I'm not sure where they get these beaten up guns from. I saw a $20 Vulcan at my Goodwill too, and about a week ago they had a $10 Recon. I even got an NF a few months ago for $4 in a shitty box.

Seems like people buy them, ruin the boxes, drop them off at Goodwill and they get sold for half price.

I don't know why Nerf micros wouldn't fit. I'm not sure how putting PVC over the Crayola helps, so I'd say yes. I did a regular Crayola mod on mine and get about 49' flat with bands. It's not the best but it gets the job done. You can do a straight Crayola mod, but having PVC over it looks better, at least I think so. Good luck.

You should start using Stefans too, unless you can't find materials.

I found one at K-mart when I went, but it was freaking $30! They also have tons of old edition NFs, that was what I was looking for.

I don't think the Teks get 30' flat, more like 20', but it's still a good deal. I wish mine were that cheap.

This could have been posted somewhere else or you could have even *gasp* asked someone in REAL LIFE for advice! You could have gotten some dandy advice from your "parents" or even "friends" that could possibly have been even better than that on a Nerf forum (not to say Falcon and Pineapple's words weren't good advice).

The point is, Shindig HAS to bother reading it, that's what admins do: keep the site in order and keep crap like this off of the forums. So don't tell him things like "don't bother reading it."

I use CPVC for all my guns and my 1/2" FBR is pretty thick. It still fits fine, even on my airguns I get decent range. If your FBR doesn't seem to fit, just try again. I ended up returning the first length of CPVC I bought because it was so tight, but now it's all I use.

One more possible explanation for why your gun's shooting high is because when the plunger head slams into the end of the plunger tube the sudden shift in weight from the back to the front of the gun could cause it to kick upward. That's probably not the problem considering you chopped off the cocking handle though. If you make sure to hold it absolutely steady when shooting it and it still shoots upward it could be a problem with your darts or barrel. Bob's suggestion about the PETG is definitely possible, it really makes more of a difference than you'd think. If that's the case you'll have to stick a Dremel in there with a deburring head and clear out any little irregularities you can find in the end of the barrel.

As for the plunger head seal, Splitlip is right. It will help the range as long as it doesn't start slowing down from the increased contact with the inside of the plunger tube.

Finally, adding a trigger to a bow would be cool but probably not practical considering how massive the plunger is. The recoil would be crazy and the accuracy would suffer, which is one of the main complaints with a B'nA without a trigger. I don't really think adding a trigger would help that problem but it might make it easier to keep the gun primed until you're ready to fire it.

This is an awesome idea. I never thought of using anything other than hot glue; not only would 1105s not hurt you as badly, but they would be much easier to find, especially in the grass outside or in the dark. If they made glow-in-the-dark Plasti Dip that would be even better for night. Excellent job. And maybe if you took a normal Stefan and put the Dip all over the body and the tip and back (the whole thing) it would still work out of barrel modded guns but still be easy to find and look cool. Nice job.

It's like the Maverick, as I see it. It would be an interesting mod and make it into an awesome indoor weapon, on account of its great RoF, but I wouldn't bother, because there are other guns with decent rates of fire that can achieve better ranges when modded. That's just me though; it's an interesting mod, but I'd just use a Ballzooka or MP-150, if I could get my hands on one.

It is a good idea though, if you like ballguns and high RoF guns.

I assume all you plan on using this gun for is shooting things and screwing around with it. That's fine. NH just tends not to be too accepting of new ideas when they're incomplete. If you had posted a video or pictures of this new idea after it was completed, we would all have applauded you. But, since you simply told us the basic idea and asked for help on it, most people here aren't willing to help you. The thing is, most people here aren't interested in ideas this complex. Sure, it would be kickass if you pulled it off and had something to fire Nerf darts of all things at incredible speeds like that, but (hopefully) the majority of us here are more interested in actually playing than working with ideas like this. There's nothing wrong with building something like this to fire Nerf darts at the speeds you're talking about, it's just that (at least this is the way I feel) Nerf, as Pineapple said, is about simplicity. We all just want to go outside and shoot each other. When you speak of "revolutionizing" Nerf in such a way as this, it really isn't well-received at all because most of us don't want guns firing that fast without some serious disadvantages.

Example:

A 2k, LBB, etc. will get great range and accuracy but bad rate of fire while a Powerclip/Magstrike/RF20 will get great rate of fire but somewhat poor range and usually very bad accuracy. The gun you're talking about building and "revolutionizing" Nerf with would have all of these things and more. That would just take all the fun out of Nerf for me. Some people would love to have all of these things in one gun, but after ACTUALLY NERFING a few times, I realize that that's just pointless. I used to be interested in this kind of thing (although I knew far less about it than you seem to), but I didn't get the same rush out of paintball that I do from Nerf, so if you want to have something like this go ahead, but don't assume it will be a welcomed idea at a place like this where the majority of us really Nerf and know what we're talking about when we say that a gun like that would take the point out of Nerf. Put it this way: my most complex gun is a Big Blast (LBB clone) with the pump plugged and a PVC coupler. THAT'S IT. And I still enjoy Nerf (like, actually playing, not just modding) more than anything else I've been into.

Point is, Pineapple and ompa (and I'd like to think myself as well) have been around the block a few times. There's a difference between Nerf and airsoft/paintball, and if we were all into high rate of fire cannons that fire 200' with 300 shots in cue, why do you think any of us would've chosen Nerf? Granted, some of us Nerf, and paintball, and airsoft all at once, but they still have to be kept separate. That's what makes Nerf special and why all of us geeks have devoted so much time to it (except Pineapple, he's a busy guy and not really a geek, but he still enjoys Nerf).

I'm 13 and I have played paintball and I could take it. I don't think modded nerf gun could do much worse, or are your guns super modded?

As I think it's already been said (just thought I'd say it again if it has), pain tolerance has nothing to do with it. Generally I don't get shot by insanely powerful guns when I play so pain isn't a major factor, but maybe if you ask someone who's been shot by a Big Blast you'd get a different answer. The combo of adrenaline and usually being shot on clothing rather than bare skin generally keeps the pain level at a low level. The only time I've ever really been in pain during a war was when someone chased me down with a Magstrike and diddled me with about eight shots.
