I was thinking of trying that. What I might end up doing is sawing the tube open then supergluing the thing together. Might try the heated thing first though. Also got to brass up the barrel of the thing too. What springs are recommended for it and where is the best place to buy them?

A spring from a RFDG works well. You can buy RFDGs at Cabela's or BassPro shops.

If you do this, be sure to leave about 1/2" of the stock barrel at the front (use a shorter piece of nested brass). This prevents jams and makes it shoot farther than a longer piece. You may see in my write-up that I used a longer piece and I got shitty results with jamming and range. I just yesterday switched it out for a shorter piece. Now my raider, with modified streamlines, hits 50 to 60 ACCURATELY. Which is a pretty awesome for a raider. Unmodified darts go farther but have shitty accuracy. Oh, and this is with a RFSG spring.

I’m pretty sure it uses a light torsion spring to rotate. The two black “darts” are one end of the spring that rotates the mechanism as the darts are fired.

Actually it uses the same spring mechanism as a auto return tape measurer (disregard post when this is what you mean by torsion spring), when I pulled the drum apart en removed the orange part that goes in the gun, I accidently pulled the spring out and had to remove the (glued) black roller thing to reassemble it, made me sweat buckets........

Anywho, did you take pictures? I'd sure like to know what that looks like, should I accidentally screw my drum mag over...

Compression spring is the word you are thinking of. Tension springs are the ones you have in tech target, dart tag blaster, and maverick triggers. And, yes, torsion springs are the wind up ones.

"Torsion spring" is incorrect, regardless. The right terminolgy is "constant force" spring. Sometimes the term "clockwork" is used, although it's not really the only kind of spring ever used to power clocks.
