1) Yes. The part that is most vulnerable to breaking is the base of the stock air tank, particularly around the rim. That is where more than half of my SM1500's eventually failed. With this modification, that is covered in epoxy and it hasn't broken on me, despite being exposes to even higher pressure over a longer period of time than normal.

2) Yes, it holds up just fine. Sudden inflation isn't much of a problem for this design.

3) I first did a about 1/3" hole, but that resulted in too much power (probably banned at most wars) so I plugged it with epoxy putty and then drilled a 1/8" hole which seems much more reasonable.

What the fuck and a half. I remember seeing this, but must not have realized the ridiculousness of it. I'd probably ban this along with doomsayers at small wars, meaning I'd put it up there on the same scale as it. Very nice work.

I'm kinda confused where you epoxied on the stock air tank. Was what you epoxied inside the tank on the sealing washer thingy I was talking about earlier? Oh, and thank you for your help.

I will probably do this with a 2k, but not with the stock. I think that if I do everything with adding the elbow, and the ball valve, except replace the ball valve with a PVC end cap, the range will go through the roof. Nice alternative to the very stupid looking goo gauge mod.

It's just screaming to be rearloading...

I seen a movie about that once.

By doing that you will only increase the amount of air in the tank, not the PSI. The only way to get you're ranges noticably(sp?) better would be to add a tighter and longer barrel.

Intense mod by the way, I might try this out but pull it off in a different way.

@MSDGS/Rokor: Just adding the reducing tee and then putting an endcap on it would be a tank expansion and with the same pressure as before (takes more pumps) you would get better ranges (with a long enough barrel). If there is more air in the tank, you will get better ranges.

@Tantumball: The epoxying I did is on the outside of the tank, along where the tank meets the PVC "sleeve" and a little more around the base of the stock air tank for good measure. I wish I had pictures for you on this, but I don't even have this blaster with me. Maybe tomorrow before dinner I can get some basic pictures/illustrations to help you out.

@Splitlip: Thanks. This is one of my favorite guns ever. It's a little large, but not too large if you're at all athletic. The power and ROF are about as much as you'd ever need in a primary.

I would allow it at a war. I just wouldn't allow the air compressor. You can start pumping when the round begins.

Hahahaha! Awesome idea.

I've always liked this design, though with the scarcity of these blasters, I've been forced to forgo the replication.

Well, that's fine, as long as the round lasts at least thirty minutes. Anything shorter than that and it wouldn't be worth it.

But even without the air stock filled, it's a bit more comfy and easier to aim.

You know, you could modify this design slightly by having another ball valve on the pump end, and an extra hose with a check valve between the pump and primary tank. That way, you can bypass the secondary tank when you are low on air. You could begin the round and pump up the primary tank, have your shot ready, and in between shots just pump up the secondary tank. Think about how big your biceps will be after a few wars!

There's absolutely no need for that. All I have to do now is open the ball valve and pump and then close it and pump five times for a shot.

It is taxing on the arms, but not a ton on the biceps.
