As I'm sure you all know we have an ever growing list of guns that are to powerful for the normal rounds that we play. So I would like to see what you think about the idea of an over powered round for blasters that hit 140+. That way the money we put in some of our guns can actually go somewhere with out overwhelming or even hurting some of the newer members in our fine community. This round would be a 3-15, ALL individuals must maintain a 60 ft distance from the other players. If you find yourself too close to someone then just don't shoot or back up. All players in the round would need to have full head gear also no barrel taps because that's usually when people start to panic and run into stuff like trees especially with over powered guns. During the round there could be another round going on for players that just want to play with normal guns. The actual over powered blaster round would welcome all of the following guns however non of them may be tank expanded.

- Plugged buzz bee big blasts
- Buzz bee mega missiles
-Buzz bee pulse strikes
-Titans
- SM5K's
- ST9K's
- Cobras ( must be RSCB'd or hopper-ed)
-Hydro cannons (must be RSCB'd or hopper-ed)
-Iron man super soakers
-etc.

It's an interesting idea...
Question:
1) How would maintain the 60' rule?
I know that it can be very hard to regulate that sort of thing during combat.
Also, what do you mean by 'full head gear'?
Seems like a fun idea though!

Thanks, I guess the 60' rule would be dependent on everyone's honesty / courtesy. When I said full head gear I meant a face mask or something.

This is an awful idea.

We have previously played what we like to call "Nerf Classic" rounds here in Pittsburgh, where Men are men, and women are men too sometimes. It's an arduously slow game, since nobody wants to pump or shoot. It leads to nothing but standoffs. (We play it with singled/speedloadered high powered blasters, but very few of those you actually mentioned). If you look in my planning thread for Clash of Steel: Necrohorse of Glory, You can see that people don't always have fun with that round...

And most of these blasters are banned because they are unsafe to play with no matter the distance.

Go out and play real nerf, and leave this garbage where it belongs.

Ya, only you can use the blaster that sits on your shelf all the time because its two strong.

Is there a strong cap on allowed guns? Could I go up to n strong?

I would go n+1 strong then.

Its not a huge cap but Its a significant number that involves some very highly sought after blasters that people pay a lot to get.

Why not just let n go to infinity, and take a sum to see if there is some sort of convergence? Seriously though, I just don't see this being a practical idea. While long-range blasters have a tactical place in most scenarios, stupidly-strong ones just add an element of unneeded danger to the game without adding much actual fun. The fact that you would need to require additional protection just goes to show that it would be unsafe.

Are we assuming the space of Nerf blasters is metrizable and satisfies LUB? What if there is an upper limit bound but no convergence?

I have no physics to offer, but I DO have a game idea for you.

Posted Image

• Three teams
• In the center is the objective, let’s say it is a flag for CTF
• no blasters in the colored no-man’s lands or the middle neutral no-man’s land. This means if you want to get that flag you take the risk of elimination AND dock your team a shooter: I always like trade-offs :P
• Additional rule: you can only go into your teams zones.
• Shooters: you can choose to target flag grabbers OR pick off the other team’s shooters.
• Unlimited instant-touch re-spawns at the designated areas.
• Could also be done with a Territories setup where all the Territory objectives are in the middle neutral no-man’s land.

The Difference:
-Guns shoot bullets that kill people
-Blasters shoot darts that tag people

I do not play with guns.

That's a cool idea, Ill have to try that at FLWH.

I am glad this thread has yielded something worthwhile. I like the sound of the game, but I could see field balance being an issue, unless you play in an open area since you have to play long range (or open area with mobstacles or something).

Just a quick word about power, though I don't want to re-rail after the promising de-rail... This is one of the many reasons I've been pushing for larger ammunition. Jobars, Cobras, Titans, Roto-Rockets, Hydrocannons, etc. are all well suited to rocket launching. We all like big, over-powered blasters, but micro darts are just too small for them.

I agree. Especially in a responsible, mature community (read: almost no nerf scene) like ours. A member, Sleepy, had a couplered Titan that was firing 1" darts. It only fired about as far as one of my crosbows, and he used it for a war (until it blew up, violently, but that was more of an issue of build quality).
