I'm like 90% sure that you got the size of the cpvc addition wrong. Because I just tried 3/4 of an inch and it was way to long. I ended up cutting it down to approx 1/4".

Not sure why I missed this before, but yes, to some degree. Last week I actually used a piece of 1-1/4" Brass sink tailpipe (1-1/4 inch OD) as a replacement plunger tube for a Lanard Firstshot. I used a 1-1/4" rubber washer, and it works quite well. I was very happy with the results of 50-60 feet from a 3" cpvc barrel.

Two things: Would a nightfinder spring work?, and Would vaseline (don't know if I spelled that right) be a good alternative to silicon lube?
