Thanks for the idea. And by the way, that is an .222 cal rifle shell that I have cut in half.

Yeah, this probably not a good idea, seeing as gunpowder can be ignited by friction. Unless you took 5 minutes slowly sawing, you risked the shell firing.
Or was the shell already fired, and only the casing?

As for the bbb, bbb's painted black just seem bland to me. I would buy some purple paint (darker than the original) and do a bit of detail work. But hey, it's your gun, if you like it, use it. If not, go out and buy another. That's the beauty of nerf.

The shell had already been fired. I am using it as a bolt. The other half is sanded and filled with hot glue.

Now, lets get of the shell.

I do like it the way it is. I can hide very well with it.

That's exactly right. I put stocks on most of my guns for that reason.

Hot glue...I know most people say its not sturdy enough, but its held for me. Haven't posted lately, but here's the latest modification:





Bipod works, and sight is dead acurate at 24 feet.

I found that, if your crayola barrel can accommodate this, simply remove the PVC and stick the dart 3/4ths of the way down the crayola barrel, such that only the tip of what would be a standard dart sticks out. My friends have reported that this hurts more. And if you have an old gun with a stock that doesn't work anymore, hack off the stock and stick it onto the back with gorilla glue/epoxy, some small planks of wood (like, 1"x5" pieces) and some screws. I get the feeling that hot glue and PVC would fall off the first time you drop the thing.
