I just recently learned that Bigshocks are great fun to paint - I thought I'd do a bit of a class system mash-up...

First up, the blue-collar version:

And from the other end of town, the raver:

He's got a good party trick too - just add UV light!

So, I finally did some messing around with the Magnus. Not the best paint job, but it's amazing what you can do with a dry $1 sponge brush.

FMLX5HFJ2UPA70X.MEDIUM.jpg

I've been playing The Phantom Pain recently, so I'm going through a bit of a stun-gun phase. That means chunky weapons, blue features, and caution stripes.

FU004TKJ2UPA72M.MEDIUM.jpg

I did this before the paint, but one of the first things I did was make an adapter for 12mm Elite darts. The 19mm Mega is still relatively new, so we have way less darts. I didn't want to be left high and dry in a fight.

FMLE4OJJ2UPA73N.MEDIUM.jpg

It even fits nicely into the magazine, so I can load it as the last shot and waste no time switching to Elites.

FXUPPVFJ2UPA747.MEDIUM.jpg

But wait, what the heck is...

FYCXWHZJ2UPA75U.MEDIUM.jpg

Huh, some printed part?

FJN3WCMJ2UPA76E.MEDIUM.jpg

Oh, it's a rail expansion/wrapper. Now I can add a scope.

Hellcat 180s, Artifact red cage with worker wheels, Jase 3D extended motor cover and extended battery door. Worker stock and forgrip. I 3D printed the barrel extension and the nerf to picatinny rail for the reflex sight.

I don't usually do work-in-progress updates, but then I haven't done a lot of bodywork modifications either, so these are both things that I need to work harder at in the future...

In that spirit, here's a little something that I'm working on right now - a shortened Mega Centurion.

I'm also thinking of turning the left-over barrel into some sort of telescopic sight for another of my rifles - waste not, want not...

I did some tinkering in advance of Armageddon. Getting the whole family ready.

The Small Soldiers 5000 has a Panther airtank expanded to the size of a +bow plunger tube and shoots very well. The SuperMaxx 2000 has a stock tank. The SuperMaxx 500 has an AT2K pump but the stock tank, and the whole thing is a hellish nightmare inside.

A yo it's mysterio on korned's account, this is about two days worth of modding.

Two overhauled crossbows with homemade internals, one tank relocated brassed 5k, one couplered 5k,a cpvc singled longshot, a cpvc singled 1k, couplered 3b with cut down [k26], a bunch of pistols, and some other stuff.

Sleeper brass breech Longshot. ~15kg spring load, reinforced sled with metal sheet. No kit parts inside.

Can use full-length darts or stefans. Shoots through flatrate cardboard with #8 slugs.

I bought the .stl file off Blasterforge's etsy (a pretty reasonable price) and printed off 3 at my school's makerspace. Pretty nice considering buying the file was less than one prefabbed kit pump grip and I can print off as many as I want.

This thread has been a bit stagnant lately - my excuse is that it's winter down here in little ol' NZ, and my rattle-cans are all below-optimum temperature...

I have a few things on the boil right now, including this little piece:

***** UPDATE *****

Introducing the Nitefinder EX-H (short for EXtra Hoses)

K2Prpfk.jpg

30UiKIY.jpg

Matt black primer went on first, and I decided that I might as well dry-brush the metallic surfaces before masking them off and continuing. Next came the flat green of the handle and tac-light unit. At this stage I could have drybrushed these elements too, but there were some additional pieces that overlapped these areas when assembled, and so I held off until it was clearer where those parts sat. The green areas were masked, then rust-brown primer was applied and sprinkled liberally with salt, ready for the matt aluminium to go over the top. When the aluminium was dry, the salt was washed away and any areas that were to remain as rusty metal were masked. One more masking layer was applied - this time using masking fluid - to supply the flaked paint effect. One last layer of paint - a slightly different shade of green, and once that was dry the masking fluid could be rubbed away and the weathering applied.

Nice and simple ;)

Well, since the official Crossbow thread is locked, here goes.

20170725_183047.jpg

Plunger rod and head, trigger, spring rest, and plunger tube brackets are 3d printed. The main-spring is of dubious origin, left from Owner #1.

Next up: order a skirt seal from McMaster and paint the blaster black (primer/base-coat).

Hi guys,

this is my optical mod of a Nerf Jolt. Since it is my first prop project I thought to better start small. Thanks for all the great resources, tutorials and tips that were a very big help. The gun is still fully functional and the internals can be maintained.
Any constructive critique or tips for improvements are always welcome.

Materials used include:
- CD case (for the ammo clip and other detail parts)
- deodorant spray bottle cap (for the muzzle break)
- white Milliput (for filling and sculpting)
- super glue + baby powder (for filling)
- clear packaging plastic backed with blue painted paper (for the slits)
- Montana spray cans

Inspiration for paint job: German Navy Sea King

Here's a nice, simple one - I didn't want to go too over-the-top as I wanted it to be a fully usable blaster. I did take the time to remove every little piece of the camouflage pattern in the plastic though...

I don't think the red had dried completely before I started weathering it, which had the effect of the black acrylic actually staining the enamel paint - something I've never seen before...

It also has an Orange Mod Works upgrade kit in it - ABS plunger rod, heavier spring, and of course, the metal trigger that gives it the 'we mean business' look.

Slimeball Gobzooka 'singled' for rival rounds, it will shoot up to four (that's all that will fit in the barrel.) The safety hole was plugged with a little pellet of JB weld plastiweld and hot glued over, then I used the rest of the plastiweld to secure the barrel, which is a Firefly plunger tube.

wXAzZAq.jpg?1

Doesn't shoot through cardboard, which means it's safe! Right? Right.

My personal sidearm, a modified stryfe. It has the option to run on the stock 4 aa batteries, or upgrade to 6. That way you have the option of running 6 or 9 volts. This is great since I use my stryfe for plinking around the house, and in outdoor wars. I can use the stock voltage around the house, meaning my motors don't get damaged, and I won't accidentally damage drywall, etc. When I need the velocity of a modified blaster, I can switch to the 9 volts.

The moment a few people with very specific interests have been waiting for!

May I present the Nerf Mega Centurion BMF Assualt Rifle.

The paintjob may look complicated, but in fact I was able to do the bulk of the work over the space of a single weekend. Gotta love quick-drying paint!

4f0ZHwg.jpg

There's a lot going on here, so I've broken with tradition and made 2 sets of detail images:

WD8jWzM.jpg

z0Gghh9.jpg

And also a pic of the clip by itself - I can't express how happy I am with how this turned out - not in a way that I could type out in a forum anyway...

RQljcia.jpg

And a warts-and-all closeup of the holographic sight, which was commandeered from the Modulus range. I might have to get a few more of these - they sure look the business...

Thanks for looking :)

My latest piece is an exploration of what steampunk tech would look like if it was found today - like it was discovered in a damp cupboard under the sink in a decrepit Victorian villa. Something like that anyway...

2xPCaei.jpg

I even went and painted all of the internal components as well, even though you really need a torch to see it - oh well...
