You should sell mod kits for this.

I'll think about it. I might be able to make the foregrip and then maybe include the hardware needed to bolt it onto the gun. But the customer will still have to drill the forward holes on the body shell as well as making the cuts needed on the lower front of the gun.

How many people would be interested in a kit version?

I'd buy a cut if it was a reasonable price you could have a kit with decorative pieces and one without.

Making a kit with the decorative plates would take much more time and would add 8 more pieces to the finished product. Possible, but not preferred due to the increased labor involved. All of the kits will ship as clear plastic and it will be up to the end user to paint the seperate pieces whatever opaque color they prefer.

A kit without decorative plates would cost $15 shipped since my material cost is pretty meager and I figured out that I won't need a threaded rod for the front of the gun. But don't go placing orders just yet. I'll need to make a second foregrip to refine the design a little bit so that I can make a batch of these in less time than the first one took.

I'll place a mcmaster order and then head to Target tomorrow. I should be able to start working on a batch of kits this weekend. I'll start offering them in the Trading section once I have a few to sell.

Problems? Not really. As long as the washers are wide enough to support the side panels then there won't be any worries of the threaded rod warping out of shape. #8-32 threaded rod is the same OD as the stock handle bar though so it's more than rigid enough.
The foregrip handle actually lowers the stress on the bolt itself by pushing it back and forth from both sides. That also makes the gun easier to prime. I figured out a more firendly and easier to implement way to add the slide to the front of the gun that will also make it easier to take the foregrip off of the gun.

More to come tomorrow afternoon when I'll try to record and post on Youtube a video of the gun operation. And I'll spend this Saturday working on the first batch of kits. Hopefully I can start accepting orders sometime next week.

I'll defiilty buy a kit. How much work do I have to do when I recieve it? Is it hard? Can you list in steps what to do?

Step 1: Open body shell of the the gun and remove the bipod legs.
Step 2: Cut the body shell halves as shown in the photo on this document. http://www.captainsl.../ls-shotgun.doc
Step 3: Put the gun shell halves together temporarily (don't tighten any screws, just use some masking tape to hold the halves together for the next two steps)
Step 4: Feed the threaded rod through the bolts sled
Step 5: Slide the foregrip side pieces onto both ends of the threaded rod. Now use a permanent marker to mark the spots on the front of the gun where you will need to drill the holes for the slides.
Step 6: With the gun still taped together drill the two holes (3/16th" diameter)
Step 7: Untape the gun and open it to clear out and plastic shavings that resulted from the drilling. Now thread the short bolts outwards through the holes you drilled and affix to the shell with a hex nut.
Step 8: Screw the two body shell halves back together.
Step 9: Install the foregrip on the gun.

I am starting tonight and will keep a photographic log of the above process that will illustrate every step. If you have ANY type of cutting tool (rotary tool, hacksaw, jigsaw, scrollsaw...) and a powerdrill you will be able to install the kit.

Captain, Very nice, and original. This makes the Longshot absolutly perfect with this.

I'd be interested in a kit myself. I think you got yourself a business there.

If any of you want to make your gun compatible with the kit in advance you will need to trim the body shell halves as shown below.

Just to see if it was possible I made the cuts using a simple hand saw from a mitre box and with only a little bit of sanding that's how it ends up.

I finally got the video up. The darts are coming out of the gun too fast for the camera too see. In fact the first dart bounced off the wall and came back at me.
Youtube has been acting weird so I just uploaded it to my webspace.

The video is compressed in DivX 5. You will need either the codec installed, or just open it remotely using VideoLan's VLC player.

Alternatively here's the same video on Youtube:

I now have over 10 people interested in order but I do not want to accept orders until I have actual kits produced to sell. When I do have kits to offer I will start a thread in the Trading section then post a link to it from this thread.
