Band avatars have already been discussed, read the thread.

Have to agree with Black Wrath on this one. Tom, this probably isn't your kind of site.

Hey, Cx, do you have a problem with me stealing my road runner avatar and using it for NHQ? If you object for whatever reason I won't use it.

What's that mean? I just right clicked on it, and got properties, then the URL. I used that in NHQ. Should I have done something different?

You're using me as your image host. Not nice.

Download the picture to your computer, upload it to bitbucket or whatever the fuck that image host is that allows hotlinking, use that as your avatar URL on NHQ.

I dont see why we cant make our own avatars host them some where and hotlink them here, instead of submitting 5 things etc. I know thats the rules but , why? I have a thumbnail size image, of my fox user foto and would love to use that as my avatar

Because, chances are, I'd fucking hate your avatar. Or the one the next guy decides to use... I rather dislike having the pathetic judgement of typical forum users shoved down my throat every time I read a thread.

I don't expect you to like it but hey, there it is.

Were you talking to me, Lone Fox, or both there?

Well, that sounds like more anime and frankly I can't tell any of our current anime avatars apart as it is so not likely.

WC3 and Starcraft are being processed (cropped, palate simplified, resized, optimized) now. I think I got all three SC races and most of the WC3 heros. Julie says to expect them by Monday.

As promised back in November, I've removed the duplicate avatars that were still in the old file structure location.

If your avatar just disappeared all you have to do is go to your control panel and reselect it.

I had to organize the avatars into some kind of directory structure because Julie has made like 600 of them and pulling that file listing was hosing my FTP connection. So... they're all still there, just organized a bit.

You know, the only way to get a custom avatar is to submit five (or was it six?) pieces of original content to NH. There are some people, like me, that already own their own Nerf site and usually don't want to post their content on...somebody else's. Basically, I don't want to put my Nerf World content onto Nerf Haven because...well, I already have a host for it, and I want my site to grow as well.

What I'm trying to say is, isn't there any other way to gain a custom avatar/title? I mean, I would gladly pay a small fee for such.

"Man, who's knob do I have to polish to get a custom avatar around here?!"

I would like to take a moment say that the avatar gallery is superb, kudos to Julie.

<edit> I just realized that it definately sounded like I was fishing for a custom avatar with my compliment. Well, I wasn't; I'm satisfied using goofy looking characters from Harry Potter. w00t!

Well your concern is valid, but honestly, it's not supposed to be easy to get a custom avatar. We reallize a lot of our members have their own forums for contributing original content, but we really don't see how this changes anything. The custom avatars are meant to stand out in order to award people who make this site their home, and furnish it as if it were such. This is not to discriminate against those who, understanbily, do not (our avatar gallery IS massive), but instead to highlight those who do. As far as the payment idea goes, it was tossed around, but the point remains that the amount of users who would contribute funds (less than 1% I'd estimate) would not make the implimentation worthwhile at the moment. After we're done implimenting Karma we may have time to reevaluate this issue, but for the moment we're pretty satisfied with the policy.
