DO NOT plug that hole on your plunger head. I just tried it, and severely messed up my Magstrike. The plunger would travel forward pretty slow, then it would hiss like it didn't have enough air for the plunger head to go all the way forward. Luckily, I was able to get almost all the hotglue out by using a drill bit to melt the hotglue, which would then stick to the drill bit, then I would wipe it off and repeat.

Jesus... I could have sworn it was just another OP valve. Sorry guys, I was wrong.

Retiate, was the pump really hard to pull back out after you pumped it in after you plugged it?
If thats the case then I think its a one way valve to prevent the suction that would occur if air could not pass around the O-ring when the pump head traveled back up the pump shaft.

The pump? :(
Uh, I plugged the hole on the plunger head, the one that propells the darts. Eck, I feel kind of dumb. Well, don't plug that hole, everyone. I thought that hole would release air when there was too much pressure in the plunger tube, thus reducing ranges.

I don't think an OP valve on the pump is possible, as I can pump my gun until the bladder wants to break out of the case. Though I think Gengar said he plugged that hole, and he hasn't reported any problems, but I'm not sure on it.

I would imagine it's the same valve as the one on the plunger head, though. I have my Magstrike all closed up now, and I don't really want to open it again to see if plugging that hole changes anything. I'm pretty sure it's a one way valve, like you said. Otherwise the plunger would not be able to be drawn back without sucking air with it.

If anyone wants to test it out, put something removeable in the plunger head of your pump, not the plunger head that propells the darts. Stuff some FBR or something in there and see if anything changes.

So, don't plug the hole on the plunger head that propells the darts, as that will completely mess up your gun.
I guess I had the plunger heads mixed up. Oh well, at least I found something for everyone not to do.

Edit: Yeah, looking back at the pictures, I see it's impossible for him to be holding the plunger head I was talking about.

Haha! Retiate, are you serious? You glued up the hole on the end of the piston? Thats hilarious. Pass some of those drugs my way. I could use some more inspiration for my next gun.

So in conclusion, The effects of plugging that hole in the pump are not yet known.

Not sure if it produces problems either, but I would say that if it does, to just slap a check valve in it. Ther's enough room to put one from the old PC or any other gun. I would suggest some foam insulation around the check if you do to keep sharp edges from touching the bladder if there are any.

Has anyone had any problems with air leaking out of the pump after doing this mod? I modded my magstrike and it was fine for a few months, but now the bladder won't stay inflated and there is a hissing sound coming from the pump.

Believe it or not, I did this to two magstrikes before I realized something was wrong, but, now that I know how to remedy it I can use the pumps for other guns as I was prompted to replace the pump and bladder with a removable tank system (courtesy of CS's ingenuity, of course).

Um, yeah. I thought when you said another OP valve, you meant another that didn't have to do with the pump/bladder. I looked for one somewhere other than around the bladder/pump, and so I searched my broken Magstrike for more holes. I found the hole on the plunger head and thought it was a valve that would release pressure if too much got in the plunger tube - another air restrictor. So, I decided to test my theory, and I plugged the hole. Yeah, I had negative results, so I fixed the problem and reported what happened.
This is the only air powered gun with a plunger I have ever dealt with, so I really had no idea what that little hole was there for.

Has anyone had any problems with air leaking out of the pump after doing this mod? I modded my magstrike and it was fine for a few months, but now the bladder won't stay inflated and there is a hissing sound coming from the pump.

Yes, I have a huge mound of hotglue/plumbers goop around that area, and it still leaks. I gave up on it and bought another Magstrike. I have not had any leaking problems with my new one. So, I'd suggest returning your Magstrike and getting a new one.

I hate to post in an old topic but let me say this: if you sand/dremel off the green nub at the end of the bladder and cover up where it was with hot glue and take the white case off the bladder area then you can indeed shoot both clips in 35 pumps. I didn't do the new piece at the end of the barrel or dremel the bladder area but I can get them both off. Check my write-up on NHQ.

...thing happens to mine sometimes, stick your finger in the barrel to make it air tight, then pump a couple times to re-close it... If that doesnt work then you have to open it up and pull the rod back. For me I have to pump 55 and I get a shot that can break through soft wood, consistantly.-rokor

Forget about the pvc plug. It did not work well for me. just sand down the green nub or open the white end of bladder and flip the green nub upside down and cover it with plumbers goop.

oh, The way i did it was that i sanded the green thingy down first. Then I would put on a primer (purple thingy) then ABS Cement. For your Clip mod ( brass barrels) what size bit did you used to make the holes? I only have 1/2, 3/8, and 5/8 bit sizes. Which one do you suggest? If there to big could I maybe add more E-Tape on the barrel so it fits?

I used the plug it came with, removed all the OPR valve things and filled the hold with a lot of hotglue. Then I did the E-tape/hose clamp mod like you did with the PVC Plug. It's been working perfectly. No leaks through it, the hotglue is in there solid, and the hose clamp keeps the plug in tight.
Has anyone used OMC's PETG in a Magstrike clip? I'd like to see how well it works compared to the 17/32" brass. If anyone has done this, can they report ranges with red FBR if they have it, or with stock darts? Though my stock darts seem to be pretty loose in the PETG.

Here is KBarkers mod of the magstrike clip. He used 3'' PETG barrels.

Yeah, I saw that. But I'm not sure if it's the same PETG as OMC's. I guess the longer barrels like that probably help if it is OMC's PETG, since it's looser than the 17/32" brass.

Yes, I use OMCs PETG, and Forsaken's red foam. The gun shoots real well, but of course with 3" barrels you can only use stefans. I believe the longer barrels improve the range though.

Sorry to bring this topic back up since it's been a while, would zip ties work for the bladder plug or do you need to have the hose clamp?

While this is revived I'll sneak a question: It isn't bad, but my tank starts hissing after 27-29 pumps or so, but I can get roughly two clips out, depending what mood my Magstrike is in. Should I re-open it and hotglue the green nub again? Or is something else wrong?
