Well, this year's Apoc was rather new. I slice my fingers wide open and we all get free stuff from Nerf. everyone got something, including a gun from the new line. We all drew out of a hat and I got this:

The Hornet. Rather cool if I do say so myself. The Nerf people also demonstrated the whole line when put together and it was very cool.

And here's a pic of my fixed up hand.

Air output? Ranges? Can you take another picture with another gun to compare size? If it isnt too much to ask, internal pictures? If this is a better blastfire...I'm going to have alot of fun with these, those getting 4 different Hornet mods may be a bit more expensive ^_^

Dude, chill. He just got back from a nerf war at which he sliced his hand open. He immediately signed on and posted pics. Give some time for a full review. Oh, and I got one too, so you'll eventually be seeing whatever I do to it.

Here's the deal

NJ Nerf kicks the shit out of everyone else. I mean who else has had reps from Hasbro at their wars?

Also I HATE BRASSED WEAPONS. They are killing the fun of Nerf.

Now on for the other good stuff:

I had many good kills today, and many had them on me.
It's good to see everyone again.
Nice to meet the philly guys, even if your weapons over power most of ours.
I can't remember much at the moment, so I guess I'll do a follow up later.

Ok I understand that you haven't had your Dew, but SCH80 pvc performs quite well, at least it almost equals brass in my guns for some reason... So I don't see why brass is that big of a problem- unless you're using sch40 pvc and stock micros. And there's always PETG you can buy from IR, so I still don't see the reason to hate brass so much, as there are alot of other options that perform at least nearly as well.

Rags nailed it on the head. It's no fun when most of our weapons are PVC modded for megas and zeros and 4 guys show up with multi barrel brassed weapons that are reaching ranges they just shouldnt reach. It's not fair that good nerfers are being taken down by weapons that have multiple shots ready to go in under a second. Any blaster like that is removing part of the game that Nerf is, at least to me.

Eh, I see your point I guess. But can you really blame the guys using brass for trying to make their blasters the best they can be? I mean, I'd be pretty pissed if some kid came to a war with me and shot at me with some unknown gun that shot 200+ feet, but I really wouldn't hold it against him too much. And I thought Zero's performed really well, At least nearly as good as some stefans. My apologies if I seem like an unknowing prick, but that's just my view.

By the way, what kind of weapons were you using that gave the brassed people such a big advantage?

It was like that at ECNO too, though I didnt mind, I like to see high-performance blasters.

The brassed weapons were 1.5k's and 2k's. High rof, high range. Most other people used lnl's, crossbows, mshots, and NF's. Im assuming it was like that at apoxc also. Thats just what people generally use. They have less range, accuracy, velocity, and rof than air guns such as the 2k and 1.5k. it takes more skill to use those spring guns that an air gun, which makes the playing field uneven.

Though the gun matters not. Nerf.

Our cpvced sm1500s get the same range as our brassed ones. Im also under the beleaf the gun doesnt make the player.

Those were the brassed weapons?! Well then I can understand it a bit better... But do you guys have any PETG or access to PETG? Because that combined with any air guns you might be able to get could even out the playing field a bit more... Or with the new N-Strike line, it looks like the hornet could use PVC barrels...

OMC, I think your argumeant should be more based on pump guns and not the brass barrels.

I agree with THIRST, go springers !

God damn thread hyjackers! ::shakes fist:: Way to ruin a topic about a perfectly good war.

I thought the war went quite well. I wish the weather was a little better so the bridge area could have been more utilized.

As for our visitors, that completely kicked ass yet again. It was good to see that Hasbro still has continued interest in the community. By the way, if they happen to be reading this, Thanks a lot guys. Your demo and freebies were much appreciated. I would highly reccommend looking for the Nerf N-Strike Unity System this fall!

Most of my problems for the day included the fact that the guns I was using were not second nature to me, so I was not as accurate as usual. Then again, the word accurate termed to me could be highly debated. The attendance could have been better, but I should have promoted the event more proactively.

It was good to see Hersh; I hadn't seen him in ages.

No real war highlights to report. I'll let allow Warlock to tell the story of his injury only if he wants to.

Hersh I'm publically apologizing for a couple of the cheap shots I took on you. I normally gauge how easy it is to take someone down and give myself a challange, but I definetly utilized my guns advantage on you once or twice, and it's not my style. I don't think any of the aggression is being direct at me though.

Howie and Mantis, yeah, controversy sucks. You two seem to really get into it with me, and most of the time it's over something goofy. No hard feelings. Next time there's an arguement about a hit, just don't take it, cause I don't keep track of yours. I can barely keep track of mine.

Andy, sorry you got cut.

Hasbro, you continue to rock my world. Thanks so much for loving us.

Paul, good job, feel proud brutha.

I had fun, I thought the shitty weather added a new fun element. I loved the rice patties we had behind the paviliion. Only problem was, nothing was evaporating. I went through 4 shirts. Had a great time at the post party dinner, and all around had a real fun time.

Talio.

Brass ruining Nerf? Shit, I'd hate to see what you'd be like if you went to a SoCal war.

OMC,

Half of what you're talking about is turreted pump guns, not brass, so go ahead and blame Hasbro for the SM series. That said, I agree that brass and micro stefans have changed nerf. Either adapt to be competitive or ban micros at your wars.

It has been 3 years since I posted my first brass mod. You'd think more people would have caught on by now.

Oh well. We might not be used to the same set of rules and such, it took some time to get everyone from our normal group to get used to the way we like things done involving arguments and that stuff.
Either way, everybody is gonna get pissy about something during the war, and when the war is over, you forget about it, so its all in good fun.

Well anyway, I'll touch on a few of things already discussed on this topic...

As much as the gun doesn't make the player, brassed multi barreled guns have taken away a great deal of strategy that is involved with nerf. It's not a matter of, "If I take this shot, will I pay for it?"... it's now become a matter of, "If I take this shot, will I be able to pump this gun six times fast enough".

I myself find the game far more intense when one shot matters, or two shots matter, but when you can drop shots from obscene distances, and not worry about the consequences, I find that it dulls the game. Quite a bit.

Woohoo! APOC! Hell yea! This goes down as one of my favorite wars I've ever attended. And maybe, my second favorite war next to the first Apoc. Last year was great but this war was just amazing. Back and forth rounds, interesting, fun, lots of badass moves. It helps that the Nerf guys showed up, because they are too cool (and I got a shirt - schwing!)

...The game was great and lasted a solid 5 or 6 hours, and I'll say that we certainly lucked out that the rain (DOWNPOURING) ended just at gametime.

Dinner at the diner rocked too, it's a shame Warlock couldn't have seen more of Apoc 2004.
