#230588 Longshot Cf Boltsled Reinforcement

Posted by chefdave on 16 May 2009 - 01:21 PM in Modifications

Very nice. I did the same thing except I used two layers of fiberglass. Does carbon fiber have similar strength to fiberglass?

I'm 99% sure carbon fiber is stronger than fiberglass.

#230577 Longshot Cf Boltsled Reinforcement

Posted by chefdave on 16 May 2009 - 12:31 PM in Modifications

Simple, Easy to do ultra-strong reinforcement of the LS boltsled:

Materials/tools:

Woven carbon fiber(can be found at most hobby stores)
Epoxy
Wax paper
Scissors
Exactoknife

Posted Image

Take your carbon fiber, cut it into 2, 1.5in squares.

Coat the inside of the bolt with a layer of epoxy.

Apply the carbon fiber square.

Apply another layer of epoxy on top on the carbon fiber.

Press on a layer of wax paper, squeeze out all the excess epoxy.
Posted Image

Repeat for the other side.

After The epoxy is completely dry remove the wax paper and cut away the excess carbon fiber.

There you have it, quick and easy. Sorry for the lack of more pictures, they seem to have been lost some where in cyberspace.

Questions, comments, flames?

#230549 Secret Shot Ii, With Tank Mod.

Posted by chefdave on 16 May 2009 - 10:39 AM in Modifications

Intersting, I don't think you are thinking quite clearly though. Range is a balance between PSI and volume of air. Increasing the PSI while decreasing the volume is generally not a good Idea, due to the fact there is a Limit on the ammount of PSI the tanks can take somewhere around 70. Volume however you can always increase, Hell you could hook up an external tank to an AT2k and unload the whole tank in one shot.

Posted by chefdave on 29 March 2009 - 04:33 PM in Modifications

If you want to defend yourself while reloading, just attach a shotgunned bigblast to the bottom... No one will get close to you

Have fun carrying that around.

Not the whole shell, just the pressure chamber.

#220222 Your Worst Nerf Related Injury

Posted by chefdave on 28 March 2009 - 12:15 AM in General Nerf

Speaking of BBBB related injurys, I got shot from 15ft away with a singled BBBB at 30 pumps.

Modding would had to be when I left the glue gun on for half an hour. I then proceeded to glue something, it was so hot, it dripped off the gun and landed on my barefoot. I ended up having to run upstairs and shove my foot into the shower. Another 5 minutes later I had to pull off about 1 Square inch of glue bound with my skin.

#217706 Longshot Breakthough (takes Stress Of The Boltsled) (writeup's Up)

Posted by chefdave on 12 March 2009 - 07:05 PM in Modifications

Interesting, but doesn't that ruin the rate of fire? Instead of 1 second to prime it takes 3. Also, heriticorp(hope I spelled that right) made a longshot that doesnt even use the bolt-sled and still has the same rate of fire as a normal ls.

I think this thread is a really good idea. Once enough pictures are updated you should make some kind of index on the front page

#212739 I Present To You The Hefty Clip

Posted by chefdave on 16 February 2009 - 12:36 PM in Modifications

Good to be doing another write-up, haven't done one in quite a while.

So lets get started!

This will allow you to use stefens in your longshot.

Tools and materials:
-exacto nife
-epoxy putty
-rectrangular wood dowel
-possibly a dremel

First you need to open it up, pry open the tabs with an exacto knife or cut them off with a dremel.

After you have opened it, measure and cut your wood, glue it on at the appropriate positon according to the length of your stefens. Make sure you measure and glue it on straight,

This is where I origanly stopped, it broke after 1 use

Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy.
Posted Image

Hefty, hefty hefty:

Reinforce the wood with a large ammount of epoxy putty, make sure there is a small gap in between the two pieces of wood when the clip is reassembled.

Posted Image

Now, take the slider piece and cut it so there is about a 1/32th of an inch gap between it and the wood.( If you do not do this properly you will not be able to fire the last shot in your clip!)

Posted Image

Grab the spring and glue it in so that the spring is flush with the open edge of the slider.

(sorry couldn't get the camera to focus properly)
Posted Image

Reassemble it and your'e done!

This clip is much more durable and, in my opinon, easier to mod!

#211952 Everything You Should Never Do

Posted by chefdave on 13 February 2009 - 10:29 AM in General Nerf

what's worse is if you listen close they mention that they had to put something metal into it so it would fire

No, if you actually listened he said he put metal in the jaket, not the gun.

#206452 Schoolwide Nerf Tournament

Alot of schools freak out at the word "gun". They don't want to be held liable(lawers theses days...)if the kid turns into some psychopath.

#206107 Sf Help

Posted by chefdave on 24 January 2009 - 11:30 PM in General Nerf

I never got around to trying this but I thought this might fix it: you could completely seal off the right barrel and then pressurize the chamber, it might reseal the chamber.
Or I thought you could attach the barrel, apply negative pressure (I won't say how do to risk of being added that hilarious quote to my signature, while playing with my butthole) to the barrel and pump it hoping to seal the chamber.

Good luck :D

#201529 Airgun Problems

Posted by chefdave on 06 January 2009 - 08:51 PM in Modifications

After not using airguns for a couple months, most of them have developed leaks. First my Air tech 2000 leaks out of the base of the pin at the end of the tank. My Big Salvo leaks slowly out of the barrels of 3 of the four blast chambers. My Titan cannot hold enough air to shoot a dart 30 feet, but I cannot locate the leak(s). Lastly my converted water gun leaks out of all the parts except the barrel and pump. There may be a few I am forgetting. Can someone help? Thanks (in advance).

The airtech is probably shot, but the other ones should be able to be fixed by spraying with silicon spray and superglue.

*edit* Hey look my 200th post =) *edit*

#200985 Projectus

Posted by chefdave on 04 January 2009 - 12:49 AM in Modifications

Very innovative, finding an actual use for a ff turret besides smashing it and a fairly clean pump replacement. You probably should put that in some kind of shell though. My sm1500 tank exploded outside of its shell  and nearly did serious damage to my face.

#198288 Painting Prep

Wait, you can remove paint with hot glue?

Oh that is so added that hilarious quote to my signature, while playing with my butthole!

On topic Generaly you don't have to remove the stock paint because it is not paint at all, it's the color of the plastic.

#195884 Making A Magstrike Pistol

What is that a picture of?

Once it either works, or conclusively does not work, then I will spill the entire story, including plenty of pictures.

Until then, I would prefer that most people ponder the possibility of whether I might actually be that good with photoshop.

Looks like you put a flashflood supersoaker into a sonic bazooka shell. :)

Trailer, looks like a modern day version of DBZ, I don't know how it is going to be anything better than a bad kung-fu movie though.

#189258 Leaking At2k

Posted by chefdave on 12 November 2008 - 10:55 AM in Modifications

The trigger could be pulling a little on the firing pin causing it to leak out when you pump it. That might be why when you pump it slow it leaks, but if you pump it fast enough the pressure builds up so the slight pull of the trigger will not open the valve. Try pumping it while its not in it's shell if you have not done that already.

#184872 My Doomsayer

Posted by chefdave on 22 October 2008 - 12:29 AM in Modifications

Very nice, mine is currently singled, I may have to buy a second one and merge the two. It's so powerfull that the darts give people welts from <10 ft away with taggers! Unfortunately it is also extremely inaccurate due to the lack of heavier darts.
