I'm 5' 7". So, like 5' 10" or so?Edible autopsy, how tall are you? Seriously, the ideal length is a few inches taller than you are, however, you really don't need all the power these things put out. I recomend just making it a comfortable length.

I think you're missing the point. I believe the point is that "The ideal length for anyone is already overkill for Nerf."
Fugly is a feature.

Kitty is right-- we don't need to optimize this, it's already powerful enough. Also, the bow length = height standard makes sense with a bow and arrow, which can have a fairly long draw distance. In the Aabow, the draw distance will always be less than half (usually closer to 1/3) of the total distance between the bow and the fully drawn string. This is just the geometry of the device. Since your non-drawing hand is normally used to hold onto the bow, this limits the draw to much less than that of a normal bow.
You could get around this limitation by putting a handle on the plunger, or putting the bow in the middle or behind the plunger. But, it would look and feel much less like a bow, and as we have been over many times, the design already allows for plenty of power for nerf purposes, even if your plunger / barrel / whatever is very inefficient
