Posted by tatertotguy on 12 August 2009 - 12:13 PM in Nerf Wars

If you look on google maps Welcome Avenue dead ends in the park. Which is where we are going to meet because it is easy to find 'cause this park is big. There are a few restaraunts near by there is a Cub foods close, a donut place, pizza place, sit down restaraunt (if you want). Lets make this war awesome!

#195717 Range Shot

Posted by tatertotguy on 12 December 2008 - 08:27 PM in Modifications

I recently picked this gun up it has the ability to angle the barrel while keeping the rest of the gun horizontal (it has a protractor like thing on the front to precisely measure the angle).
Materials:
cpvc
coupler
e-tape
M10 washer
super glue
Posted Image
Here it is unprimed.

And here it is angled and primed.
http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m384/sw...gleshot0005.jpg
It even has realistic sights!
The internals are very simple here is the catch and trigger.
Next I replaced the plastic washer to hold the spring in the plunger tube with a metal metric (M10) I found at Ace, to add reinforcement. I also stretched the stock spring.

Next I cut a 2.5" piece of cpvc and put a coupler on it and wrapped the coupler in e-tape.

Then to make a better seal around the hollow post I put an old stock dart in the cpvc (without the top).

Then I super glued the coupler at the front of the stock barrel.
Here it is finished.

I don't have official ranges yet because it is dark out I will post them tomorrow.
Sorry about the pic size.

OK I'll work on changing it.

#195824 Range Shot

Posted by tatertotguy on 13 December 2008 - 10:49 AM in Modifications

I think you'd get better results if you cut the tube short and shove the barrel all the way into the orange part on top. There's a lot of dead space there.

Couplers make it easier to reload because you don't have to ram rod the dart.
There isn't that much dead space. The point of the mod was to still keep the gun as long as possible.
The stock ranges are about ten feet.

#186361 Possible Mod To A Marshmallow Gun

#164169 Places That You Wish You Could Nerf

Posted by tatertotguy on 24 July 2008 - 04:38 PM in General Nerf

I'd say the Colusseum in Rome, the Tower of London, The Vatican, and the Mall of America!!! (I have been to all of those places and they would be so frickin' amazing for nerfing. And I would also add Ostia a Roman port it has tons of partially destroyed buildings and tunnels and there are tons of walls and pillars for cover.

NerfCrazy you need to get it to work with the headgear it was so awesome (in a lame sort of way)

#164408 Outlet Powered Vulcan

Posted by tatertotguy on 25 July 2008 - 12:51 PM in Modifications

When I recieve my Vulcan I will by a 9v. transformer and e-tape the wires to the battery terminals just to see if it will work before I destroy the internal wireing by trying to parralel wire it.

#164466 Outlet Powered Vulcan

Posted by tatertotguy on 25 July 2008 - 04:12 PM in Modifications

I was being optomistic about the options we can use to power the Vulcan.

#164203 Outlet Powered Vulcan

Posted by tatertotguy on 24 July 2008 - 05:35 PM in Modifications

The kind of transformer I was thinking of was a cell phone charger that has a 9v. output. All you would have to do is strip the wires and attach alligator clips to the ends of the wires and connect the clips to the battery terminals.

#164640 Outlet Powered Vulcan

Posted by tatertotguy on 26 July 2008 - 01:38 PM in Modifications

When I get my Vulcan in the mail I will first do basic mods then carefully move on to other forms of power.

#164207 Outlet Powered Vulcan

Posted by tatertotguy on 24 July 2008 - 05:41 PM in Modifications

You could also E-tape the clips on.

#164286 Outlet Powered Vulcan

I was thinking that you could set up some type of pill box or bunker with a lookout to call the shots like a loser team and they could cover you while you reload. The whole premise of the plug and shoot was if you were in an indoor war you could use the extension cord if the batteries went dead as a failsafe.

#164192 Outlet Powered Vulcan

Posted by tatertotguy on 24 July 2008 - 05:12 PM in Modifications

My dad is an electritian and he says if you get a 9v. transformer you can wire up the Vulcan so all you have to do is plug it in and shoot. I am also thinking of the possibility of having this be removable so you can take the transformer out and convert it back to battery power.

What the heck someone fricked with my post it originally said $niper team!!! Every time I go to write the word $niper it changes it to loser?

So, some nomenclature:

What you're talking about is not a transformer, but a power supply, and then you are correct.

The trouble with using a transformer (which is just a matched pair of coils) is that there is no rectification of AC to DC. the Vulcan runs on DC - running it on AC has the potential to seriously damage it.

So something that you could in fact do is use a 120VAC-9VAC transformer, and a piece of electronics called a "bridge rectifier" which is in fact simply four diodes which chop the AC waveform into an all-positive set of humps, and a capacitor to smooth that waveform out to something closely approximating steady-state DC.

That is a good idea and if you really wanted to get fancy you could attach a photovoltaic panel (solar panel) to it for unlimited power or even attach a mini wind turbine.

Here is a picture of how a bridge rectifier works:

#166845 New Nerfer Database

I think there is going to be an increase in Nerf related crime such as RF20 drive-by's and people getting sniped in their back yard by a singled Titan. This google map could be very useful.

#180236 Mnno Recap Thread.

Posted by tatertotguy on 28 September 2008 - 05:51 PM in Nerf Wars

The MNNO was awesome. Just about as awesome as my quad whopper from BK.
Pros:great weather
no guns breaking
getting a ride to BK
shooting Gage with my SM1500 (just kidding)
lots of fun rounds
Cons:the stair infection complete with ground bee hive :D
getting hit in the balls with the Ultimator point blank
freaking asian golf or whatever it was

It was awesome I can't wait till the next one.

If you're worried about the police coming just bring some orange safety tape and tie it on everyones guns that look too realistic. About the plugged pump Big Blasts just limit the number of times people pump them.

#181766 Mms 1100

Posted by tatertotguy on 05 October 2008 - 05:15 PM in Modifications

I picked up this nice marshmallow shooter at the thrift store for 80 cents. It came with some foam pellets that didn't go very far. The plunger pull is massive it puts out a lot of air pressure. Here's the mod.

Tools:
Dremel
hot glue or some epoxy

Materials:
cpvc coupler
a piece of fbr or some foam

First cut off the front end where it narrows Dont cut it flush with the blue plastic piece that holds the front on. Then take the ammo tube off the back and shove your piece of fbr or your foam in the back of the place where the air comes out don't shove it in too far because it will cut off air flow. Next fill the back with hot glue. Then put your coupler on the front add a bungee and your done.
Here's pictures.
This shows the coupler on the front and the bungee placement.

THis picture shows the massive plunger pull.

The ranges it gets are 80' flat and about 100' angled.
Sorry about the picture size.
