it at the muzzle?
The foam handle is a nice idea. It sounds comfortable.
What is the diameter of the plunger tube?

Even at $90, it is cheaper than a x-bow and I would be willing to pay it.

Nice job.

It is supposed to look like there are water droplets on it.
The mod. The only thing I did differently was to use a piece of sintra plastic to cover up the hole in the front instead of hot glue.

#133227 Anyone Done A Ls/spiderman?

Posted by bobafan on 20 December 2007 - 06:02 PM in Modifications

I wouldn't recomend making a LS breech out of PETG, It is prone to shattering when under stress, as happened in CS's ABP (i think). That is unless you found some PETG which is very thick.

#133140 Bbb Rockets

Were the ranges comperable to that of a commercial arrow?

#133052 Wood Tipped Stefan

Posted by bobafan on 19 December 2007 - 06:32 AM in Homemades

Pros: works

Cons: more expensive, more painful, high likelyhood of damage, the head is larger than the foam so there will be a worse seal with the barrel, also, it won't go into a barrel bacalse the head is too big.

Did i miss anything?
