#360463 Caliburn: Mag-fed Pump-action Springer

Posted by Silly on 09 June 2017 - 12:47 PM in Homemades

Glad to see that your goal of machined, printed, and cast options being possible has been completed. Is this it for the project, or should we expect to see even more progress?

Also, quick question, how long is the prime on this beast? I want to compare it to my current project.

#360369 Nerf Thrifting Tips

Posted by Silly on 05 June 2017 - 08:33 AM in General Nerf

I use ebay and look up nerf lots and sort for cheapest first. Usually they are selling several 7 to 90 dollar items for around 30 to 90+ dollars. Ive gotten 2 stampedes and a rapidstrike for only 50 bucks from one lot.

#360281 Got anything longer? (Springs)

Posted by Silly on 02 June 2017 - 12:44 PM in Modifications

I think i will go with the k44. I need about 3 full feet of draw for this monster, so that one should be good.

#360255 Modification level classifications

Other way around bud. Also, no one will follow this classification.

#360207 Broken Rough cut

Posted by Silly on 30 May 2017 - 11:33 AM in General Nerf

Don't waste a good shell! That is basically the only good part of the rough cut, other then the smart AR.

Did you remove the locks that prevent fast priming?

#360147 Pull Style Converter For Blast Buttons.

Posted by Silly on 27 May 2017 - 06:16 AM in Modifications

Bubba: it's hard to show 3d in Ms paint :) yes there would be a guide box around the wedge.

Jwasko: space is a major factor in the project I'm working on, so a lever wouldn't work. (Trying to make the xbz be fired on a keyring Infront of the main trigger)

#360119 Pull Style Converter For Blast Buttons.

Posted by Silly on 26 May 2017 - 08:29 AM in Modifications

So, i have been thinking about this for a bit now: can we make a way for the xbz to be fired on a pulling motion, not a push of the button. I came up with this, but havent made it yet.

IMG_3991.PNG

Blue = xbz
Black = blast button
Orange = body of mechanism
Green = tension spring (V.Small)

There is a sliding wedge with a return spring on one end. You would pull on the non spring side with a piece of wire attached to a trigger, which would slide the wedge over the blast button, firing the xbz. One problem: i dont have materials to test this, so it would be greatly appreciated if someone could do a prototype of this for me. I just need some quick input as to if the design works as it should in reality. Thanks!

Edit: please forgive my magnificent MS paint skills.

#360106 Caliburn: Mag-fed Pump-action Springer

Posted by Silly on 25 May 2017 - 03:09 PM in Homemades

Do you plan to make any specially colored caliburns? Also, how do you think people will/should customize their caliburns?

#360101 Retaliator spring in Jolt? yes!

Posted by Silly on 25 May 2017 - 09:23 AM in Modifications

You twist it on with pliers and a bench vice.

#360100 2017 Modification/Homemade Contest

I plan to post at least 3, maybe up to 7 entries of high quality.

#360093 Got anything longer? (Springs)

Posted by Silly on 24 May 2017 - 06:01 PM in Modifications

That is at full length of each spring, right? (Not cut down)

#360091 Got anything longer? (Springs)

Posted by Silly on 24 May 2017 - 03:17 PM in Modifications

Sounds good! Im making the FOAP (The "Father Of All Pistols") for the mod contest, and i needed somthing long to be used in the massive plunger tube ive made.

#360089 Got anything longer? (Springs)

Posted by Silly on 24 May 2017 - 02:29 PM in Modifications

So for one of my entries in the 2017 mod contest i need a spring longer and not too much wider or skinnier then a [k26], with just as much power behind it. I dont think i would be able to spring-merge two pieces of [k26] together, as i dont have acess to high strength adhesives or welding.

So, anyone know of any long [k26]-like springs available?

#360086 2017 Modification/Homemade Contest

Can we upload as many entries in each category as we want, or is there a limit?

What is that stock made out of? I see a recon butt plate, but thats all I recognize.

#360052 star wars kyn erso blaster imr upgrade?

Re wire to run on separate battery trays. One for flywheels, one for effects.

#360048 Recon CS-6 $ Value ?

Posted by Silly on 22 May 2017 - 12:24 PM in General Nerf

eBay would be best in my opinion.

Are shotgunned titans allowed, like if they shoot many darts at once? If it is allowed, what is the minimum amount of darts it must shoot at once.

#360003 Hammershot vs Strongarm/Maverick

Posted by Silly on 18 May 2017 - 07:13 AM in General Nerf

Who needs a secondary when you have a full poweclip DX in a holster. If you have a sensitive enough trigger finger, you can do 3-4 round bursts, and if you wanted to, you can mape it rain darts in a pinch.

#359980 Magnetic Catch Idea

Posted by Silly on 17 May 2017 - 01:55 PM in Homemades

But same problems as in that other thread. Not enough force without dangerously high electrical currents and potentially electronic damaging magnetic fields.

#359925 High Cap Magazine Collective Brain-Spew

Posted by Silly on 15 May 2017 - 01:24 PM in Homemades

Must be a pain to load though right? I think the flexy pipe can be a option, but we should try to stick to more conventional clips and similar. Good job though!

#359922 Weird ammo I need to launch.

Posted by Silly on 15 May 2017 - 12:31 PM in Darts and Barrels

1: why

2: you could make a floating piston inside a piece of pipe with 2 or 3 slots cut in the end for the planes wings to poke through, then the piston pushes the plane when filled with air from firing.

#359913 2s LiPo for Honey Badger motors?

Posted by Silly on 15 May 2017 - 10:14 AM in Modifications

The more important question you should ask yourself before your purchase a lipo is "Am I ready to take care of and use this battery properly?"

Edit:Grammar

#359909 Armageddon XVIII: SoCal's Largest NIC War (6/24/17) NOW RECAPPING

Posted by Silly on 15 May 2017 - 07:54 AM in Nerf Wars

Looking at my travel shit for summer break, i may actually be able to convince mah family to let me go, but we will see.

Edit: Is there restrictions on xbz or do those fall under the 4B/UMB/Similar section.

#359882 What air tank to use for a shotgun?

Posted by Silly on 13 May 2017 - 05:40 AM in Modifications

Or the good ol Titan. You can make that shoot around 10+ at once.

#359875 High Cap Magazine Collective Brain-Spew

Posted by Silly on 12 May 2017 - 08:15 PM in Homemades

Oh, also: How it's Made (the show, watch on YouTube) has some fascinating machinery and production lines that probably have parts that would apply to this project. One I saw was a conveyer that moved cans and appeared to consist of simply 6 metal rods - one for each end and two for each of the sides. That'd be easier to build into whatever shape needed and probably lower friction than machining solid materials to shape.

Small problem: those use electric motors, chains, sh!t loads of power (over time), and are heavier then...well...something really heavy.

Posted by Silly on 12 May 2017 - 12:51 PM in Homemades

Houses are good. I think i may be able to use the springs from a broken 18 mag and a broken 12 mag i have, so this idea may be tested soon after all!

#359860 High Cap Magazine Collective Brain-Spew

Posted by Silly on 12 May 2017 - 12:11 PM in Homemades

If i had spare mags, i would definitely try to make one, but i have only a few ones right now that i cant afford to slaughter in the name of progress.

#359854 High Cap Magazine Collective Brain-Spew

Posted by Silly on 12 May 2017 - 10:00 AM in Homemades

What about a mag shaped like a U, with a drum style pusher mech so it can go around the curve?

You could take flat plastic sheets, make the 2 stick pieces of the U, then bend some more sheet or 3d print a addapter for the curve.

Or you could take 2 18 mags and chop off the bottom of one, slap on a printed adapter for the curve, then chop off the top of the other mag and put that side into the other end of the curve adapter.

#359853 Magnetic blaster

Posted by Silly on 12 May 2017 - 09:47 AM in Homemades

Overall: This idea was doomed to fail from the start, it is worse then all current designs, and it would be very VERY dangerous. It was just a bad idea that no one asked for. And even if it is made, it will underperform without a doubt.

#359808 Gutenberged Crossbow: The Morrigan

Posted by Silly on 10 May 2017 - 12:25 PM in Modifications

Do you know yet if parts like the spring rest and priming rod are going to last? What will you do if the parts break, will you have to fix them, or can you still print new ones without that lab?

#359807 Is This A Home.M Or A Mod?

Posted by Silly on 10 May 2017 - 12:11 PM in Modifications

The strongarm isnt what im doing, its just an example. Trust me, the thing that im doing, if it works, is gonna be like nothing like youve ever seen.

#359797 Is This A Home.M Or A Mod?

Posted by Silly on 10 May 2017 - 09:47 AM in Modifications

So I have a really quick question. Does it still qualify as a mod if only the handle and airtank are used, but, say, theres a long arm sticking out of the blaster?

Ex: Say theres a strongarm with a piece of pvc sticking out the front with an airtank slapped on the front of the pipe, with all the orginal strongarm internals removed completely?

(Planning for the mod contest(hey where is the offical upload post for that?))

Edit: Grammar.

#359773 Screw Ports - How to reconnect?

Posted by Silly on 09 May 2017 - 08:58 AM in Modifications

And make sure the break lines are aligned perfectly. But if the port is split in two, like a hotdog in a microwave, then you cant really do anything. (By this I mean if the port itself split in half)

#359758 Screw Ports - How to reconnect?

Posted by Silly on 08 May 2017 - 05:05 PM in Modifications

Superglue is what I use for non heavily needed posts, but epoxy putty cocooned around the post is stronger.

#359736 Caliburn: Mag-fed Pump-action Springer

Posted by Silly on 07 May 2017 - 02:38 PM in Homemades

So 2 questions:
1:How many molds can you spin at a time?
2:What machine is used to spin the mold? Something similar to a lathe or a drill press?

I've never printed before, what kind of filament do you recommend?

#359448 How to clean up shell cutting?

Posted by Silly on 25 April 2017 - 12:56 PM in Modifications

Acetone vapor polishing is for turning a rough surface into a glossier smoother finish. You won't be able to apply that technique selectively so it would smooth out your entire blaster.

Sorry, i just meant the rough edge of the cut, like if your doing, say, a guru, and you want to clean up the crossbow cut you had to do.
