Older games:

RoboWarz
ZZT

RoboWarz was an ancient game where you program digital robots that fight with eachother in an arena.
ZZT was another ancient game where you can make your own games and play other people's games.

Not so old games:

Total Annihilation
Age of Empires II

I'm a huge fan of point and click adventure games from the early days of lucas arts.

The Sam and Max Series
Maniac Mansion
Day of the Tentacle
Monkey Island 1-3

and the best of them all, Grim Fandango.

I miss the irreverent humor in games these days.

Man, it got so frustrating playing those games (and the Indiana Jones game(s)), though I never played Monkey Island. Day of the tentacle probably pissed me off the most (though Sam and Max are a close contender) because there was no way to figure out what to do. I just ended up randomly using every object I had on everything in the game until something worked with a large spool of yarn!!!

Anyway, the first games I played were on the Commodore 64 (oh yeah, 8 bit goodness). My favorite games were:

Spelunker by Broderbund (one of the most difficult games I have every played...go ahead, download a rom for it, see if you can beat it without cheating, the hero is about as strong as a a six-year old with hemophilia and bones made of paper mache).

Jet Boot Jack & Knucker Hole - Absolutely amazing!

And Lode Runner's Rescue - Lode Runner's daughter saves the day. This game takes a while to beat!

Lets see here...

One Must Fall 2197 and One must Fall: Battlegrounds (this game still kicks the ass of everything)

Command and conquer series, excluding the suck-fest of generals

City of heroes/City of villains (4 years old, still better than any MMO)

Outright Favorite of them all? Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun and City of villains

Oh my god MS DOS scripted games. I had found a seven disk long floppy series called The Golden Ark. I had never been able to install it. I don't have it any more because my grandmother moved and the shit in the basement stayed there. If I had it I would post some pics and see if any one remembered it.

Mine had to be Knights of Krynn. Probably don't know it, but it was a D&D by TSR back when the graphics were 8bit and it was majority text. Gotta love text games.

Dude...you just became my hero. I have never found anyone else that plays that game. I used to play that for hours on end. I was always Arm. I hated the Core commander, and the Arm commander was so awesome. Great game.

The Seven Cities of Gold.

We will never, ever have a game where you can invade America as a gold-hungry Spanish conquistador ever again.

Oh, and Captain Slug, high-five on X:com, UFO defense. Awesome game.

I'd have to agree with you on Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2. I also like lego racers and EA NHL 2003
The first time I made stefans I made them without weights.

Those NHL games are awesome. I played 99 for 5 years till I bought 2004, and I still play that.
Did you get Mysteries of the Sith with Dark Forces 2, I almost like that better.

Well, an old computer game... I think plain, generic, classic pinball. ^^

Duke Nukem, MDK, and all of the Command & Conquer games (the best RTS series I have ever played). I started playing those games when I was 4, and I beat the C&C Red Alert Campaign when I was 5 or 6. Duke Nukem kicked ass, and MDK is still one of the most enjoyable games I've played. I loved the powerups in that game (I.e., the World's Most Interesting Bomb).

I still hope Majesty the Fantasy Sim Kingdom is ported for newer Macs. Awesome game with a unique fighting style; Strategy, but you can't control the units, only reward them for tasks.
