You could always open up the right half, empty out the internals, then dremel off half of the screwports (I believe they are on tower-like things in the Recon) and drill holes where they used to be so you can get at the left side's screws. Both Recons would be held together by half the normal amount of screws, but it has so many unnecessary ones (like 5 in the handle) that it shouldn't matter.
EDIT: That thing needs a faux barrel that's really really wide (like maybe 2" or 2 1/4" PVC enveloping both barrels) and has a foregrip mounted on the bottom. That would also give you room for an AT2K integration, raising range, fire rate, comfort, and versatility. Plus it means you're not confined to indoor wars - they're just one strength after another.
