Would I be able to wear my steel pot helmet? It's a vietnam era steel helmet, but I use it because when a nerf dart hits it, it makes a ping sound that makes it easier for me to hear.

I also have a nerf magazine chest rig (makes it easier for me to run around with clips) will that be okay too?

Dearest Phil,
As long as you aren't going full milsim that sounds fine, although we reserve the right to bust your balls about it. You might want to build yourself something that fires homemade darts, like the Mark 8, as most blasters that fire stock darts will be out-ranged. There will be some stock-darts-only rounds though.

Very generous, but Grz and hoongfu are talking about slug darts. Slugs are a regionally standardized homemade dart used in homemade/highly modified blasters. Here's the premier thread for making your own: Ryan's guide.

Almost everyone at Apoc will be using these with the exception of a few metal-free hippies. I'd buy/make some if you plan on using a hoppered homemade blaster or having someone loan you one during the war. Elite darts will feed through some hoppered blasters but they aren't accurate or reliable enough to compete with slugs.

IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST NERFHAVEN EVENT - You will need a blaster that fires homemade darts, preferably a home made spring powered blaster or an approved pump/valve style blaster. The majority of the games we are playing are not designed to accommodate blasters that fire stock (store-bought) darts. I strongly recommend that you come to another NerfHaven war first before you attend your first Apoc.

Some clarifications about the stock darts only rounds:

You will have the option to play extra rounds of freeze tag if you don't wish to participate in the stock darts only round.
Unmodified darts made by hasbro are permitted. Any knockoff darts must have similar performance and characteristics to stock hasbro darts, and are subject to the approval of Apoc round enforcers. To keep it simple, I'm going to go ahead and ban so-called "FVJs" for this block of rounds until someone gives me a compelling reason not to.
Homemade springers, high powered airguns like 4Bs, and other NIC grade blasters which are made to fire stock darts are subject to the approval of Apoc round enforcers, and are likely to be banned for this block of rounds. Special consideration will be given to weird NIC/superstock conglomerations (eg a 4b with a roughcut barrel assembly attached, a magazine fed plusbow, etc)

Try to have fun with this guys, don't try to game the rules and we won't have a problem.
