Those fields both look like shit. I suggest someone (a person) that lives in the area (Columbus) goes and finds us a few (SEVERAL) (A COUPLE) (MAYBE TWO/DOS/2) places we can go if the regular spot (THE CASTLE PLACE) doesn't work out (if we can't nerf there) (if there are little kids or something there (at the castle place)).

But yeah Lynx if you could get some real pics of backup fields that would be swell, so we don't have to find out day of the war that our backup fields are full of fail.

Lynx, this is just a friendly note: Calm down a bit, buddy. I wasn't even at that war and I know you fell four times. It seems like you try to include that fact in as many places as you can. We get it. You fell. OK. Let's focus on planning the next war so you can fall somewhere new. Also, please keep your transaction with bobafan though PM's so this thread doesn't get cluttered with random shit.

Anywhoo, I'm pretty familiar with parks in Columbus, so I'm going to do my best to compile a list of possible locations in the next week. I emailed the Wyckilffe School requesting any stock photos they had of the castle park, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

I wouldn't even count the castle place in. There will without a doubt be kids there, and the parents will most likely call the cops thinking we are playing paintball. We'd be kicked out in no time. We'd be playing at the backup places the whole day; and because they are backups, that usually means you'd rather nerf somewhere else (the primary nerfing area). Find a good place that won't be full of little kids before you start finding backups for said place.
But if backups are the best we can do, I'd play there anyways.

They will be full of fail if you show up anyway, but I concur.

I will not be able to get any pictures up since I do not have a camera. On the other hand, we do know that Whetstone is a good back up and that it is less that 15 minutes away from where we would play.

However, we also know that we have 2 potential spots fairly close to where we would play (walking distance). Provided we have nice weather, we could easily walk to spot number 1 and 2 if they look good and if they suck, we have Whetstone.

The problem with Whetstone is that there is commonly soccer going on so we might have to confine ourselves to one part of the field that we played on last time. Even then, we will have a ton of nice space where we can play.

This is on the 21st.

I'd still like to have pictures of any other parks around there but if nobody's able to go do that we need to figure out whether our first choice is the castle place or Whetstone. The castle place will almost certainly have little kids but it looks awesome.

Hey, I'm most likely not going to be in attendance. I have FJ Nationals that weekend (I sail.) Maybe we can get another one hosted in August-ish time frame? I know of at least four other people who would attend.

I believe everyone wants to give the Castle Park a shot so I will go to the park ahead of time and look to see if there are people there.

If there are no people in Castle Park I will just wait until the group comes.

If there are people in Castle Park, I will call and say that we should meet at Whetstone. I can take PM's with phone numbers.

BTW, I fell down 4 times at the last war.

IF there are any other Ann Arbor residents (or people from hereabouts) who would like to carpool to this event, I would love to go. It is, however, about a three hour drive, which, while not that bad, still means leaving at around 6:00am, something which is not to be taken lightly, and which I'm not enthusiastic about doing myself.

We do still need to figure out where we're playing because like oodalumps said the castle place will have children. Pictures would still be nice and I'd like some updates on who's going.

If we end up playing in an open field again, it would be nice if we had some kind of obstacles brought to make the war more interesting. Something like stacking big plastic tubs to make walls.

I expect I'll be there. I'm going to try and make some obstacles like the ones Cpt. Slug brought to the DCNO but with a few modifications. (Namely less flexible material, and better clips to hold the tarps.) Will we be able to drive metal poles into the ground where we have the war?

I think we should just go to Whetstone since we can still have plenty of fun even if there are kids there (soccer fields on other side of parking lot). If parents ask us to move, we can just move further down. The Castle Park will be lodged with kids so we will be screwed. Whetstone seems like our safest and still very fun place to play.

And Twitch, we will be at a park where there is open field that is maintained by the Columbus recreation department. You will be doing them a favor by aerating their fields. Also, I have seen the park activities do a lot worse than a small hole in the ground (one group almost killed a small tree and another littered the heck out of the old playground, both were official groups).

Heads up. a person not yet named will be attending the war. I have his e-mail and he is likely to come. Put me down as a plus 1!

I have a baseball game at 9am so I will attend the game then the war. I hope we play at Whetstone since it is more convenient for me.

As I said, I have a 9:30 Baseball game so I will play baseball, go home, eat/grab NERFing supplies, go to Nerf war and be ashamed I didn't show up earlier...

We should play until whenever we need to leave since I am REALLY prepared this time. Falcon has helped me with a BBB mod that will be sick! I can't wait for this one.

Please wear eye protection, bring plenty of water/gatorade/powerade, and bring a lunch (fast food isn't that far away but it IS easier to bring your own).

As usual I will need stefans. I need some that fit cpvc moderately. It should not need to be squeezed in or slid in. I will purchase 100-150 before the war from whoever will make them. We can negotiate prices through pm's.

I might be able to come (3hr drive). So you know maybe but I would like to go but 3 hrs is about my parents limit you know most vacation drives aren't that long except Gulf Shores which is where I'm going this year. That big of a playing field and underground passages would make a great man hunt game. Oh um well I just checked and that's my old school's picnic so 22 would be best.

Also, the date is set for the 21st at Whetstone Park of Roses, Columbus, Ohio.

Finally, can anyone get me darts that I can buy? As stated, they need to fit cpvc nicely.

EDIT: Forgot the date and also I never promised I'd be able to do anything even if the date was moved.

Apparently when my parents went to OSU they went to this park a lot and my mom says it's really picky about what kind of people are allowed in. Have you guys had a war here before without any problems? I'd hate to have everyone show up and then be asked to leave.

The coppers won't bother us at Whetstone. I don't know which park you are talking about though.

Also, I would like people to post on whether or not they would come.

This will be a small war if bpso86 and Twitch don't bring 4-5 people so...Twitch, bpso86, can you bring people as usual?



EDIT: I would actually like to use a melee foam sword if at all possible. I know bpso86 and Twitch can get their hands on 1. So...Can you bring a foam sword that I can borrow?
