This mod originally conceived by Veginator.

The Pullback Shotty
The PAS is a great gun, most of us can agree. After all it is a freaking shotgun! However, I personally enjoy pullback guns like the crossbow and most sidearms. This mod converts the Pump Action shotgun to a Pull Action Shotgun. For some, it may also allow more spring additions because it provides a more convenient way of priming.

Materials:
+ PAS
+ PVC cement
+ 1 foot of 1/2 inch CPVC
+ 1/2inch CPVC Tee Coupler
+ 10/24" x 3/4" bolt
+ 10/24 Hex nut
Optional:
+ 1/4" x 1" Aluminum bar (minimum of 1 foot)
+ 6/32 x 3/8" screws
+ 6/32" taping bit

The Priming Rod

Posted Image
Sand down the rear of the priming rod until your cuts from step 2 can fit over it.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Mark and cut your CPVC to fit over the rear of the priming rod.

Posted Image
It should slide completely over the rear of the priming rod.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Drill a hole for the 10/24" bolt to fit through and attach the Nut on the other side and tighten.
Note: Do not over tighten. High tension results in stress on the CPVC and may result in fractures.

Posted Image
Mark the Stock with a line parallel to the priming slide where the stock grip would slide.
(I messed up the first time)

The Shell

Posted Image
Posted Image
Cut the Stock following the guides

Posted Image
Sand a hole in the rear so the CPVC can come out.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Mark and cut where you want the plunger rod to stop according to your hand size.

Posted Image
PVC Cement the Coupler to the CPVC so it is vertical.

Mark and cut a 6 3/4" piece of 1/4 x 1" piece of Aluminum

Posted Image
Drill 3, 5/32" holes on each side of the stock and Aluminum.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Using the taping bit, thread and screw in 6, 6/32" screws into the Aluminum, thus closing the stock.

Screw the gun together and your done.

Ranges: (With stock Spring and BBB)
93
96
101
90
97

This new configuration also provides gateways for many integrations through utilization of the priming slide.

Doesn't the plunger mass affect ranges? Other then that nice job. It looks badass this way.

You mean Jesus doesn't get you an extra 20 feet?
I blame insufficient praising of his name. If you don't cross yourself and point to the sky after every minor achievment how is a higher power supposed to know that you are pleased with his mad sacred game?-VACC

I feel that the pump action part about this gun is not only fun to do but is faster than a pull back gun. Also this modification would add a lot of weight to the plunger and slow the movement. I have to say I wouldn't do this myself. Other than it it is very creative...

Would that pinch your thumb? Seems cool, but I prefer the pump action. This does eliminate the equivalent of a bolt sled (the thing connected to the handle that pushes back the plunger rod, and needs to be re-enforced for spring additions).

This is pretty cool, I would think that the added weight of the CPVC would decrease ranges but you stated that it didn't.

This sort of mod needs to be reworked for the BBB...

Precisely. The theory of added mass decreases range is a futile statement in this application. This much CPVC weighs merely ounces. With the Spring power behind even the Stock Spring, it had no effect on ranges. Even if it did, with the fluxuation of range in Nerf guns being so sporadic, a subtraction of five feet (the maximum range loss a heavy plunger rod made of steel would take) would not make a difference in a war, if you attend them.

Would that pinch your thumb?

Mark and cut where you want the plunger rod to stop according to your hand size.

I meant with the sliding action. Similar to how those kids cut their face open with the Recon.

Oh, no. Thats what the handle is for. To keep your hand off of the priming rod.

I like it for the cleanliness, but I don't think the Pump Action should be taken from the PAS. Most people use RSCBs with their PAS', do you? And if you do, is it any odder to reload (that tilt thing)?

Blue: No, Veginator actually used a K9 Special breach with his and it worked well.

If you add a stock it will look pretty similar to a + bow. I would think that pump action would be much faster than a priming handle because you can have one hand to prime and the other to pull the trigger, while with the priming rod you have to reposition to prime it.

The yellow balls are also slightly smaller in diameter than the green ones.

It all ways out in the end though. Most people have to reposition to prime the grip because of the amount of springs in their anyway, so past a certain point of power, a pullback is more useful. It's mostly personal preference though.

I like it. I think it takes unnesasary tension of the plunger rod.
And I would Know both of my PAS's plunger rods broke.
All in all nice work.

Just Some Bob: Yes I did use the same taping bit used in the +bow construction. Thank you for catching that and I edited the write-up. Polycarbonate is also a better alternative. Yes I have both, yet for some reason I was compelled to use Aluminum. Perhaps a caffeine rush from an energy supplement compels me toward shiny mediums.

I did this a wile back, back, but it was an ice-style string/wire mod. If I ever get A new pas, I will do this.

I'm half and half about this modification. It's sorta like singled longshots, and the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

However, if your catch breaks in your PAS, this is an extremely useful write up and modification, so I will definitely give you kudos for that.

In the end, good job I suppose. Keep it up.

Like a bunch of people said it kind of takes the pump action out of the pump action shotgun.

It is very creative though, and 100% unique.

The only problem I could see about this is the weight of the CPVC plunger rod losing range in your gun but other people have said that and you said that it doesn't, so......

How does this take stress off of the catch? Do you mean the internal priming bar?

I like it. That priming bar and it's tendency to break has been pissing me off. I modded a PAS for a friend and he hasn't taken the best care of it. I may just try this except substitute an aluminum rod instead of cpvc. Kudos for figuring a way around that problem.

Another option with this mod is adding a stock. In the picture of Veginator's, you can see that he has a stock added on. It adds a nice feel but I just haven't gotten around to cutting more aluminum.
