I am currently working on a stryfe mod that involves this battery, I plan on using it in conjunction with MTB Honeybadger motors. However, not knowing much about electrical mods, I have no idea which wire I should use for this mod, as I was told a rewire was necessary for the parts I am using. 

Additionally,I noticed many mods include a microswitch addition to replace the old stryfe switch, but I have only seen this been done on 3s Lipo mods. Will such a thing be required for this mod, and if so, which switch?

 

TL;DR, what wires and switch(if any) to use?

 

*Note: I know the battery is massive, I plan to mount it on a worker stock

Yes you will need a minimum 10amp rated microswitching (sometimes referred to as a roller switch) there is no need for a batter that big when you can get a standard 2s lipo that is small enough to fit in the batteryear tray with minor modding (there is also a 3d printed door replacement you can get.)

As far as wire gauge goes most people recommend atleast 18awg wire with 16awg being perferred. Hobbyking.com has decent prices on good quality wire.

As far as the switch the stock one probably can take the voltage but it'll drop the flow of current in the circuit making your motor rev-up time longer and making the flywheels slow down more after every shot.

This is a good switch that Bobo recommended on his channel. again if you only plan to do one or two electrical mods it might be cheaper to look for something similar on ebay or amazon.

I literally said I know the battery is big. I already have it, it's one I'm getting for dirt cheap because it's coming from someone I know who has little use of it, plus the charger, so ~$40 worth of gear (and massive capacity) for $10. To me, much better than buying a $6 2s Lipo and $30-$40 charger + shipping when I have what I need already in that regard.

 Thank you. Is there a downside to using 18 awg compared to 16awg? 

I'll probably only be buying 1 switch if possible, would this sort of thing be at a (now endangered) radioshack?

At radio shack they do have lever and roller switches they are decent and much better then stock but wont give you top of the line proformance but the convenience is nice. As far as wire difference its not huge but it does increase max amps since bigger wire is capable of transfering more current

How much wire should I get? They sell 16awg in 1m strands (?) and I'm not sure what the total length ends up being inside the stryfe.

There's no downside to using 18 gauge wire over 16 gauge for a Super Stryfe application. I say this assuming you're using a high quality wire, such as those used in R/C vehicles. 18 gauge will probably be easier to work with, in fact. But if you want to have the "best and greatest," it won't hurt to use 16 gauge.

 

As a side note, using an 8 cell NiMH battery (as opposed to a 6 cell NiMH battery ) with honey badgers may produce higher FPS, but lower accuracy. I'm not saying this is a certainty as there are other variables to consider (such as darts used, flywheel alignment, playing style, etc.), but having the highest FPS isn't always the "best" option to take.

Make sure your wire is silicon insulated, due to the flexibility needed to bend it around without worry. Amps are the important part of the switch, needs to be rated for 10-16 amps

18AWG is all you need. The resistance wont worry you anyway, no point wasting that extra money and space inside your blaster.

I gave him exact responses, I didn't mention brands or provide links because both are available at local stores such as radio shack and possibly Fry's type store, especially since he mentioned radio shack specifically.
