#253830 Modification and Paintjob Pictures
Posted by flyingchicken on 18 October 2009 - 12:43 PM in Modifications
My primary, the Chickenbow. Airzone Scorpion Bow with an integrated Airtech 2000.
My back up primary, a very nicely modded BBB from Rogue, along with the original Roguescope.
My two TTGs. The painted one is a very nice loaner gun. The unpainted one is my dad's that I modded for him to use. Both are old-gen.
My NFs. Yellow and first gen have been cpvc couplered among other things, and the grey one has a PETG barrel.
My longshot I just completed.

My BBB. It's been through a lot; five wars, several people, and many modifications.
Mav-titan. I had nothing else to do with the shell and tank, so why not? My friend and I painted it.
One of my dad's primaries. I think I did a decent job with the paint. It's a longshot (duh) with an awesome Angel Breech (built by Rogue). Once we find good foam that fits it, it'll get a lot of use. It's hella powerful too.
NF's. The green one is my dad's, the white+flames mine, and the first gen is just there
Man, you have no idea what this pistol has been through. Mod after mod, paint job, breaking, gooping, gluing, wars, abuse, everything. I'm happy it still works.
Finally, my dad's new longshot. It's probably my best work yet (which is kinda sad). PETG barrel (needs to be shortened) with a stub of 17/32's brass in the bolt for a good seal. Longshot, recon, and Scorpion Bow spring. Great seal. Extremely functional. I've also integrated an AT2K; the tank is enclosed by the handle and fired by a keyring near the trigger. Has a Lt. Stefan breech (buy one) and a cpvc coupler. The best part? The two sides of the shell are completely separable.

#335610 Game Types and Rules for Nerf Wars
Posted by flyingchicken on 24 November 2013 - 06:52 PM in General Nerf
Robot Mind Control
Primary or Secondary?: Secondary
Supplies: Things that can be used as blindfolds, such as towels, shirts, actual blindfolds, etc.
People: As many teams as possible.
Field: We played this in a wide open field, which I think is best for this gametype.
Goal: To eliminate all other teams.
Rules: Players will divide into teams of two. One player (the robot) will be blindfolded, will use a blaster, and will have unlimited lives with no respawn time (essentially unaffected by being shot). The other player (the controller) has 1 life and will be unarmed. The goal of the game is for the controller to guide their robot into killing all the other controllers. When a controller is hit, both the controller and his robot are out. The controller is not allowed to touch their robot's blaster but may guide their robot's arms. The game ends when only one controller is left alive.
This gametype was hilarious and was probably the best three rounds of yesterday's war.
#215564 New Raider CS-35 Speculation Thread

When you think about it, it's just like the Big Bad Bow, with the hole front handle thing. Of course, it probably has the internals of a longshot/recon, but still.

I thought I saw a crank handle on the back of the drum, perhaps you crank the last 6?But how will the last 6 darts feed? The only mechanism I can think of is gravity, since the drum-mag is inserted horizontally. This implies it will not be interchangeable with the rest of the CS-line.
I doubt it, since the crank appears only to turn the inside of the drum.
I think that, if the internals are similar to the longshot, that someone could make this thing shoot like an LS, rangewise. Well Split?

It's plastic. That is impossible.
You obviously don't understand the laws of physics, namely leverage. No it would not weigh a ton literally, but try loading up a vulcan ammo box and tape it to the side of your longshot. It probably won't weigh all that much, but yes, it would weigh quite a bit. Add to that that the wieght is all at the top, and you have something that would put a lot of stress on the joint it connects to.
Salindin
I know. I'm just being sarcastic. I see what you mean, you have a valid point.

Why isn't anyone excited about the Nerf shoes?
Seriously, I bet someone could get at least 15' out of those...
I'm excited. Someone could build a bazooka and launch them!
15'? More like 200'!
I'm seriously debating whether to stick with LS clips or use the mag when it comes out.

Last year's APOC (and that whole weekend) was one of the best experiences of my life, so it's hard to compare it to last time. Nonetheless, I thought this war ran even better than last year's.
This war wouldn't have been possible for me without the help of joedimarco and his family; he hosted me, drove me places, and bought me food. The real MVP of this experience; thank you so much Joe.
And now, my thoughts:
+ Seeing all my Northeast friends again: Joe, Gears, Jlego, DX, Miguel, Groove, Zach, Dan, Sam, Nick, Lucian, Koree, Aeromech, Randomshadow, Craftsman.
+ Meeting awesome people: One Man Clan, Captain Slug, sublimedom, Ice Nine, Clownie, Griever, Shade, PBZ
+ Fanboying slightly over Slug
+ Getting to represent the South yet again with my comrades Zaxbys, Drac, and EOC
+ Using some of the finest slugs in existence, courtesy of Red. Dart recovery was great as well.
+ Took a few rounds to get going but I'm pretty happy with how I played throughout the day.
+ First war using a fanny pack to hold ammo; it's great, would highly recommend.
+ Somehow being intimidating with an Arrowstorm
+ Using the Grove instead of the main field most of the day
+ Lots of really good rounds; 3:15, speed rounds, and Freeze Tag, among others
+ Lots of good exchanges, especially with Gears, Dan, DX, and Jlego
+ Finally getting to do pistols at APOC! We had some really small but awesome Gunslingers rounds.
+ Filming an Effeminate Gunslingers showdown between TED and Jlego.
+ Team JaxcksonStorm?
+ Was a little nervous about meeting One Man Clan, but turns out he's super cool and fun to play with
+ Blasters worked pretty well; my Arrowstorm's reinforcements held up all day, though there were some rotation issues. The neoprene washer in my Crossbow's plunger head actually tore, which I wasn't expecting. Fortunately, I had a wonderful spare plunger rod made by Nerfomania that worked flawlessly for the rest of the day.
+ Finally having my own GoPro and wearing it for a few rounds.
+ Snoop Doggy doge challenging me to a 1v1; it was enjoyable, and he put up a respectable fight, but I won 3-2. Keep up the good work, kid.
+ "Wipe the ravioli off your face and do something useful."
+ Being clumped with Team Valor as a non-player and getting rekt
+ Seeing all the northerners getting beat by the heat and humidity, y'all would've died at NoMNE
+ Rained lightly during the day, and packing up just in time to avoid the heavier showers
+ My reputation preceded me; within the first hour I was handed a BBB.
+ Sam asking me if I danced (I do), and giving me a really lovely compliment about how it shows in my movement. Thank you man.
+ Buying air blasters from Dom
+ Being hit in the safety goggles a few times; as much of a pain as they are, I'm glad I wear them over my prescription glasses.
+ Losing my blue bandanna, but Langley very awesomely gifted me a replacement.
+ Seeing a bunch of cameras, knowing there will be lots of great footage and pictures from this war.
+ First time flying with blasters and having no issues
+/- Screams for Harambe disrupting our lovely Gunslingers rounds
- None of Joe's stuff worked so he didn't play for half of the day, but he did eventually get a loaner
- Not getting a lot of personal pictures or video
- Hibachi place charged for refills
Huge thanks and props to Langley for once again running a great war.
10/10 would travel hundreds of miles to play with children's toys again

Do you know why the range is so good? It's weird because it's just like a Recon, but gets awesome range with just a few mods.
off topic: Ha, I see you've got the new yellow Ls.

How does the mag feel in an LS/recon? Awkward?
#223912 Community-wide Mod Contest
Posted by flyingchicken on 16 April 2009 - 06:28 AM in News
A technical question: Do we have to post the writeup to the official thread, as boom13 did, or for the sake of space and sanity, can we post the writeup to the main mods forum, and simply link to it from the official thread?
YesDo we post the write up in the modifications section as a stand-alone thread, and then provide a link to it in the submissions thread?
Yes.

Good job, and good luck!

WE HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM IN REGARDS TO THE AUGUSTA WAR.
I just got word from school officials that the school will be torn down starting this upcoming Friday for a rebuilding project. I am in the process of finding a new location for SOFA. Emergency PMs sent out.
Well, shit...
You have any location ideas in mind?

My longshot sucks; don't expect to see me with it.
Oh, I forget to mention, my dad will be playing a lot of rounds with us, so would that count as another person?

War is less then a week away, I need the maybes to start sounding off.
Lunch: Veggy, any update from your dad?
Flying Chicken: someone from my crew will likely employ the use of your BBB.
I haven't range tested yet, but it is accurate even with a slightly crooked coupler, and I know it at least gets in the 70's.
I'm really sorry, but I can't lend out the 2k; I'm intergrating it on my longshot. (yay)
I need to make some more darts...
I'll actually have a PETG'd AT3k to lend out. It needs about 5 good pumps for max range, though.
Oh, there are 13 definites now; one of ezemoney's guests is not going.
