Polyethylene is the foam in FBR.
HDPE (Hgh Density PolyEthylene) is used for hard boards.
LDPE (Low Density PolyEthylene) is used for foams.
Yes, I've known about McMasterCarr for a while. I just haven't thought of checking them for such a purpose.
Maybe I'll get those instead of the custom ordered ones. They're cheaper too.
I'll do some research on chemical compounds (ie plastics) then I'll search the web for balls made of those plastics.

I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

They had LDPE and HDPE foam balls there at .5 and under too.
I'm thinking maybe .38" or .457"?

LDPE and HDPE are still versions of plastic are they not? The polyethylene foam is foam and thats what we fire in nerf. Whether it is hard or soft plastic it is still plastic and not foamish. I hope I am wrong with this but buy a pack of 10 or so and see how they work.No...

I've done this long enough in chem to know.Plastic = Any of various organic compounds produced by polymerization, capable of being molded, extruded, cast into various shapes and films, or drawn into filaments used as textile fibers.
Anyway, this is great. We're getting some really good alternatives here, all we need is some testing and stuff.

I trust that you all have seen the new marshmello guns in stores? The foam pellets that you can buy for them are the exact right size for half inch cpvc. They are exactly what you could hope for with a skin on them and a medum soft foam construction and are relitavely cheep. I thought you should know.

You guys need to read the whole thread damnit. I was saying that the foam marshmallows wont work as they will be like weighted FBR chunks. I wasnt saying Weighted FBR chunks is a better idea than spherical ammo. Geeze.
If you think spheres aren't aerodynamic at low velocity, have a look at short FBR cylinders; I'm not even sure how much worse that option is.
Those "foam marshmallows" are not actually marshmallow shaped, they are soft foam spheres made to fit in a marshmallow shooter. Trust me, ive seen them in the store at REI.

Not to be a nag, but this topic is more than a year old. Next time if you feel that what you have to say is extremely important for someone to know, send them a personal message informing them of it.

It's not just a YEAR old, it's two years old. Why can't people just read the dates? Seriously.
