I also doubt there is much they can do against you if you don't have a permit. They are not firearms, so they don't fall subject to any laws affecting such. It is a public park, so there is no premit to asseble a large group or whatever, and there are no laws governing recreational activities. I think we are ok. Fags.

The cops came by the first apoc if I'm not mistaken, and they seemed pretty cool about it. I agree with Vacc and Ash, it most likely won't be a problem.

We're fully aware that the police are not a problem, but last Apoc one of the officers who showed up early said that 25+ people needed a permit. So we tried to do the right thing, and get that permit, and we were essentially pistol whipped with our own attempt.

Nerf guns, I'm serious, qualify as "projectiles and weapons". Or so Shindig was told by some snippy county worker. The way it works now, is we let Shindig's letter do what we hope it will... get us a "yes". And if not, Shindig and I are going to personally try to get permission face to face.

I don't think we've gotten a "No" yet, so even if they wind up stalling and taking too much time, we could very well have the war I think. Even if we have too many people, we still inquired about one, and were never given a real answer. We sent a letter, they took their time, we had a set schedule and have spent the last few months planning this.

I believe our argument is a potent one, I'm certain Apoc:2003 will happen.

Honestly, even if they give you a no, it can happen. Unless this is a really really small town, and this park has loads of people in it on a hot muggy new jersey summer day, I don't even see them bothering with it. If they do, come down here, there are plenty of places to nerf that the cops wouldn't have a clue about. This town is big enough and the people are stupid enough, that if the cops were advised about the war, they'd probably come to watch. But anyway, I really don't see them stopping it.

If that county worker says that a foam dart is a projectile, then so is a football, baseball, and any other PROJECTED sporting equipment. Good lord if they wanted to shoot of model rockets, it be in the paper. We want to shoot darts, and they give us a no. Gotta love tha Government!!!!

Actually, you do technically need a permit for model rockets above a certain engine rating.

The thing to do next time would be to say you're having a Picnick or some other recreational event. Don't relate it to nerfing at all. Get a permit for having people there. No athouritys will show up to check on you, and if they do, it won't be a problem because you have a permit. The police have already established that they're cool with your nerfing, and this way no county officials or parks and rec. people need know about it.

The problem with having told them the nature of the event is that now they problaby will send someone too check on you, and they may not be as freindly now that you've specifically been told you can't hold the event.

Yeah, we considered a few courses of permitially action.
1. Each clan gets its own permit. Then when the cops show up, theres just a few random groups of nerfers that say they arent associated with one another. This plan is gay though.
2. Jewish picnic. Much like Langley said.

Alright!! I'm psyched. I've never been to an actual nerf war before, I'm glad you guys got the permit. I've got the cups, I hope 200 will due, because any more than that and I was going to have to pay. I've also got some flagging tape as a backup if someone forgets. So I'll see you guys in only a little more than a week. I still say I'm going to be trampled upon especially since my gun is homemade. I'll keep my weltable areas fresh for ya evil, see you at apoc.

Goddamit...I can't go...Do you know why? Because school starts the next day. That's right, here, we have school that soon. So while you guys are out losing stefans, I'm sitting here making sure I have everything and that my alarm is set...damn...maybe next go round.

Ragornocks - That sucks dude. But if you think about it, we're stuck in school until June 20th (or about that), and you most likely get out way before that.

Talio - Sweet! I'm glad you're coming. The cups......erm.......we'll see what we're going to do about them, but I guess we're going to have to make due with what we have. Thanks for your willingness to help.

Everybody Else - I got the approval call from the County Parks Department Re: the letter I sent them. We are allowed use of the park, but for any event over the limit of 25 we need at least a month to set everything up with them. Since they just learned about us and we just learned about the process, they let us go this time. We are not allowed more than 35 people (or that's what the permit says). The important thing is since there is no insurance on us, you cannot sue the county in the unlikely event that you get hurt. So in that incredibly unlikely event, I hope you have insurance.

Somebody make sure that you bring a regular Nerf gun for Talio, just in case.

There are bathrooms at the park, for those of you that were not aware. Lunch break will be whenever the group feels like it. Usually it's some where between 2-3. Some people will have cars there, so if you would like to catch a ride, you'll need to find it yourself. If you want to bring a lunch, that's fine too.

I'm expecting things to go similar to Reckoning and last year's Apoc. So Famine, I'm hoping you're willing to make teams because you just have those special skills to get everyone moving.
