Alright, 7/23 it is. At this point, it's up to all of you to make sure it stays free!

Now let's talk location. Spoon, do you have any suggestions? I want plenty of open area, possible light cover like the urban area. I'm down with a different park as long as someone has been there on a nice sunny Saturday and confirmed that it's not majorly crowded. The best part about the park at Venado (Deerfield?) is that hardly anyone uses it.

Finally, since people plan around Irvine, I want the location to be reasonably close to that area.

That's not the best date for me, but I will do what I can. It more or less relies on how lenient my future employers are. I will know more in about a month.

Hey guys, I'm 14 and I've never been to a big nerf war. Just my friends and I mostly. I live in Illinois (chicago), but used to live in Irvine, and my dad might be there during the war, and he said he was considering taking me. I like to consider myself a noob and I'm really intimidated by all you guys being 16 and experienced. I have no idea what kinda ammo we all bring or anything. So if anyone would care to enlighten me in a pm or somethin, thatd be awesome.

Is the average age 16 still? Think it's pushing a little higher than that. Most of the people I know were around 16 when they attended the first war 4 or 5 years ago. Regardless, I don't think you have any reason to be concerned. Everyone there is just trying to have a good time, it was never all that competitive in spirit to tell you the truth.

Well, gentlemen, I have decided that it has been way too long since the Horsemen had a representative out to Armageddon. So this year, prepare for Death.

Since I'm the only one of the four of us that hasn't made it out for one o' these dealies yet, I figure it's high time I got my butt in gear. If I can count on July 23rd bein' the date, you can count on my participation.

Now, which airports are closest to the war site? Also, such a trip may require I stay a night or two. Can I sleep on anyone's roof/lawn/couch?

I've got one sofa and a fair amount of carpet available, as well as a few sleeping bags. There are currently 4-ish potential claimants to that space but I don't expect more than a couple to be able to make it so I don't think there will be a problem.

John Wayne airport is probably closest to the war site but if you're crashing at my house I'd suggest Ontario (ONT) since I could pick you up from there more easily.

I'm planning to take at least Friday the 22nd off work to mod, make darts, and hang out with whoever makes it here. I already have Wed off to take my son to Disneyland so I may just take Thursday as well.

I might(but very unlikely) be able to come out to Armageddon this year via relatives up near Oakland.
Again, this is all hypothetical, but its more atrractive to parents if I can get all the details before I ask.
1) Would someone in the area be able to pick me up at Santa Ana Airport the Friday afternoon/night before and drive me back to said airport the morning after the war(Exact times on these flights can be negotiated right now because there seem to be a few available).
2) Could they drive me to an affordable hotel, or provide lodging for those 2 nights

Like I said, it's unlikely but if I have all the details first, it is more attractive to the parents. Oh, I will be 18 at this point so you wont end up with an immature 12 year old on your hands.

Sweet, headcount so far looks in the upper twenties lower thirties easy.

I'll try to contact of all the other SD guys tomorrow, Steve, Jon, and I are coming for sure, rather I'm almost entirely positively sure that we're going, but occasionally accidents do occur. As to everyone else, I really have no idea at the moment.. I'll pass the word around.

But I was curious as to the response to Spoon's question, Kev, do you believe that we'll get kicked out of the Venando again? The teacher might not be there, which'd be sweet, but if he is, there's the Alamo, the park, the playground, etc... which of those would be the more likely scenario/area?

I am of the opinion that, until we find a new urban area, we can't do much better than Venado. I like the CTF area and the trees surrounded by lava in the park. I like The Alamo.

Spoon is of the opinion that Venado is stale and we need a new location to mix things up.

Until I hear a reasonable suggestion of an area in the general vicinity of North County, I win. Now bear in mind that I don't want to win because more than anything I would love to find a new urban area that we won't be thrown out of. Come on guys, find something good. Talk to friends and family and find some private property somewhere that we're explicitly allowed to use that matches the size and variety of the urban area.

Something like your backyard but with less trees and more ugly buildings.

Well, I'm back and not a n00b anymore, so I've decided to give Armageddon a try.

As for me, it's harder for me to make the earlier dates (like the sixes).

If I lived in California, I would be saying, "Yes yes yes yes YES!" but I probably wouldn't be able to get a ride there. So put me as an unlikely maybe.

Edit: No-go. I am having relatives over on the 22nd so that ruins my plans. Maybe next year.

I've grown alot, and would probably fare well in Armageddon. But I also wanted to go to an Armored Core tournament called Master of California. Both of these events will take all day...

And are scheduled on the same day. ;_;

It looks like I'll have to choose unless the dates are changed. I hope they are, somehow...

i'm down for the 23rd. all we really need is a decent area with a few trees and a large open space where we could set up some baricades and stuff. we'll look around here for some potentials.

Update on my arrival and whatnot:
I'm going to be flying in to LAX on the Twenty-Second. arriving at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Currently, I have a few issues that I need to solve. Firstly, I need some place to stay that night. When last I talked to Spoon, he said he might already have company at his place (though I'd be welcomed if there is room enough for me). If worse comes to worst, I can always put myself up in a hotel for the night. It's only that first night that is an issue. The rest of the week, I have a place to stay.

Secondly, there's the issue of guns. Vacc recommended seeing if I could borrow weapons off of you gentlemen, as he recounted that sending around his guns was quite a hassle. However, I'm kinda picky about my weaponry. So if anyone has an extra pair of Lock n' Loads and a Manta Ray lying around that they wouldn't mind my borrowing, sweet deal. Otherwise, I'm gonna need to ship my guns out to someone to hold for me till Armageddon.

Other than that, I cannot wait. This is gonna be a rockin' good time, gentlemen!
