LiterSize, I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of downloading ten of those pictures to post in this thread to make it prettier.

Posted Image

What the fuck am I doing?

Posted Image

Like a ninja.

Posted Image

There's some stuff going on here. I can't really tell what, though.

Posted Image

Team Caution team rush.

Posted Image

Fantastic composition here.

Posted Image

RSCBs seem to be infecting the Midwest with their usefulness.

Posted Image

Is that Beaver using a stock Arrowstorm? With arrows? Yes. Yes it is. That was nice of you guys to throw them back to him.

Posted Image

What happened to that hit, Chicago Nerf Mob? I didn't get hit at all that round!

Posted Image

Okay, maybe once.

Posted Image

I love that I have a sort of ":3" going on here.

I have only one thing to complain about. The location. There was quite a bit of open field that we had to play in. It would be nice if we could get some more cover so I can shoot people behind trees. So maybe take that into consideration when hosting the next war. If you want to move it out to the 'burbs, I know plenty of places we could play at.

The barricades didn't really work too well. But , I think that can be fixed.

Now all you guys need to make it down to MN for a war, so Team 1500 can pwn. Ryan, you need to get your 1500 working again, and by the way, do you happen to have an extra turret guard? Zach diddled the one he gave me.

Looks like it was fun. What's this Defend the Core? Will Hairy Beaver and Ryan be allowed to bring it back?

Again, Snake is the only one who can talk. We NEED more midwest clashes and Effeminate Nerf-outs.

I'll get it working again. Or just get a new one. I felt weird not using it yesterday.

I think I might have an extra turret guard laying around somewhere.

But, yes, we need an Effeminate Midwest Nerf out sometime soon.

I'd like to apologize to Ryan for looking like a massive douche in this picture. I didn't realize you were talking to me or leaving.

Also, I did shake his hand, about 30 seconds after this picture was taken.

Finn, i have no idea what the fuck you're talking about with the "diddle Gun." Also, you certainly did not hit Zorn from any more than sixty feet with that PAS.

When Demon Lord pulled out that crazy shtgunned 4B, someone said diddle gun, and Demon Lord called it that quite a few times. I fixed my post, I guess, but I did shoot him ALOT from inside those bushes. My PAS wasn't shooting very well in the morning but I enventually fixed it, and it was shooting over peoples heads (I wasn't expecting it to shoot that far, so I angeled it and it shot as high as a crazy crackhead).

Ah such a great time, I'm looking forward to the next one!

+ Getting able to Nerf with I9, Zorn, Merzlin, Ryan McNumbers, Liter, Beaver, and everyone else
+ Pegging Ryan in the head for the second straight war, and him constantly whizzing darts over my head. (I'm not intentionally aiming for the head and neither was Ryan, I think...)
+ Getting a Sharpshooter 2 from Beaver
+ Playing the new gametypes! Enjoyed them all!
+ Getting the 4 blocks with the crossfire shield. Maybe its a shield that only people named Brian can use...

- Tom and I having issues with our PASs
- Invincibility?
- Fucking up my left hand badly the night before the war, prevented me from using my Magstrike...

I had an even better time than before. I9, I put an order in for some 1/4" slingshot weights. After chatting it up, I've figured out the best sized weight. Seeing RSCB's in action in MN and at ChANO2 convinced me that they are as effective or moreso than a breach or speedloader. I'll be using them soon.

I'd gladly work something out with everyone to get a posse up to show those MN people what pwnage really means. Forget the coasts, the midwest is where it's at!!! More to come later...

Ouch. I actually have some battle scars to report. I had a bandaid on my knee that day, and once I took it off, look what it revealed!:

My goodness Merzlin... owch.

Snake - what size FBR is it you use for your darts again?

And Ryan, what areas do you suggest?

I would think maybe in Defend the core we can use something stronger than a cardboard box? I can keep my water jug when I'm done with it...

I made it back to the cold north. Highlights, before I collapse from exhaustion:

+ Getting to nerf with Snake, Ryan##, Ice9, Zorn, Merzlin, Liter, Bigred, Demon Lord, and the Chicago Mob.
+ Using dual nitefinders for most of the day. I had such a hoot using them.

Is that Beaver using a stock Arrowstorm? With arrows? Yes. Yes it is..

+ Rushing a whole team armed with PAS's with my stock arrowstorm, and getting multiple kills in the process. At least, that's how I remembered it.
+ The double shame of being taken out by a Titan rocket, and a ballgun.

Sorry guys, the cam was an Effeminate fail. All I have from that is a few seconds of test footage I snagged of Beaver spinning his pistol on his finger.

At least the important footage was saved :(

I put an order in for some 1/4" slingshot weights. After chatting it up, I've figured out the best sized weight.

They are ideal for the guns you field. Throw some RSCB clips on your PASes while you're at it -- they will make you happy.

The rest of Chicago was fun; I spent the afternoon of Sunday wandering around.

I think we can still say that the vulcan is a fail in the field? Although to be fair the one in use was used and probably why it jammed so much. I'll give mine a test next go around.

Let the record show Beaver also won a round of deathmatch using only those nightfinders. there was a doomsayer and PAS's in play, as well.

ChANO2 was just as Effeminate as the first one, plus I didn't have the load to haul this time!
Btw: The diddle Gun's actual name is The Bullwinkle attachment. I'll have a write-up in a couple of weeks hopefully...in theory

+ Having my newest attachment design work flawlessly
+ Getting a kill with an almost stock Titan (Sorry Beaver!)
+ Still having an Effeminate CTF game
+ Striking fear into the hearts of my opponents as part of Team Juggernaut
+ Being reminded why I started in this hobby

- Still long delays between rounds (didn't help I showed up lately, so this isn't a big deal)
- Not having that playground
- Invincibility?
- STILL falling out of that tree...

I look forward nerfing with everyone again and attending more wars over the summer.
And for those who are interested, Kast Run is the friend of mine.

Well I don't know the city too well, but I know plenty of locations out here. The best thing about the suburbs is the large number of public parks. If you wanted me to, I could scout out a future location.

Ryan: I see you're out near Lombard? Is that anywhere near the north shore, or otherwise? I live near glenview, morton grove, park ridge and there are some decent areas in these parts and open fields. FOr sure we could all get some mobstacles together tho. You scout there, I'll scout here, and maybe Zorn can toss in his .02 also. We know Snake's got something cooking.

No. Western suburbs. I'm closer to Glen Ellyn and Wheaton. There are at least 3 or 4 forest preserves in the immediate area that we can play at with an infinite amount of space. I have a couple locations in mind. I'll let you guys know what I can come up with.

Wanted to toss this in... I know I had my reply above but i'm bringing this piece over from my blog-

"And there we were. 14 guys taking pot shots at each other with foam projectiles on the University of Chicago campus. This was nerf war, this was ChANO... 2 (Chicago Area Nerf Out... 2)!

Once again hosted by Ice Nine and Zorn's Lemma, this would mark the final ChANO on the U of C grounds, as classes were finishing up and Ice Nine'd be making his way to the west coast. Starting at 10 AM, the foam was primed and we were ready to continue this madness with a bang. From a +bow.

The day's events included a few things... like running.
Photobucket

Game types included Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Wingman, Defend the Core, Capture the Flag, and pistols-only rounds. Luckily, the chill from the previous ChANO had gone, and the wind was pretty still.

Highlights included one gent, Daniel Beaver taking the free-for-all round armed only with 2 nitefinders. Later in the day he would use only an Arrowstorm during a round. Ryan#s and Ice9 cemented the mythology surrounding +bows, especially Ryan seeing as how he tagged me seeking cover behind a barricade from a good distance away. Cripes.

- Snake managed to get a few blocks with a crossfire shield, demonstrating that yes, Virginia there is something besides a Manta you can use. To be fair, Crossfire shields are only allowed depending on the war. Maybe in Chicago, we can start the trend.

- Living the "It's away!" dream when I used my longshot/rocket storm integration to bust the core wide open when Team Caution was on assault during Defend the Core.

- The Vulcan? Still not building a case that it's proper for the battlefield.

- The wildfire's "Loud as hell" and pretty good for keeping people away from the core.

- "Indiana Jones" moment reaching for my sidearm and finding it fell out of my holster.

- THE XXL BAZOOKA WAS USED IN BATTLE.

- I even spent a round wearing a clone trooper helmet, defending the honor of the Republic.

Alright, let's look at some things that I learned over the course of the day-

* Zig-zag running, very important if you're not speedy. Probably would have helped in the aforementioned shot I took from Ryan.

* I knew this was a bad idea, but for one round I was packin' a spider-man wrist blaster, the XXL Bazooka, and my blastfire. Too many cooks in the broth, and it was hard to keep everything loaded not misfire the spider-man blaster when reaching for my blastfire and vice versa. 2 at most when going into a fight, unless you're packing pocket blasters.

* I think I need to weight my darts more, my accuracy will thank me.

* Beaver and Snake I think got into a pretty decent discussion about the necessity of sidearms. If you're good with your primary, you really don't need it. Even Zorn admitted his NF was only there to take up space. After my 3 gun round experiment, I agree.

* OBSTACLES ARE NICE. I need to rework the legs on mine, but I've got pieces to make some more, and this definitely needs looking into.

Anyway, that's a good bit of what she wrote. 'Til next time... keep your barrels loaded, Space Cowboy. "

@Beaver - Glad to hear you got home safe. I am in the processing in figuring what parts to get for the RSCB's like we chatted about.

@Liter Size- I use mile high foam. 9/16 with tightening rings for springers. It's solid. My friend Rich or Hollywood as we call him had the vulcan. It was just a massive joke. It was incredibly useless. Everytime he went to fire, the gun jammed. When he took a check to see if it worked, it shot fine. It seemed to be an issue of the moving and jerking easily jamming. However, it was funny to hear him yell and the motor rev on the vulcan and see some people fear the noise... I was tempted when you had the clone trooper helmet to yell, "Execute order 66" and see you turn on your team to join the dark side...
-------------

Speaking of the man with tthe vulcan. Who has the pic of him covered in the danger tape with the PAS and vulcan in hand? Nobody has posted it yet. (I haven't checked the photobucket links etc.)

I've got something amazing in mind for later this year. It'll put the midwest and Chicago on the map for good.

Concerning sidearms - Even after the discussion I was thinking about it. With my hand fuched, I wasn't able to use my magstrike. I enjoy having something as a backup in case I get rushed. While not a sidearm per se, to me the Shock and Awe of having sprayed that many darts quickly usually gets the kill or gives me time get the reload in to get the kill. Without it I was getting rushed more often. I caught Ryan reloading and he had to ninja sprint away. I chased him down but my NF was empty (he didn't realize it). Becuase he had nothing to shoot back with he had to keep running. Due to my hand injury, I was not able to get my legs to match his speed. Everyone plays their own way and to each his own, but I'm always going to have my NF at my side. It gives me piece of mind, and that's what matters.

Finally, does anyone remember the poll we were suggesting concerning I9. I think we should post it and let the forums decide once and for all. For a brief moment I thought we had a hot chick Nerfing with us...

I can understand their usefulness if you are using a single-shot primary. You need that extra short-ranged shot to dissuade rushing. Turrets, RSCB clips, or just running away negate that need. All of my primaries are capable of firing several shots in a row, and so a sidearm is superfluous. I can, however, see the usefulness of carrying an automatic, as it provides you with impressive short-ranged firepower.

The pictures of Ice9 made him look too masculine, so we won't be playing the poll game.

I... I don't know how to feel about this.

Time to lend myself to the sidearm debate. I remembered from the SoCal wars that I attended that I never really used a sidearm; I don't think I even had a springer pistol, as I borrowed someone's G1NF for the pistols round at 'Geddon. Chano I was no different, I knew I had no need for my NF when it wasn't pistols round. This time it was even better, since the RSCB on my +bow provided a much higher rate of fire than the Uruk-Hai Crossbow normally does. I know for a fact that there was at least one instance where something fucked up on my RSCB (I failed to glue a piece and it was giving me trouble) and instead of dicking around for a sidearm, I straight-up ran. I might not have gotten the hit, but it's at least as effective to keep you alive. I also know there was at least one instance of Zorn running out of shots on his BBB, pulling out his NF to shoot me, and realizing that it wasn't primed. He said himself that he could count the instances where he needed it on one hand. I would prefer to just have a primary I knew I could hit with, rather than a primary I felt needed backing up. And if you get the better of me while I'm fucking with my RSCB? Congrats, sir, that was well done. Like when Beaver got me with the fucking SSPB.
