Its a long shot plunger system style for sure other wise it would have the little tube that guards the armed bar so yea the back is too small for a full sized long shot plunger tube maybe a downsize or something like that sick tho i guess it is the redshift with upgrades

I'm going to say wait and see, because I can't see any definate characteristics being a re-shelled longshot or recon. For all we know, it could be something brand new.

Is that a tactical rail under the barrel like the one on the Recon barrel extension?

It kinda reminds me of the lanard hand cannon. It looks like it might have some potential.

The yellow balls are also slightly smaller in diameter than the green ones.

Its a recon. Look at the space between the Mag and the back of the gun, then do the same for a recon and a ls. Plus, what have all the recent guns by nerf been? reshels of a mav, a nf, and a recon. I dont expect this to be different.

Don't want to shove balls in tight spaces. Trust me, bad idea.

For sale: Vintage WWII French rifles. Dropped once, never fired.

I wouldn't be so sure, if you look at the Recon in the brochure, there is no armed bar defense. You never know if Hasbro photo editted the armed bar out, but stuck it on the toys.

It could easily be a recon if the "armed bar" thing was inside the shell. There's plenty of room in that thing for it to fit.

I definitely agree it looks similar. it seems like there could be many possibilities in the extra areas of the gun. To me the front seems removable a little, but I think it's just me.

Well, here comes another 50 page long speculation thread. On topic, it doesn't appear to me that a reverse plunger could fit in there, unless it is very small. But hey how much is my two cents worth.

Yeah that barrel definitely looks removable, like the way the Longshot's front gun is attached.

And though I know Echnalaid is kidding, its just a version of the rifle style blaster in the middle.

Well, besides the storm fire, nerf hasn't used a regular style plunger in ANY blaster since 2006 with the longshot and DTB. Why are we expecting a change?

If you look at the priming bolt and the space for it to go back, it looks to be a few inches long.

Browsed around the Hasbro site, then the EA site for the new N-Strike game. Found this: http://nerf.ea.com/blasters.

Interestingly enough, the Longstrike is currently not listed as real.

I feel that, though change is unlikely, I noticed a few things for OUR better (LS Plunger style)

First note: Stock Range. I know the Recon only boasted twenty feet, somewhere in the instructions or on the box. This leads me to believe that it could be either a stronger springed Recon or a smaller plunger tubed LS.

Second Note: Size and Name. LONGSTRIKE. Unless it is a really strong spring for what it is, if reverse plunger, I really doubt Hasbro would be so low to put such a small system in such a large gun (and don't bring up the FuryFire. Slightly sized up Maverick is different than fing huge one) In addition, and sort of unneeded, it seem the width of a Vulcan from a distance. No apparent reason I can name.

Third and Last Note (for now): This ones a little more specific, and bit leaning toward the second reason, but: Bolt size/length. Notice the length of the bolt's rail guiding thing. Really long. So its leaning towards powerful, in the sense of plunger draw, reverse or standard.

Just my thought. Reverse plunger is more likely, but you never know. And we'll find out later.

The Difference:
-Guns shoot bullets that kill people
-Blasters shoot darts that tag people

Guys Stop posting, these are the Current facts we have:

-There is gun being released in the Spring of 2010
-The gun is named the LongStrike

Current Speculation:

The gun appears to be normal plungered, due to:

-No housing for the reverse plunger
-Large slot for the handle, similar to the LS
-Stated "Fires 35ft!!!" more than the recon

Yep, that's about it.

I really hope it's a normal plunger like the longshot, if Hasbro is even going to pretend it's a loser rifle it'll have to be something more powerful than a recon, but who knows, little kids won't give a crap because OH MY GOSH it looks like a loser rifle, even more so than the longshot does!

@SonReeceSonJensen, I was thinking the EXACT same thing, maybe give it a maverick handle... would be very nice looking. ;)

I don't think that it has an inverse plunger system. There would most likely be a cover sticking out of the back of the gun (over the plunger), like on the 2nd gen Recon, and the raider as well. It also as the bolt like the longshot too. But just in case I'm buying another longshot before this releases ;) .

There's a lot of room for this gun to change (think early raider prototype variations), but there's one thing that seems apparent: This gun looks freakin' comfortable.

I don't care if it has a reverse plunger, that gun looks sooo ergonomic that I'm going to use it anyway. Fuck it.

I would like to think it would be more like a LS, because so far the inverted CS guns have had their emphasis on tactical rails, accessories, and they've both had the arm that comes out the back. This gun looks like it has none of that. And as was stated above, since there is no LS on the pamphlet, it could be meant to replace it. Is it just me or does that clip look skinnier?

When this comes out, whats going to be it's main abbreviation? Longshot should stay LS, and the longstrike should be something else... I vote for NALS, or Not A Long Shot. Anyways, I agree fully with Fome, I don't care if its reverse plunger, it looks like its meant for some man hands. I'll just end up throwing a titan tank in it and integrating a SSPB anyways.

Did anyone else notice the design of the stock. Like the Recon and LS it holds a clip, but it looks to me like it holds it off to the side rather than the center of the stock like we have seen with previous clip blasters. It kind of looks like a fender to me, like on an old style car. If it has the same setup on both sides, that means it can carry 2 clips for reloading instead of just one. Not a major innovation but a nice little upgrade none-the-less.

In terms of plunger style, I see more design elements of the LS than the recon/raider set up. It appears to have enough space to house a LS style plunger, and the priming handle is the same. It would seem silly to have those similarities only to have an internal reverse plunger. We already have on recon redesign, it seems most likely that this is the the LS turn.

@Seven7h Man, the night finder has a good range stock, especially the 1st Gen. The load and fire style blasters tend to require less air to perform as well as the clip style weapons because of more efficient use of air, less dead space, and a better seal between barrel and plunger tube. The LnL, NF and TTG are some of the best examples of that simple and effective design.
