#212862 Broken S.s As-1 Help!

Posted by Quilan Fett on 16 February 2009 - 07:01 PM in General Nerf

i would get another but gas would cost more to go to the other side of town then to get my 3 dollars back....

Good lord... How large is your town? Even if your car only got 10MPG, and the store was less than 15 miles from your house, it would still be worth it. Honestly, if you don't start with a working unit, then you won't get very far.

Do your math again. Using your numbers, he would use 2-3 gallons and at around $2 per gallon, that's 4-6 dollars compared to 3 dollars.

skylarkoz- Try pumping it really fast. When I first got mine I was majorly bummed cause it wouldn't work. It took me about an hour of searching to find that I just needed to pump faster.

#157498 Shell Rims

Posted by Quilan Fett on 30 May 2008 - 08:57 PM in Homemades

A 1/2" coupler fits well in thinwall 1" PVC. It does not fit in normal 1". Look for a spring that looks like a NF spring. Ususally called 9713, mine are C-8_ _ something.

For the shells, You could use 1/2"PVC in thinwall 3/4"PVC or 1/2" PVC with couplers in thinwall 1" PVC. Or you could always use brass to fit over/in the 1/2" PVC.

#147763 Vinyl Tubing Help

Posted by Quilan Fett on 29 March 2008 - 01:57 PM in Off Topic

Well, i am making a FAR variant, but for some reason I decided to attach the charging handle at the front of the plunger. To seal it off, I used the Vinyl tubing over a threaded steel rod. To get them into the hole, I put the charging handle into my dirll and turned it on high power. It went in and melted a bit, creating a better airseal, but I guess some debris got left inside the plunger and is impeding airflow. To take the plunger out, I have to pull the vinyl-covered charging handle out and worsen its seal.

#144324 Barrel Replacements

Posted by Quilan Fett on 08 March 2008 - 02:57 PM in Modifications

The air doesn't all come out at once, so a tighter barrel with more friction holds the dart in longer, allowing more air to build up behind it. The original barrels are looser than brass or PETG and have less friction.

#105467 Question

Is the Total X-Stream Air Rapid Fire Rev Shot air powered or is there a cocking mech on it?

Cocking.

#147754 Vinyl Tubing Help

Posted by Quilan Fett on 29 March 2008 - 01:43 PM in Off Topic

I am working on a homemade, but I have gotten vinyl (I think) tubing debris between my barrel and plunger. My plunger is 1" 200psi PVC. I want to try pouring hot, or possibly boiling water down the barrel to try and melt the vinyl, but I am wondering:
1. Is this safe?
2. Will this damage the PVC?
3. Will this work?
4. Will this damage my PETG barrel?

I am not positive that this is vinyl. It is flexible clear tubing that you can buy at ACE. It is 1/4" ID and 3/8 OD.

#157560 Shell Rims

Posted by Quilan Fett on 31 May 2008 - 03:36 PM in Homemades

I might have access to a lathe, so I'll be able to thin down anything I need to. I don't want to go out and buy more supplies when i can just use what I already have.

EDIT: Just checked, SDR 21 1" PVC (thin wall/200psi) Is only 2.25 a foot. Guess I'll get some.

Are you sure it's not 2.25 for 10 feet? It is really cheap at Home Depot.

I'd also flip the tank and put it under the barrel where the back half used to connect. Make it more compact, sturdy, and prettier. Hook up the barrel and the tank with large diameter (1/2") vinyl tubing.

#120626 Maverick Question

Posted by Quilan Fett on 21 August 2007 - 12:28 PM in Modifications

I figured out it is the plunger rubbing against the turret, and it works if it is cocked.

#120623 Maverick Question

Posted by Quilan Fett on 21 August 2007 - 12:03 PM in Modifications

It used to work fine.
I did take tthe rotation mech apart to do CS's mod, but there is no orange peice on top. I am pretty sure I got it back together right.
As I said before, it works fine until I put the second half of the shell on.

#147638 Crossfire Catch Replacement

Posted by Quilan Fett on 28 March 2008 - 10:58 PM in Off Topic

The whole catch or just the spring? If it is the spring, just use a pen spring. If it is the whole catch, you're out of luck except if you have a spare catch from a mav, scout, or longshot pistol, which I think all have the same catch.

#126483 Brass In Cpvc?

Posted by Quilan Fett on 17 October 2007 - 05:48 PM in General Nerf

Does 15/32 brass seal in 1/2 CPVC? If not, does antother material (ie. PEX) fit well?
I am asking because I want to make a CPVC breech.

#135140 At3k Rotation Problem

Posted by Quilan Fett on 06 January 2008 - 12:59 PM in Modifications

I have not read about this happening to other people, so maybe mine is just a defect. When I pump my AT3K, it doesn't always rotate. The other one is identical (6" PETG barrels) and works fine. What I think is happening is that it doesn't rotate far enough for it to catch the next time. I think this happened when I was drilling out the AR's (just 'cause I was bored) on the stock barrels. I must have gotten a little too rough. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have any suggestions?
Any help is appreciated.

#145329 Homemade Springer Technology?

Posted by Quilan Fett on 15 March 2008 - 11:56 PM in Homemades

i also had trouble with this. Using Carbon's clothespin trigger, a hole is drilled through the clothespin and through the plunger tube. The plunger head has a ramp leading up to a slot behind the o-ring. A nail is put in the clothespin through both holes and the plunger is pulled back. The plunger goes back and the nail is pushed up the ramp and into the slot. Now, the plunger cannot move forward until the nail is pulled out. The clothespin is then used as a lever, as an angle bracket has been glued to it. When the angle bracket is pulled back like a trigger, the nail is pulled out or the slot, allowing the spring to push the plunger forward. Below is a picture of a plunger head and of a clothespin trigger of mine. Scroll down to the "Cocked" and "Uncocked pictures". These are exploded versions of a homemade of mine. If you have any more questions about homemades or the physics of Nerf, feel free to PM me, as I am happy to help.

The Vulcan -a Batterey powered 25-dart chain fed automatic with a tripod, Green DTB's, titans, hornets, and scouts, an Ironman Magstrike, something called an eliminator, and a TRU exclusive 10-shot clip fed pistol called the Photon Burst.

But nothing actually significant.

#126493 Brass In Cpvc?

Posted by Quilan Fett on 17 October 2007 - 06:57 PM in General Nerf

The CPVC would be the barrel. Think Angel's LS. The brass pushes the dart in further and makes a seal.

Also, I already use CPVC and it is not too tight for me. 17/32 brass' ID is .50. CPVC's ID is .48. It's not that tight.

#126720 Pvc Question

PVC and CPVC are generally sold by the foot up to 10 feet. Stock taggers fit in 1/2" PVC.

#133968 O-ring Size

#177098 New Way To Remove Pegs

Posted by Quilan Fett on 13 September 2008 - 01:46 PM in Modifications

So... I was doing a barrel replacement/AR removal on my hornet and I started to cut the stock barrels off and then I realized that I was only geting part of the pegs off too. So I looked around and saw my Swiss Army Knife (one of the knives that has so much crap that you will never use on it), I goofed around with various attachments until I came to the right one. Now for the actual write up.
1. Get your favorite stock gun and a swiss army knife.
2. Next get out a corkscrew attachment.
3. Twist the corkscrew on the peg.
4. When you cannot twist the corkscrew anymore, push and pull it as much as you can in any direction.
5. Pull the corkscrew out as hard as you can (don't twist it out).
6. Push the peg out of corkscrew using a pencil tip.
7. Repeat on other barrels and guns.
Side Notes:

  • This may only work on externally loading guns (magstrike and Vulcan being the exceptions)
  • This only gets the pegs out
  • I am still looking for a way to get The hornet Ar out. The flat head screwdriver method does not work for me.
Questions?Comments?Flames?

Do not do this on air guns, especially delicate ones like hornet, blastfire, and SMDTB as it may damage the tank.

I think that the titan tank is similar to 2.25'' PVC (OD).

#199130 Breech Sizing

Posted by Quilan Fett on 27 December 2008 - 01:42 AM in General Nerf

Most 1/2" PVC fits Mega darts. Maybe your old stuff was odd. I'd just use brass over the PVC. It will work better.
