#332927 SledgeFire A/R Removal
Posted by MavericK96 on 12 August 2013 - 02:54 PM in Modifications
I assume doing an AR removal would solve this, but I'd kinda hate to lose the ability to fire less than 3 darts at once.

Works great, is very light and compact, and does up to 160 PSI. Build quality feels very sturdy, too.
EDIT: Here's a picture of it next to a sprinkler valve (the PVC tank is 1" PVC)
#87495 Stefans In Longshot
Posted by MavericK96 on 15 August 2006 - 02:50 AM in Modifications
Anyway, I've also been curious about using Stefans in the Longshot ever since I bought it recently. I made a batch of micro-Stefans for my Mavericks (I've had this nick long before the gun was ever conceived, btw ;P but based on the name alone I had to buy them, heh), and attempting to use these in my Longshot resulted in failure. The dart itself fits fine in the clip, and appears to fit in the barrel alright, but for some reason it either gets pushed too far forward, or not far enough forward, and results in the dart either not firing and/or being able to just fall out of the barrel. What I'd really like to know is if the restrictor is removed from the gun, can these be used? Or is the only option to just use Stefan-converted micro-darts? Thanks for the help.

Nice job on the front barrel cut-off with the white pieces. Looks more than halfways decent, which is hard to say for some other cut-off jobs I've seen. I like your battery connector solution, too.
EDIT: Also, regarding your battery question, the two 7.2v batteries read something like 16.7v fully-charged because 7.2v is just the battery's nominal voltage. A lot of the time full batteries will vary upwards of that by quite a bit.
(And it doesn't take an electrical engineer, but as it so happens, I am one. )
#287134 Nerf Assassination 4: The Firm
Posted by MavericK96 on 18 October 2010 - 04:45 PM in General Nerf
- @MaveriK96 Definitely was something I was worried about. We thought we'd try something new. The narrative portion of this particular installment ran more than twice as long as I had intended. Some of the lengthiness was due to us making up for never giving any plot direction in NA1-3. I'm hoping to trim it back in the NA5 without completely compromising the story.
Yeah, I think the same amount of plot could be achieved with some shorter back-and-forths between characters rather than a super-long mission set-up monologue.
One idea could be to have the mission set-up dialogue be interspersed with the actual mission taking place, such that as they are talking about what they need to do as it is happening. A lot of movies these days like to use that technique and I think it can work well if properly implemented.
In any case, looking forward to seeing the next installment. There seems to be an overall lack of decent Nerf-related movie-videos out there.

If you can't wait for it to come out in the states, you can get it on ebay, if you want to spend the money.
Dart Tag 20 Swarm fire
You could buy like 4 Stampedes for that price. No thanks, lol.

I think I'd rather spend that kind of money on a +bow. Anyway, Who on earth named it anyway? (I mean which PERSON named it.)
Perhaps, but I meant in terms of a similar-type, stock blaster price comparison.

#290432 Ultimator With K14 Spring And Clear Plunger Tube
Posted by MavericK96 on 07 December 2010 - 11:51 PM in Modifications
And just for the benefit of those that have never seen/fired one of these: how exactly does one prime an ultimator?
You "pump" the priming handle (i.e. lift it upward) about 20 times (however many times it takes for it to stop being prime-able). It's not an air pump, though, it just gradually draws back the plunger with each "pump".

#284145 Barricade Rev-10

Not sure what to think of this. Flywheels are kind of lame, but at the same time it looked like it had pretty good performance and could be a decent sidearm if nothing else. Overall the front end looks way too bulky, though, presumably because of the flywheel housing.
Also would like to know what kind of battery life it has.
EDIT: If you look at this picture, you see that the rear of the blaster does not appear to house a plunger, so it's likely just for holding the pistol grip and stock attachment.
EDIT2: And I think this picture says it all. Flywheels right up in there.

#288505 New Nerf Gun
Posted by MavericK96 on 16 November 2010 - 10:15 PM in News
This blaster is already available in stores in Australia. It's semi-automatic and the voltage can be upped to 11volt. At 12volt, however, there seems to be a shut off switch IN the motor (I was a t a mod party where these were going around). This blaster gets about the same range as a well modified maverick. Here it retails for about 35AUD which is pretty close to USD because your economy sucks... I believe it also has flywheels that run vertically not horizontally. Only for use with suctions and screamers, you'll have to put e-tape on those wheels for use with streamlines and stefans.
Thanks,
Hamish
I certainly hope it's not 35 USD. Seems ridiculously expensive for that.
Hopefully it's more like 20-25 USD.

Or you could do a grip 'on' momentary switch much the same way some pistols have a grip safety
http://bultransmark......ip Safety.jpg
Yeah, that would probably be a pretty quick and easy mod, and it would help a lot with not having to remember to flip the switch on/off all the time.

I don't know how it was for the OP, but pulling the orange piece off the end of the metal cylinder rod was EXTREMELY difficult for me. Way more so than the Maverick. I pulled as hard as I could for about 15 minutes before it finally gave way, but in the process I ended up flinging the orange end piece and the spring to god knows where in my room. I will probably eventually find it again, but for the moment I'm stuck with a non-working blaster because the thing was so damn difficult to pull apart.
So I guess if anything this is just a warning that it may take a lot of force, and to be careful not to lose the orange piece and spring.
#88034 When And How Did You Start Nerfing?
Posted by MavericK96 on 22 August 2006 - 04:17 AM in General Nerf
First modded gun - Same, I think. Sawed off the tip for better airflow and dart-firing capability First gun I ever opened up was probably the Crossbow or the Sharpshooter II.
Don't remember how I got into Nerf. Probably just got the first as a gift, and thought it was really fun to shoot friends so I got more.
#286865 Nerf Stampede - Mod Guide!
Posted by MavericK96 on 12 October 2010 - 10:03 AM in Modifications
Latest Important Update in the Mod Guide:
:: Aftermarket Spring Replacement ::
Note that the above voltages are tested with TrustFire 14500 unprotected Li-Ion rechargeable batteries. These unprotected Li-Ion batteries have high discharge rates which are necessary to provide the required torque to the motor to handle heavier spring loads.
Be advised that regular Alkaline batteries may not have high enough discharge rates to be able to produce the same results even at the same voltage.
Yeah, I've actually noted that even at around 8v, my batteries can power the Stampede with the 9kg spring, because they are high-drain (something like 38A) battery packs. Low RoF at that voltage, but it still has enough torque to fire.
