I figured I would chime in, as insignificant as it might seem. There was a similar instance regarding diddle-worthy guns at the last PA War. I mentioned it several times on the IRC, so some of you may already see where I plan on taking this.

After several hours of rain, I arrived pretty late to the last PAWar (The eighth, IIRC). The only gun I had brought was my Berserker. The only gun. We started off by playing a TDM round, making a couple hits at what I would call mid-range. Anywhere between 50-70 feet. At the time, no one argued over pain of the gun, so if it was leaving welts, I was mislead and no one bothered to let me know. It was at one point in the round where I took a shot at one of Ice's buddies and nailed him in the eye. Fortunately, he was wearing sunglasses, because they shattered. And when I mean shattered, I don't mean they cracked or created a "spiderweb" effect. There was a hole in the lens where the dart hit. Ice did not hesitate to ask me to put it back. As anyone would, I argued that I would regulate the amount of pumps I put in, but when I look at it through every angle, so much dishonesty can come from that. It was his war, and his rules go. Did I grit my teeth when I had to use a subpar Arrowstorm made at Split's NIB War? One that's been sitting in the trunk of my car for the past what, four months? Sure I did. I wasn't able to play competitively, no, but I still had fun with it.

And through and through, as a war host, you're your own little dictator. You obviously hosted the war for yourself, and as much as I would like to pretend that the Nerfing Totem Pole is all a facade, you can't back down from arguing a gun should be put away or not. There were several other players at the PA War who argued that I should be allowed to use the Berserker with a moderate amount of pumps, but no. It's the host who dictates. As much as I would like to consider myself an asset to the SE PA Nerf scene, I realize that 1) Not only do I sound like a total faggot, but 2) I'm talking about being a Nerf rock star, and I sound like a faggot.

Drama makes me sad :*(

Methinks you guys need to play some indoor nerf (with stock darts), pronto. A lot of these issues go away.

In relation to the power creep issue: MN will be limiting dart weights to 1bb at the December 5th war, as an experiment of sorts.

Merz: you have great war pictures, as usual. But where the hell is your ST9k?

Yeah merz, where the hell is your ST9k? I want to see that beauty on the field.

Hey...I got a crazy idea: how about you stop all that sigging stuff? It's not even my thread and it annoys me.

I will edit my post with my thoughts, which are quite strong, but for the people asking for the St9K is that I'm afraid the cold will hurt the air tank. I don't want to take any chances with this baby. You can see it from the summer war pics though.

A slightly problematic war overexposed and overdramaticized on the internet; should be forgotten, and hopefully we can move forward.

What's with this bullshit about us not playing by the teams?

During multi-team Zeke and Ryan teamed up to knock me out before anyone on Sniperman's team. During wingman the only reason I stayed alive was because I ran fucking laps around the field. The deathmatch that you said was awesome and lasted forever? Yea that was when we were on separate teams during a multi-team round. If we really wanted to ruin the game it would've ended with just us three, rather than you, bunstock, Ryan, and Zeke.

You complain about us being on the same team for the other rounds, but for 2 core CTF Snake basically said "Tommy Merz Kevy you're on my team, DemonLord you get those guys [referring to us]." Guess what' happened with TPB? Snake says "Same teams."

So in future wars, split us up, or give us less people. But really, you're just whining that we're better than you since you have access to the same guns as us. Ryan's diddle 3k might legitimately be better, but +bows beat out PAS, SM1500, and At2k (even with firefly turrets) no problem.

tl;dr: Not our fault.

I know I wasn't at the war, I just thought I'd tell you guys how we do it in Seattle when melee weapons are going to be used. Merz's part about how swords come in made me think that this suggestion might be useful.

The only time we really seriously use melee weapons or play where touch = kill is in zombie rounds, in which we restrict blasters to a 40 to 50 foot cap. Which isn't absolute, it basically just means that if it does anything more than sting a little, then we put it down. Maybe you guys could implement something like this for rounds where people use melee weapons.

Sorry for butting in, I just thought someone might find what we do useful for application at your events.

Heh, and here I was going to type a drama post. But I thought better of it

Close-hits. Not fun, and not safe. Totally unintentional on the most part, but that's not the point. The fact is that they were either using too strong of guns, or too close.

I agree, and it isn't really anyone's fault. When all you have is a +bow, you are going to use it, even if the person you are shooting is 30ft away. The solution to this problem is for people to use lower-powered sidearms or secondaries, and to use them during short-ranged encounters. I always have a holstered stock-spring NF on my person, and I always use it at ranges of 50 feet and under. I would really encourage people to adopt this strategy, since it works well, and is a lot safer.

I encourage everyone to post their experiences here and what they would like to see happen in the future.

I just want to express my dismay at the severe lack of playtime I saw during this war. It's like you guys ignored me the whole time. Now, granted, I didn't score any hits, but I ran around a lot and did my best to draw fire. So screw you elitist bastards... I'm going home.

What's with this bullshit about us not playing by the teams?

We never built alliances during the war. The only round we did was to get Sniperman at the round before lunch. The only reason for that was because he blasted Zeke and I at point blank ranges during that round. Plus the round was lasting forever and we just wanted it to end. It might have seemed that way because we were left at the end of the round pretty much everytime. That's not my fault, and that's not anyone's fault. It was obvious our equipment and our experience was the reason. Not because we teamed up on the other war participants and dominated everyone else other than ourselves so we can shoot each other at the end. I don't like to be maliciously attacked for something that is the outcome of Nerf arms race and not because we are pricks and deliberately try to hurt people. I got shot several times in vulnerable places from less than 80' with higher powered blasters. It happens to everyone.

We should institute a weight limit on the darts we use. We could do Slug darts, or single BB weighted darts, either way I don't care. It's obvious that us three have been around Nerf a lot longer than all the war participants combined. We've participated in over 20 wars at sometime this year. With the experience comes to better modifications and dart making, basically bringing them to the level where this happens.

It seems like the 3k was the blaster that pissed everyone off. Mainly because it is unstoppable. Weight restrictions will make it safer but it's still going to be an awesome blaster on the field. I post all my creations and write-ups on Nerfhaven. I encourage people to make awesome blasters and I want them to. If I wanted to be a power whore I'd just keep all my mods a secret. Safety is the only concern I see here. We change darts, everything is solved. diddle guns lose 30-40 feet in range.

Again, Brian did a terrible job of hosting this war. No one ever asked me to put down a certain blaster, or use something else. If it was such a problem, then something should have been said before it gets out of hand, like this. It would be a much easier solution if we discussed this at the war instead of posting giant walls of text over the internet.

All the whining and complaining can go somewhere else. This is not the place to do this. We have a private forum for the very reason of discussing these issues.

I'm asking Talio to please close this topic. We have our own forum for the purpose of disussing things of this nature. I think Brian is out of line posting this into the public and making U3 look like huge assholes. This is our matter and we can handle it accordingly. I appreciate people putting in their input but the bottom line is they weren't at the war and they don't know what went down.

EDIT: Vacc, you took that statement out of context. I wasn't implying we shouldn't shoot each other inside 80'. But when you're using a blaster that has an effective range of 130' at close ranges, it's not going to make people happy and people will get hurt.

Beaver, it seems we are just ahead of the curve. I noticed alot of really terrible things when I was in Chicago, but I also noticed alot of wonderful Nerfing.

People seem to be forgetting that Nerf isn't about making killer clans, or raping face with certain guns, or making guns that shoot insane distances. Its about FUCKING FUN! Do the Nerf commercials of anyone's youth show a group kids holding awesome weaponry, and beating up the kids with less powerful guns? Sure, skill is a big part in Nerf, but honestly, people can't ignore the fact that guns do help. I'm not gonna lie, I have alot more fun when I have a gun that is shooting about the same as other peoples.

But remember, WE ARE PLAYING WITH FUCKING TOYS! The reason I picked up Nerf in the first place was because I can go to a war, meet people, play some rounds, and have fun. I don't feel guilty, I don't feel like I need to defend anything, and I don't need to win. Just have fucking fun. And I think alot of people have lost sight of that.

I went to one of Koree's indoor wars, and you know what? Most fun Nerfing I have ever had. We played with stock guns, rounds had no clear winner, because we just ran around a gym. Sure, I lost about 20 dollars worth of stock darts, and sure I got a few scrapes (and nasty rug burn) but... again, I had fun.

Nerf is about fun. Its obvious people didn't have fun. As senior members, Zeke and Ryan, its your job to keep people coming back. Sam. He's been Nerfing for a while. He hosts some wars, and he makes sure people have fun. He's not about winning, he'll play on the underdog's team, and he won't team up with the best players just to win.

I mentioned good things in Chicago, and I want to see this everywhere. Some kid brought HIS DAD! He played along side his son. Sorry U3, but seeing that sort of awesome parenting beats a diddle clan any day. Tell me if he comes back. I'd be interested to see how they took to the hobby.

Again guys, its about fun, and senior members, its your job to make sure people have fun.

HAVE FUCKING FUN! But not at the expense of others.

Yo Julian, I appreciate your input, Iíll let you finish, but you weren't at this war, and so you can't get an unbiased account of what happened. Post on the Ning sure, but this thread is a shitfest.

Yo Zorn, I really didn't need to be at the war. I understand the whole unbias thing, but I noticed alot of fucked up shit last time I Nerfed with you guys. There's alot of shit that either needs to change, or, honestly, we don't want you guys in MN. Its getting to that point, and I really hate to say it. I've been shooting some messages back and forth to Zach, and he sees the same thing.

Instead of taking like men, you argue. What ever happened to a good old fashioned apology? If you are right, it will work itself out. But instead, you, Kelvin, Zeke, and Ryan have bickered like little kids. I know its hard to hear that maybe your clan isn't as welcome as you thought it would be, but it certainly needs to be said.

Guys, you are older. Grow the fuck up.

When nerfing within 80' of each other becomes a problem, stop nerfing.
