If anybody has any feedback concerning the june 25th War held at Deal, this would be the appropriate time and place to voice it.

I think at this point we should look to see about doing something in July before Apoc comes around at the first sunday in August. Any takers? I'm up for anywhere, just name a date and a place.

Well the idea was to do another deal war sometime in august. This way we clean up any problems with game types and we use the momentum of the firstwar to get everyone there and really do it better the second time. Now I don't know if we wanted to have it that early in august, but there's certainly room for discussion. You could always have an early august war somewhere else and come back to deal later in the month. It's just that as far as the horsemen are concerned the only war we're really willing to host IS Deal. That's not to say that we won't have small skirmished by us, but nothing major. Obviously we'll try to get to whatever you guys hold too.The past two wars I have been to have probably been the best times I've had in 6 years. Despite their varying styles, I had just as much fun at Deal as I did at the May war. There's little more to say than the hits just keep on coming.

I'm not sure if I'm mistaken but if this rule was in-play, as I think it was, what was the point of it? Seems like you should be able to utilize such an advantage.

-Kudos to the LGLF, I really had a great time Nerfing with you guys. I finally got what Talio's been trying to tell me this whole time.
-HERSH! My fucking god man, you rocked out with your cock out this war! You almost single handidly tore us apart in the second Death Match.
-LCM, always a pleasure with you guys. Matt, you were a blast to watch during the Juggernaut round but Kevin truly is the Nerf King (ding!, go pink.). Tyler also hung in the pistol round long enough to ensure that the war ended without a lack of injury.
-Talio, my personal Secret Service agent. If the Kennedy's had had you on that motorcade the guy on the grassy knowl would have thought twice before taking a shot.
-And my dear Horsemen. Finally getting to Nerf together after over a year only reminded and reaffirmed why I stayed up until 2am everynight last week making darts.
Things to remember for next time:
I crunched the numbers again after counting out bottles and jugs and EVERYONE (Warlock) needs a gallon of water to last the day.
Juggernaut rules need to be refined a bit.
I think we'll keep it to just one round in the woods next time.
Cigars and whiskey are a must for post-game*.
Oh yeah, in regards to Evil's comment: The Juggernaut rules stated that the last team in possesion of the crown wins (ie, last team left standing). And everyone keep us posted on any wars you're planning. Vacc and I are pretty much set on holding a second Deal war later this summer as long as the interest is there.

In any case, I had fun. The only complaints I had were 1. I need to find darts that work. 2. I don't understand people that like to wonder around outside of battle during an entire round and then just come in at the end to play clean-up. Something about that mentality bothers me... as if some people just care about who wins the battles instead of having fun. That's not Nerf to me.
I'm definetly down for some more deal wars in the near future... I think I will be converting all my guns to micro darts, however. Apparantly no one can find a good reliable 5/8 backer rod. All the darts that I used that day sucked... there were two types that worked well in the maxshot, but sucked in everything else.

Nah, mine was firing like shit, too. I was barely getting 35 feet on my shots.I dunno dude, they fired out of everyone else's crossbows just fine it seemed (at least our darts did). You may need to take that thing apart and check it out. You told me you hadn't done that in 5 years.

Actually, they were working the best in my guns. The orange paint did a good deal more than just making them easily identifiable. It hardened on the rear flat of the dart. From a physics point of view, this meant that the foam wasn't as malleable, and aided in maximizing the pressure inside the barrel. More pressure equals more power.either of you have any sucess with my darts? They're the ones with the orange on the back.
A damned good idea. I think I'm gonna steal it from you.

No, I mean none of the darts at the war were firing dependably out of any of my weapons. Even when I switched to the Maxshots, the darts were all over the damn place. The only ones that worked worth a shit were Langley's darts. They fired nice and far out of the Maxshot, but still rather unreliably. When I got home, I took some of the darts I had laying around the house (which is about a total of 5) which were our older darts, and they fired like a champ out of the crossbow... and the maxshot... and the splitfire. That leads me to believe that the darts are the problem. In any case, I'm converting all my guns to Micros (not permanently) since no one can seem to find any reliable (ie non-shit) 5/8 foam. Micros seem to always work for me, so hopefully the next war will be a little better for me. I still thoroughly enjoyed the war.I dunno dude, they fired out of everyone else's crossbows just fine it seemed (at least our darts did). You may need to take that thing apart and check it out. For a holder I drilled appropriately sized holes in a thick block of wood and covered it in masking tape to keep the darts from falling out easily (the holes were a hair too big) and to prevent gunky build up on the block. You can use that blue foam insulation that comes in sheets too. It's easer to cut the holes in (you could use a brass tube that's a size too small to punch out the holes) but you need to make a new one every few batches because the paint dissolves it pretty quick.
For the first coat I use white Rustoleum Specialty Grip & Guard, which is this textured stuff I had lying around that you use on tool handles to give them that plastic sandpapery grip. I just happened to be out of white primer, but I think the grip&guard is mostly what makes the back kind of crusty and firm. It also probably builds up on the back and fills in the open cells better than plain white primer.
After 10 to 15 minutes I give it a coat of red-orange Rustoleum Specialty Fluorescent. This stuff works best in thin coats on a white primer and on my dark gray foam it looks dull without the primer, so go heavy on the white coat and light on the fluorescent stuff for the brightest effect.
After about 30 minutes you can poke the painted side of the dart to pop it out, but you could just as easily use a block that's thin enough to leave part of the dart sticking out as long as the holes fit the darts snugly enough to keep them from falling out.
That's probably more info than anyone really needed, but most of you know how anal I am about my darts, and I figured I'd be thorough so you don't have to deal with as much trial and error.

Are you measuring these darts against the curtain dude? If all the darts we bring fire out of my weapon, I'm not sure what else I can do. Phil's darts really didn't fire as well out of my gun as did the ones we made. I think you need to take your bow apart regardless of what you think the problem is, and clean your extension out.VACC, on Jun 28 2005, 12:43 AM, said:

As far as mini's go, ff you can find reliable 1/2 backer and make that for the next war, micro conversion might not be a bad idea for you. Regardless, let's keep the dart instructions out of this topic. I'm still hoping for something useful here.

Had a great time last Saturday at the war. It was fucking exhausting by the end of it, but it was the good kind of exhausting. You guys know the criticisms (there were few) that I had on Juggernaut and Captain Falls, but both of the scenarios seem workable. More importantly than the gameplay, it was great having everyone together again. Can't wait for the next war - and if cigars and whiskey are involved, can't wait for the postwar either.
