#239366 Modification and Paintjob Pictures

I realized that I needed a sturdy, reliable, and strong sidearm. I felt like I was making my mods more complicated than they needed to be. So i put it in another NF shell:
~50ft ranges flat. Perfect.
And something else i'm working on:
My first attempt at a LS mod of this magnitude.

Clockwise: CPVC'd NF, PETG'd Pump-Plugged AT3K, PETG'd Super Mav 2K, Inline Clip'd PETG'd PAS, Spring-addition Seal-Improved Spring-compressive Stefan Clip-Accepting Recon, and PETG'd Inline-Clipped T.I.M, my absolutely incredible homemade. I have many more guns but they're all in a scrap heap for now.

I added FBR to reduce the sound. Does an amazing job if i do say so myself.
Also, since the front of the gun carries the majority of the weight, I glued some copper BBs inside the stock to make it heavier. The same to the cocking handle.
This bad boy is equipped with the stock spring, LS spring, and a 1st gen BBB spring.
- The trigger spring(s) were made from the front (orange) attachment's AR spring.
- I added hot glue to further compress the springs on the plunger rod.
- Has a section of nail put inside the brown piece to prevent the stefan from being vacuum-loaded too far and into the plunger.
- PVC coupler epoxied on.
- Uses CPVC as barrel material for now. Getting PETG soon.
- Range: ~95 ft.

The Coupler is now in there permanently, and has an air-tight seal on the plunger so its now vacuum-loaded.
The thin-walled PVC on the CPVC is just for looks.
Had the original rod snap in half where i thought was the strongest point on it, but its now held together with pieces of coat hanger like so on both sides.
And the stock has a new piece added to it for stability.
Don't have a picture of the internals, but it now has:
1 NF spring
1 Firefly spring
2 Mav springs
1 LSFG spring
and a cut length of a thinly-wound industrial spring with about the power of a NF spring.
And everythings been reinforced, so it pray it won't break anywhere anytime soon. Ranges now more likely to be in the 90'-100' range, but cold and windy weather prevents me from doing any official range tests.

The result of a stock Recon as a birthday gift.
Had an original Recon's plunger "cover" that i put on the newer model. Put a Mav + Random similarly-sized spring in the back to help force the plunger forward when firing. Other things:
- E-Tape wrapped around plunger tube for spring compression
- E-tape underneath the O-Ring for better seal
- Trimmed the piece on the bolt sled that engaged the mechanism for the dart tooth to go down slower, thus pushing the dart further down the barrel
- Can use stefan-modded clips
Ranges are ~45, a decent secondary. And with 8 clips theres no telling what can't be done with this.
EDIT: I tried out a PETG barrel to replace the original, but due to the looser fit it got worse ranges.
#286846 Homemades Picture Thread
Posted by Norther of Heaven on 11 October 2010 - 09:53 PM in Homemades
I got around to making more homemades. And I guess i seem to be following a trend of bows 'n such. le sigh.
Used some of that very small but very tough flex pvc for the plunger rod because the priming (tube?) kept bending the vinyl tubing i had there instead. Put some of the vinyl inside and boom, no worries about it bending and not priming.
This piece is called a wye/tee combination. Its a great handle. I hate seeing snaps and other such homemades with wooden handles amongst all the PVC. It looks unnatural to me.
When primed the plunger rod is visible from the stock tee.
And while I was at it..
The bow "head" i made interchangeable, so i decided to experiment a little on this design. I call it the Y-Bow.
I didn't quite get the arms exactly the way I wanted them, so i just bolted dem bitches down so they wouldn't come flying off by accident when primed.
Have to leave the thread kinda loose, its a tough prime when its more than just taut.
The arms curve beautifully.
Still needs some tweaking, but I think this design has potential. Maybe mechanically, maybe just cosmetically.

But i have a question.. forgive me if i missed something. If the Titan is equipped, how exactly does the main gun fire? It looked like the caulk plunger tube wasn't even there.
But anyways, GREAT JOB. Can't wait to see the paintjob.

Cease. CEASE.You never sees to impress me.
This is too much.. but in a good way. Good job!
Is the foregrip hard to prime? I've always seen it attached where the original primer was, not directly to the bolt sled like that.

S'fine, i didn't see it but thats alright.I understand that your gun in the rail accessory makes sense to be here, but this is really for home-brew items which make our guns and/or setups more efficient, rather than a temporary integration, which is what I see yours as. It's in the modification directory, I believe, and that's where it ultimately belongs.

The tactical shot in my sig would be a nice addition.
Theres also a few LS scope + AT2K guns, but i think im the first to put a disc shot / nite finder into a rail accessory.

Don't necro old threads, it clogs our tubes and makes things messy, blah blah blah.Awesome, You should've intergreted a Ball launcher for a Grenade Launcher. The LS is so much like an M16, you should call it the SOPMOD M4

The rod is built to last, 2 ton epoxy and plexiglass stabilization, not going anywhere.Holy shit, what a beast.
Do you ever have any problems with the massive draw length? I worry about the plunger rod snapping or something since it's so long and exposed before firing.
And to be honest, the massive draw length gets me pumped up.
And it should frighten anyone who sees me prime it.

NOTE: I'm working on a stock right now that should be done by tomorrow. It has to do with the bottom of the NF's handle and a tactical rail.

Thanks alot, this means alot.Wow.
I feel inspired.
If I hadn't already let myself create a long list of unfinished projects, I think I'd start bashing on something like that, too.
Same here. Mods like this make me want to get my shit together and finish my mods, so I can try this.
Awesome mod.
I really just pulled this together, like most of my other mods.

It uses a tactical rail as you could guess.
I first took a 1/2" PVC coupler and 2-ton epoxied it to the handle of the NF, to one side so i could still open up the gun.
Once dried i put on goop for some unknown reason.
Then taking:
1x tactical rail connector
1x 1/2" PVC coupler
2x 1/2" PVC right angle'd connectors
1/2" PVC pipe (both regular and thin walled)
1/2" PVC pipe insulation wrap
..I put together a stock that would be comfortable. Put the coupler on the rail connector and epoxy and goop and whatever else adhesive you want it so that it will NOT move. Fit the pipe into the coupler and make sure it's meant to stay in there.
Then.you can guess how to put the rest together. Just make sure that the length of the pipe on top is far enough so that the rail connector will lock in place securely when its pushed forward, while the lower pipe (thin walled) will slide into the coupler on the handle.
I put the insulation wrap on the stock for comfort, but it for some reason didn't reach all the way around so i filled the rest of the empty space with backer rod. VERY COMFORTABLE in case your wondering.
Finished Stock:
How it's attached:
Off:
*Slide on the rail and put the pipe into the coupler snugly*
In place:
Works great, and is removable. I'm happy.

I put in the tube in the NF shell to get a feel of how i'd mold the DS shell to fit it.
Removed all internal parts of the DS and hacksawed off the back just enough to get the main back wall off. Then sanded all the internal parts that hold the catch plate & anywhere around it.
Did it enough to where it slid onto the tube at least.
I made cuts with the hacksaw up the back of the DS until it let the tube slide forward just enough so it could rest where the DS's plunger tube would've been.
Once the two shells fit together well enough, i put a long thin strip of plexiglass where the two tactical rails meet to keep the two together and epoxied. I also put a piece (look at picture for the shape) where the back of the DS handle is so it connects to the NF shell. Also epoxied.
This next part was tricky. Getting the plunger tube's "caps" to fit a 1/2" CPVC coupler. Had to do alot of sanding and filing, but eventually got it to fit snugly without breaking.
I put it on the end of the tube and epoxied the hell out of it so it was sure not to get pushed into the tube.
The finished Internals:
Then to add another tactical rail onto the gun, i took a spare Mavrick cocking handle and cut the rail off so it'd be flush with the trigger guard of the DS. I hot glued it onto the space where the ammo holders would've been.
And you are finished!
The reason why i call it the ACCESS Bow is because of all the rail accessories that can be put on it. It works great with the tactical shot i made because i can put it on the front of the top rail on the DS and cock it while its still attached. Like so:
And the bottom rail is perfect for a tactial light.
Various shots:
Incase your wondering, the handle of the DS is extremely comfortable when holding.
Ranges are from 85'-95'. I'm very satisfied.
