#225456 Community-wide Mod Contest
Posted by PointBlank on 24 April 2009 - 11:45 AM in News
Then just wait until closer to the deadline to submit it.Are we allowed to update our entries after posted? Mine is functional but I am not happy with trigger function.... Then again, I might never change it. I was not sure If I should paint it until I have a smoother trigger for fear of damaging finish while disassembling it.
Don
Just to clarify, are we aloud to update our entries after posting the link in the submission thread or not? You never quite answered the question.
Thanks for the help

This is sweet. Very clean, looks very functional. Im definatly doing this when my 3k gets here. But why didnt you conect the tank pin/trigger to the stock NF trigger? Mabye I should do that, unless you've tried that... and it dosn't work...
It does, work, but it requires allot of extra work. I am ironing out all the kinks and soon I will post the better trigger mech.

You said 3k intigration. That looks like a 2k tank. My 3k tanks are black and no where NEAR that clean. I have to cut parts off for a tank.
Well, it is infact an at3k tank. I guess I just did a realy good job removing all the extra crap.
If you don't believe me I can always rip it out and take a close up...it would be inconvenient however

Very nice mod! It looks like the nitefinder came like that originally. The barrel in the write up is just a cpvc coupler, correct?
Correct.

Why didn't you just run the tubing from the tank below the trigger and place the pump in the handle? This way you can have the nf and the at3k.
As Alkorion said, It has already been done. Besides, the whole point of this mod was to make it look as much as the NF as possible, or at least look like a stock gun.

I added new pictures with the better trigger mechanism.
What do you think?
#225063 The Cyclops
Posted by PointBlank on 22 April 2009 - 05:21 PM in Modifications
That looks extremely nice and clean. The only thing I have a problem with are those ranges. If a singled 3k struggles to hit that at 5 normal pumps then there's no way in hell it can hit that at 3 smaller pumps.
Who says I was using "smaller" pumps? If you look at an at3k, it is actually not even using its whole pump, also I have done nothing to make the pump smaller in any way. So in fact, my 3 full pumps, are actually equal if not more than 5 pumps of an at3k. Does this make sense? I can explain it better if you would like.

That's sweet... If it was mine, I'd put a light spring in the pump to pull the cocking/pump handle back in to place every time. I don't know why, I just think that'd be a convenient addition.
Interesting thing to consider, it would be nice to make the pump motion easier.

At first glance, you may think that it is a regular night finder... But when we take a closer look, you begin to realize that it is so much more than that. My goal for this project was to successfully put an at3k into a NF shell, while still maintaining as much of the NF looks and feel as possible, because hey, who doesnt love holding a NF? I believe that I have succeeded. *evil laugh*
For this writeup, I am assuming that you know how to remove the tank from an AT3k.
After that, you simply put the gun back together and run the tubing from the pump.
And that’s pretty much all that needs to be explained.
Here's some more pictures.
*RANGES*
With 3 pumps I get around 100’ with ¼” fishing weight steffans and a 6” barrel. (those are incredibly good ranges for a NF)
With the same barrel, I can easily reach 90' with 2 pumps. (these ranges may seem impossible, but just remember how far a singled at3k can shoot)
*TO DO* (new pictures will be added as I complete these)
1.
2.
3.
I would be willing to do a more full and detailed write up upon request.
Wish me luck in the mod contest!

Yes I did.Oh before I forget, did you plug the AT3K tank?
Also how is aiming since in my mind I would still try and aim down what used to be the old barrel? Just seems like it would mess with accuracy to me.
The accuracy on this thing is brilliant. The barrel is perfectly aligned with the rail on the top of the gun.
Just one thing. How did you get the tube for the pump and tank through the hole in the shell?
I enlarged the hole with a knife.

#106009 Bbb Mod Write Up
Posted by PointBlank on 16 May 2007 - 08:55 PM in Modifications
This is a good mod, but may i suggest something a little thinner than a rubber band to go at the bottom of the barrel to not block air flow.
It wont make that much of a diference.
#106001 Bbb Mod Write Up
Posted by PointBlank on 16 May 2007 - 08:48 PM in Modifications
Tools needed
1-bbb
2-some tape(electric, duct, hockey, thees will al work)
3-9"' 1/2" pvc
4-1' 9/16" brass tube
5-screw driver(phillips head)
6-a ruber band
Here it is. The Big Bad Bow.
Well, first off open up the gun. Then take out the air restrictors shown below.
Put a layer of tape around the stock barrel as shown. This is optional, but will help with barrel stability.
Now put the stock barrel back into the gun.
You are done with the inside so screw it all together.
Then take out youre 1' length of brass.
Then take out a 1" portion of the rubber band. Tape it on to one end of the brass as shown (the end of the gun that will go inside the stock barrel). This will keep the darts from falling into the plunger chamber.
Wrap youre tape around the brass as shown. Just one or two layers, enough to fit in the stock barrel.
Slide the brass 3" into the stock barrel. It should be a snug fit.
Next you want to get out your 9" length of pvc.
Now slide the pvc over the brass and have it touching the stock barrel.
Tape the pvc to the stock barrel.
Congrats! You are finaly done.
Here are the ranges:
1-66' 7"
2-68' 3"
3-72' 7"
4-73' 7"
5-98' 1"
I don't know why the last one went so far, the wind probably carried it.
If you have any questions I will try my best to answer them.
P.S. Please don't nag about how stupid I am, but if you have any constructive criticism thats fine.
