Ok I've been browsing the forums for like 4 months waiting for my account to verified and I realized that there really aren't that many "big" wars on the west coast and I thought well I love nerf and since I'm not so original with my mods creating something that people did'nt just see as a copy of someone else's. Anyways I've got the ideal location because my family owns an acre of land and so do each of my neighbors and luckily they're nice people and will most likely let us use their land also. Of course I don't have all of it set up yet, but I do know that the date will be Summer 2009, before it gets more specific than that I need to know if it will be worth it, as in around how many can I expect to be coming. Also if it does turn out that enough people are coming then I'll need some help from others who have organized wars in the past this being my first time.

This is the area if I have 20 people or less

I will use this area with permission from my neighbors if i get over 20 people to come

Really? A quick browse of the 2008 Nerf War Schedule reveals that there were at least 9 wars in California this year alone. Organizing wars this far in advance is generally considered futile. My suggestion is that you attend some other NIC-organized wars first before you attempt to host one yourself.

There's a thread about one coming up in December.

But if your more up north, I think that nerfer9 is hosting a war up there pretty soon.
^^^^oops I guess it already happened.

Ok those were all in California and only one was in the summer I'm adding another in northern Oregon so that people like myself that can't 1. Go on vacation in the middle of the year and/or 2. Drive down to Southern California. I'm sorry for my oversight but I still think that this war can only be a bonus.

EDIT:raw shrimp posted while I was posting so I missed his post about nerfer9's war he had 14 people signed up for his war (I'm not sure how many came), now not to be dissin on nerfer9's war because I'm sure everyone had a great time but I'm planning on more like 20+ people if i can get that many then it will definitely be a repeat war also since I and my neighbors own the land I don't have to worry about a permit so cost will be little to nothing. So please people if you're planning on discouraging me from having this war stop because it wont work.

I knew something was up by the color of those trees...California's beautiful, but we're not blessed with that kind of color.

Don't take what people are saying personally here. You're actually pretty lucky. Most people would've acted like eight-year-olds and flamed you by now. They're not trying to DISCOURAGE you from hosting the war. They're trying to discourage you from posting a planning thread nine months in advance. The largest war So Cal had this year (which had 33 participants, and only 3 of my 15 clanmates knew it was happening, so in retrospect our attendance was "down") was planned only a month and a half in advance, and So Cal's annual summer bash is planned 2-3 months in advance. Same goes for the East Coast's big summer war. Nine months? Half the people you get signed up to come might not even be active in the hobby anymore by that time.

Summer of 2009? Read THIS, and keep your eyes open in the next week or so for more updates on the subject of Season of Foam, both here and on the aforementioned website. If you want us to make a stop there, drum up a decent sized group of locals in your area first. Don't concentrate on the forums to get people to come; work on your friends in the neighborhood first, and things will grow from there.

Good luck!

SIDE NOTE:
You might want to find a place to play that has a little more cover if you're planning on large numbers of people coming...wars tend to get lame REALLY fast when everyone's just standing on two sides of an open field pointing guns at each other. Parks with lots of trees, junglegyms, other play equipment, benches, picnic tables, etc. work well. Around here, we tend to play at elementary schools around the buildings (especially when there are several modular buildings close together, which makes for great urban play areas, without the dart loss wooded areas tend to have.)

I'm in. I'm down in Salem, but would be fine driving up there, too. Do you know the other guys from St. Helens? If not, look them up, and certainly get yourself posted on Langley's map. We may want to organize something a little less ambitious somewhat sooner, though. I'm all for a big war this summer, but maybe more of a meet and greet type outing next month or something?

OK I'm kinda mixed up right now and i got a lot going on so i didn't word my last posts very well I pretty much wanted to let people know this was happening but I should have said that I'd set up a sign up closer to the war anyways now that I've got that cleared up I'd like to say something about there like to say something about there being no barriers anywhere If you look in the first picture which is most likely where it will be there is a big green building in the back that is my shop it has tons of stuff in it that could be put outside as barriers so I'm not considering that a problem.

"Rakeon"(I'm not going to call you by your real name) remember to capitalize your "I's".( :P I'd tell you at school,But this is more fun)

But yes, It would be in Oregon. St. Helens to be exact. But Rakeon, Your house would be the best place.
Why don't we do it at McCormic Park? And glad to see you got activated.

Also, People who aren't in Oregon, Yes, There is wars in Cali. But that isn't as close as it sounds. And we can't just drive down there on a random will. I'll work with everyone else from Oregon to set up one. I think My friend Rakeon has a good basic Idea. So futile? Not really Groove. Now don't get me wrong I was considering going to APOC. But It's a little to far just to drive down to Cali.
