The N.m. F.a.c.

Sorry, I can't post pictures of my mod work right now, I don't have access to a camera.

However, its pretty simple what I have done so far, and what I am going to do. But I want ideas, ideas, ideas to make this as successful as possible.

A while back, I decided to build an automated airsoft turret, and to be portable I decided to use a tiny gun, and it had to be electric, so I chose a (hard decision) mini electric airsoft gun.

I chose this one below because it was two for eight bucks each and I was hoping to make more than one... and sell them.

Anyway, I had some problems with the first one involving the required current to flip the only relay at any nearby radioshacks, and inability to use a transistor because the gun requires 2 amps of current... I have the solution to make it work in my mind, but I am too damn lazy to start it up again...

Anyway, this project is to build a duisguisably hidden five round burst automatic little... thing... that you can bring with you for when the situation gets tight...

NM-FAC stands for Nerf Mini - Fully Automatic Crap.

What I have done so far is remove the trigger and safety, replace the four AA batteries with a 9v, and cut away up to the sight so that part of the barrel is exposed and nerf darts can be jammed on there. The trigger is replaced with a crappy little switch coming out the back, held up only by a thick wire, as I intend to make it able to gun up your sleeve to go on, say, a watch for secret firing. I tried adding a little smaller barrel in front for the dart to go on, but it fell off, and it isn't what I want to use in the end ANYWAY. I also had a problem with the barrel wiggling, which I hotglued in place, and I also had to flip the thing which allows the airsoft bbs to enter to upside down, thus preventing leaks.

I am soon going to hacksaw off everything unnecessary... The fake clip, the whole front barrel, the stock (brain fart... that doesn't sound right... the shoulder rest??), and the handle (which is also the ex-hopper). All that will be left is a little box.

I am going to get a spring hopefully 1.5-2x as powerful in order to slow down the ROF, which at the moment is probably around six or seven rounds per second... Too high to be good for what its made for - no need to aim, simply point and shoot.

I am also thinking about making two wire loops around each dart (with a single wire connecting the loops) that controls when electricity can go through the gun. This way I could use a weighted clip without risking hitting someone in the balls with a block of wood (speed won't be a problem... I'm expecting a 20ft max range when done)

Also, the piston case is made to go backward in the process and then forward, allowing an airsoft bb to fall in before the plunger goes all the way forward. Right now there isn't much I can do to stop this, but I am going to replace the weak string with a much stronger one, and the problem will be solved.

Lets see, what else...

I am thinking of using a gravity fed mag that is RIGHT NEXT TO the plunger, which holds only five darts. Maybe I will go to four or less, depending on the size issue... This gun won't be worth shit if it gets in the way, is impractical to hide, or weighs so much it throws off your aim when on your arm.

Well, I am looking for people to suggest things in order to make this the perfect hidden spy auto burst weapon, including what to disguise it as. I'm thinking just have it as a weird kind of box that straps to your forearm, with a ring on your index finger that can easily be pressed with your thumb.

Anyway, comments/suggestions/flames (lol)?

Hopefully I can get a pic of the internals for you.

And at the moment it shoots about four feet (lol) but I'm not worried about that, a stronger spring, maybe even a larger piston, and mathematically calculated barrel sizes will fix all.

Edit:

Okay, for the moment, this will have to do. If you look closely, you can see the motor above the handle, which turns that big white gear, which pulls back the piston. The handle is the hopper, and ammo is dropped in when the piston case or shell or whatever its called goes back, revealing a hole for a bb to fall through.

Electric Semi-auto Nerf Rifle?

12 April 2006 - 03:49 PM

Okay, I am a long airsoft player, and I found this site thanks to BoltSniper, his site gives a link here.

Hopefully my first thread won't be totally noobish.

Anyway, I have been thinking about how to do the impossible nerf stuff, such as grip-fed pistols & fully automatics (that aren't as giant as a gatling...) & grenades.

I got a bunch of ideas in the four days I waited to get activated, but only one is worth anything more than total crap (pm me if you are interested anyway)

So my idea: While thinking of making improvements to the CSHG, I though of something great: magnets & electromagnets. Just an idea, but I kept it in myhead.

So not make a plunger-fired rifle using a solenoid electromagnet & a magnet plunger??

I am at school right now so I can't post any pictures, but you should get the idea... If not, google solenoids...

All the trigger system would do is have three stages...

Stage 1: relaxed. No current passing through the gun.
Stage 2. Power runs to activate the solenoid and pull the plunger back.
Stage 3: Charge is reversed, the plunger shoots forward, and shoots the dart.

Pulling the trigger would make the stages go from one to two to three to two to one.

It would probably have a gigantic clip that is either gravity fed for simplicity or spring fed for convenience.

Before I do more research on the magnet sizes, barrel sizes, and other necessary information, I want to see what people think... Whether its good or bad, I am sooo making this, though.

Is this plausible?? Can it possibly be done???
