First of all I would like to know a few things about modding a big bad bow.

I heard that nightfinder springs fit in nicely but I did not know what to add to it. Should I add the spring? Will it fit? Do I put both springs in (BBB and NF)?

I am going to couple it with a CPVC 1/2 coupler. What should I use to keep it in? I have hotglue, gorilla glue (worked nicely with my couplered titan), krazy glue (but not much left) what should I use?

I was just going to put interchangeable barrels but I wanted to know if there is a good breech I could make with cpvc or not? It does not have to accept clips but whatever you guys have.

If I think of anything else than I will post.

Thanks!

1. A nf spring is too small. Use a recon or ls.

2. Use a PVC coupler, it will be easier to attach to the gun.

The yellow balls are also slightly smaller in diameter than the green ones.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when I was doing my Big Bad Bow my Longshot spring did not fit inside the BBB's plunger tube diameter wise. I would use a Recon spring.

I used hot glue for the coupler. You glue it inside the orange piece that the barrel is attached to (CPVC won't fit through the stock barrel without sanding however) and hot glue all around the coupler to stop air from getting caught around the coupler.

A good breech involves brass but I am not sure about a CPVC breech. You could do your interchangeable barrels or a speed loader.

Aw man I really hoped the nf would work because $20 from the recon just for the spring and the rest is useless than (from the recon) I had an extra NF so yeah but oh well.

Do I need to reinforce anything or not? IF so what do I reinforce? What do I reinforce with?

Nitefinder will work. Just stretch it until it is as long as the BBB spring.

You could take a look at all of the mods in the mod directory to help answer these questions. There is the Angel Bow mod which will show you how to do the breech and it also uses a deodorant container for a clip. As for reinforcing, you should reinforce the plunger rod and catch with epoxy putty. Good Luck with your mod.

What you should do is pop the stretched out NF spring in with the BBB spring and Gorilla glue the CPVC coupler on then put hot glue around the coupler to reinforce the Gorilla glue. Also be sure to put a needle or something at the back of the coupler so your dart wont be sucked back into the plunger tube.

You shuld use steel enriched epoxy to reinforce the plunger head, rod, catch plate, and back of the trigger. Also put a bit of foam on the front of the plunger head. If you have any other questions you should check the modification directory. I'd recomend doing an Angel Bow or Zorn Lemma's BBB overhaul. If you have an NF then you should slap that on the bottom where the front handle should go. BBB's are awsome and I love mine. Good luck with the mod.

Ignore what others have said, stretching any spring is bad in the long run. A NF spring will work just fine.

And putting the CPVC coupler inside the barrel part can wreck how the plunger head stays on the plunger rod.
Instead get a 3/4" to 1/2" CPVC coupler, cut the stock barrel so that the coupler fits over it and hot glue it on.

The thing about CPVC is that it is cheaper, simpler and with a speedloader you can get similar ROF to a breech.

The BBB doesn't really need ANY reinforcement. Even with minimal reinforcement and 1+1/2 Ace #49 springs in two of my BBB's I haven't seen signs of stress after THREE months.
With a stock spring and a NF spring the thing will not be compromised.

Also; be sure to lube it.

1&1/2 Ace 49 springs work very well. I don't think you can use a BBB spring and a NF spring, as they have very similar diameters. As for gluing the coupler, I used a little crazy glue and then added hot glue.

No, the NF spring fits inside the BBB spring easily.

- Ok so I got some people telling me to use NF spring and some not, some say stretch it and some go with ace hardware spring.
- Also some say use epoxy and some say nothing is needed.
- Some prefer breeches and some just plain old speedloaders.
- Wow lots of decisions.

Here are my decisions though! Ok for now I think I will plan on putting in the nf spring in not stretched (first I dont know how to 'stretch it') and I think that will do. I also will stick with speed loaders but what length is far enough and what is to far. I think I was going to use two 1' barrels but maby if I can get just the distance and accurate than maby two 6" ones? I want to lube it but with what like WD-40 or somthing? What product exact name and places to buy but what is a good reinforcing epoxy (I guess it is called) and how much should I get because I guess I could use it for more than this project too so I think thats my decision. The little white round thing behind the long AR is that needed or just take it out?? or cut it or what?

I will probably do something with a clip to another BBB if or when I get one.

If I could have some pictures guys that would help too.

Thanks for the help guys!

EDIT: This is for you atomatron! I wish I could do this but I dont have an airtek 2000! atomatrons mod! One more question is that if I do paint this gun or any nerf gun what paints and should I use a primer or a overcoat or somthing? I need to know brands and spacifics!

1. If you have more than one NF spring, use one and a half NF springs.
2. DO NOT USE WD-40 AS A LUBE. It will eat through plastic. Use silicon Lube, I'm pretty sure you can buy at any hardware store lowes, etc.
3. I would suggest a barrel length of around 9 inches. 1 ft. is a bit too long.

Stretching the NF spring will work. As long as the spring after stretching has a bout the same diameter as the BBB, the BBB spring will support and reinforce it, acting as rest, so the stretched spring won't be damaged or lose power.

Ok you may say I am stupid but how do you stretch them (springs)? Not by hand obvioulsy.

I need to know if painting guns what paint, primer, and clear coat to use? I have heard of Krylon paint but I am not sure if somebody could get me a link that would be great!

What is the exact name of the lube?

Kinda off topic: I saw some amazing goop at Home Depot should I get some? The kind for plastics? What is it, is it just a thing to keep stuff airtight or is it like glue?

Actually, yes, by hand.
Don't paint it unless you know exactly what you're doing. One of my first paintjobs was on a BBB, and it got messed up because the paint made the plastic parts not work well together. Don't paint it.

You know, ALL of these questions you have can be answered with a very small amount of research.

For example: Type "Lubricant" into the search engine. The 8th result is: Plastic Safe Lubricants

Here is the Modification Directory . One of the best ways to figure out a direction for your mod is to look at what others have done before you. You will also LEARN a lot more about the process by reading about others failures and accomplishments.

Don't expect to be hand fed information that you could easily find yourself.

6" barrels should work very well for a speed loader. I usually use o-ring lubricant for lubing. It doesn't have to be any particular brand.
