this is the most powerful spring pistol i have.
The mod is 4" cpvc barrel. A nightfinder spring plus a firefly spring. And both springs are streched by heating and cooling then i gave it a slightly larger o ring and the biggest band i could find. It gets awesome ranges and good accuracy. But the rof is slow do to how hard it is to pull back the plunger.
heres the ranges

1 94'
2 93'
3 96'
4 lost
5 92'
6 98'
7 97'
8 95'
9 93'
10 95'

p.s darts are stefans

Wow. That's crazy. Giant rubberband... I know you have plenty of reinforcement, right? Otherwise it's gonna explode right in your hands.

That band looks like it's going to fall off any second, or snap over the cocking handle. You might want to double it over and wrap it around the grip - or put a little peg in the top of the gun to put it on. Sorry the description is shitty, but it's hard to describe.

Remeasure.

I own a NF with the STRONGEST spring alive( It clearly cracks the front of the pistol in two shots.) And it can't quite hit 80'.

Your barrel is also slanted downward, which shows that your ranges are definitely wrong.

Really? I didn't think springs were living organisms.

Note he said he has two springs. I'm not sure how that works, but last time I checked, in most cases, this included, 2>1.

The apparent slant of the barrel is likely due to the angle at which the picture was taken. Note that the other features of the gun slant in a similar manner.

Given my experiences with Nitefinders, It is difficult for me to believe that the internals of said weapon could handle the force needed to achieve those ranges. Under what exact conditions were those shots measured?

Ok there funny guy. You knew what I meant.

And in this case my spring is better than his two springs. I just looked at my FF spring and EX-3 spring and the spring that Carrtoon and Ryan use(which is the one I have) is much stronger.

Well, nerfer, if you can't even hit 80' with the strongest spring alive you must be pretty bad at modding. There are many NF's that can hit 70'+ without any danger of it breaking, so maybe you just need to remeasure. As for the 100' Im sure it gets close enough to 90' because of that huge rubber band or it might be you just angled it a bit up by accident. I also think your NF will break if you don't have any reinforcement.

Nerfer34, 800 posts and still no one believes you. I'd just leave.

Nice mod arbiter. I would take RAMBO's advice and secure the rubber band or use a different set up of bands/ bungies.

Well-played sir. Nerfer34, I've also seen you voice your opinion in a wide multitude of threads. I've also noticed that much of it was bickering, as seen with RAMBO here. And it's the bickering I've seen around the boards lately that's put a damper on my posting. I had the same thing in mind as Renegade, but he took the initiative to speak up. I'm not trying to shun the experiences you've had in Nerfing; you have provided valuable insight and been a constructive member so far, but exercise some willpower over the post button.

On topic, I believe the possiblity of reaching the potential for 90' ranges with the NF. I don't see it being reliably stable at this magnitude. My NFs will shoot 60'-70' with slight banding, nested crayola in PVC, and stretched spring (no replacement). My buddy had one reaching 80' with his spring replacement and similar specifications to mine, but the front part his plungershaft blew out the front of the gun. Have you done anything to reinforce this? I am assuming that if you haven't, you probably haven't fired the gun much. But with what you seemingly have achieved, I'd give you props.

I had an oldschool NF that could hit 80 accuratly with a small bungie and a TTG plunger and spring. I didn't reinforce it though, so it needs worked on.

The ranges are true the nf spring is old school not ex 3. Yes i reanforced the crap out of it its kinda heavy from all the metal. The band wont be coming off anytime soon its very tight i have already put over 100 rounds through it and it has not moved. The barrel is not angled down it is simple the angle of the pic. I dont know whats wrong with your nf nerfer34 but i know these ranges are true i held it as flat as i could get and used a 200' tape.

Yea I must have missed all of what you did.

This is an honest range test for an NF Nf mod

He seemed to make a good seal. That is also an old school spring. And he gets 50', so......

Yeah, there are only two dozen links there. You're right, Renegade's contributed nothing to this site at all; I'm sure you've done much more than that.

I had a nf that hit around that range, with 3 1st gen nf springs and petg. I had reinforced the gun with metal and put pieces of pvc and brass in the empty space to keep the plunger tube and barrel from moving. The front of the gun blew out after mabye 300 shots. So just be careful with the super powerful springs and stuff.

You're a fucking dolt. If EVERYONE that read it, and I'm betting 90%+ that read it interpreted it like NerfMonkey did, "misinterpretted" it, what the fuck does that say? Maybe, it's what YOU said that's off - not someone's comprehension of what you said. If we all "misinterpreted" it then why don't you fucking explain what you meant?

"Yea I must have missed all of what you did." - What else can that mean? Please, enlighten ALL of us, since you are a genius and seem to know how to phrase things that all of us IDIOTS can't understand.

Rags also said, if you read the whole thing, that he thought it could achieve even greater ranges.

If you didn't notice, LoTR merely said that he thinks you've contributed a decent amount of information to the site, NOT that he agreed with you. As a matter of fact he specifically said he agreed with Renegade, and that you were not the only one posting badly.

There have been 5 posts from members senior to you in this thread that disagree with you and one who seems to be "on your side," but willing to at least inquire a little more before making a judgment call. Let this one go bud.

'edit-spelling.

Oh dear sweet jesus! One of my more newbish posts. At the time I was measuring with my shoes. 12" shoe + one foot in front of the other = accurate range. Or so I thought. Man I was so wrong.

Do I beleive a nightfinder can hit 100 feet yes.
Do I beleive nerfer34 made an error somewhere in his modification to only allow his NF to reach 80'. Yes.
Sure a NF can hit 100 feet but if its going to break in less than a month who would want it?
Lets not forget kiddies, to extend the life of your plunger guns add a bit of foam rubber to the base of the plunger tube.

Its time to stop flaming each other and get back to modding our guns. I would love to see less threads about flaming and more threads about write ups.

100 ft pistols are useless against any primary. A nf is a sidearm, why have it shoot as far as a primary? Your suppose to use it as a last resort when you can no longer use your primary.

Either talk about the 100 foot nightfinder, or can the argument.

Next argumentative poster gets some time off.

Geeze. First time checking the board in awhile and it's like a pre-school fight for LEGOs.

My opinion is similar to FA_24's.

100 foot shooting Nightfinder = possible.

100 foot shooting Nightfinder = not a bright idea unless you like broken guns.

100 foot shooting Nightfinder ≠ masculinity, physical toughness, or strategic superiority.

100 foot shooting Nightfinder = dick-waving contest on forums and arguments regarding truth or fiction about 100 foot shooting Nightfinders.

Frankly, I think that about 60% of range claims are pure, unadulterated bullshit. I hardly believe the range claims I read about, save from the few modders I have respect for (and who, enviously, are able to video-document the range tests.)

When people throw the insult that they cannot mod well because they cannot get a blaster to shoot "like everyone else", even if it's something as outrageous as a 100 foot shooting NiteFinder, I have to claim sides with the minority.

None of my NiteFinders shoot further than 50-60 feet. 7 of my 8 NiteFinders are the first-gen variety, with the "good" spring. I mod with Crayola barrels, PETG, and CPVC. I don't band.

All my NF's are still around. If I need more range, I'll bust out my RoadBlocker or my "new" SM1500.

I got one of my NFs to go almost 200 feet. Well, it went about 120-150 feet then it bounced several times after I threw it end over end.

So I win.

That should end all arguments NOW.

RAMBO is right this time...drop it, everyone.

Nerfer34, you're pushing everyone's buttons. Save it for NHQ.

NerfMonkey, thanks for the assist, but we have it here. Go moderate at NHQ, where this argument actually belongs.

maverick_x, save it. You can fight back when you grow up some. That link, was a good argument with my buddy FA_24 over a year ago.

People, at nerf wars, have what are known as "pistol rounds". It's pretty self-explanatory. It may not need to be 100 feet for those rounds, but how can you know the range mid mod? If you're working, you don't have a little buzzer that goes off when you increase range by 10 feet. Maybe he never thought it would get that high and just wanted maximum potential.
