I really hope that it is cocking by hand, but even if it is running around with a long belt of darts would be annoying, and could cause breakage.

But if it came down to it, I'd rather have it hand-cocked, just so it would be possible to modify it.

Either way, I want it.

Looks as if it is a solid link of 25 barrels on a belt. I don't know if you can attach the belts together at all.

From what I can tell, it looks like the belt is comprised of individual shells that have 2 clamps on them which then clamp onto the next shell. This means you can clamp together as many shells as you have. We'll see!

Posted Image

Looking at the bigger picture, maybe it is a belt (underneath the shells). It's too hard to tell really.

THe reason we know more about this gun than we did about the Recon this early is because that Hasbro had there toy fair this weekend and the Recon never had a toy fair to be shown at. If it did we would have known a lot more.

Hey, I just want a nerf gun I can mount on a steadycam harness so I can take down those damn Alien costume guys that show up to all the comic cons. Is that so wrong?

Posted Image

Honestly, I thought it looked more like a SAW than a Smartgun when I first saw it. I love the Alien movies, but this barely resembles a Smartgun. Although I do like your Idea of using a steadycam harness.

A SAW? To me it looks more like a M60E4. Paint that sexy beast black, with a hint of orange so cops won't go crazy, wear a scary mask-or just your ugly face, IF you have one unlike me- bring to your friend's house and run in yelling random words that don't make sense.

Thanks for posting the same pic that I did, Angel, and then pointing out the LS handle (just like I did)...

Anyways, here's a somewhat obvious factoid gleaned from those pictures: the length of the chains.

Now, of course, all of the announcements specifically state 25-link chains. But...

In the man-cleavage picture, there are two stretched out chains. The one that is further from the camera has 26 links in view, with the 26th going off-camera (so there is a possibility that it is even longer). The chain that is closer to the camera is partially obscured by the tripod, but contains at least 26 links; however, I believe that there is one link behind the the tripod (making it 27 links long).

In the cleavage-less pic that Angel and I posted, there is another stretched-out chain. I count 24 full links on camera, with another 2 partially on-camera (and the possibility of more off-camera).

Also, in both pictures, there is a coiled-up chain (actually, there are two in the cleavage-less pic). In the cleavage-less pic, in particular, the coiled chain that is closer to the camera is pretty much folded right back over itself. Also, whatever is keeping the links/shells together is black.

This black material seems pretty flexible. Not only can it fold in half, it seems that it can also flex (at least slightly) the "other way" (see how the stretched-out chains aren't exactly straight: they're wavy). I'm willing to bet that it's some kind of fabric rather than plastic.

So, I have conflicting tendencies. Since I count more than 25 links in the stretched-out chains, I tend to think you can remove and add links. But, on the other hand, the fabric seems like it's in there fairly permanently.

So...maybe Hasbro just can't count.

And if some one posts that sci-fi picture again... :D *twitches*

The ends of the chain do not look to be casings but some different type of feeder bolt. The end that's under the tripod has a different end to it than the ones that carry the darts. So still 25 darts with two endcap pieces.

I have been pretty focused on reading this thread as I am very excited about seeing the new gun and had never seen you post photos here or mention on the Longshot handle. I just went over the entire thread and have not seen that photo posted before. Maybe you could link me to this imaginary post you made, where I copied everything you did.

And about the cleavage thing. It is not cleavage on a guy, those are Pecs!

So I am imagining that once the chain goes through it coils up in that little box.

Not picking sides or anything, but...

Anyway, I'm sure 6 D batteries can do quite a lot in terms of pulling back a plunger tube, but I wonder how fast.
How many batteries does it take to power a typical AEG?

Post #191 (can't remember how to get the link):

Found another picture here; no man-cleavage this time!

That definitely looks like an LS bolt handle on there.

PS: So, I guess no one actually went to the show-off thingamajig?

I didn't post the actual picture, but a link to a site with the picture.

Sorry if I offended you, Angel; and I wasn't implying that you copied but, rather, that you repeated the info. It's obvious that you just missed my post.

Edit: Penguin beat me to it.

Usually it's a set of rechargeable lithium batteries that are bundled together.

My mini airsoft AEGs are powered by 4 AA batteries.

I cannot imagine how much power you can pull from 6 D batteries.

To compare-- my roommate's travel guitar amp is powered by 4 D batteries and that is supposed to last over 2 years.

So does the vulcan double as a guitar amp or what?

It may use more power, an rf20 uses a whole lot of pressure to pull the plunger back and that is most likely what we are dealing with here so the batteries may only last for like a couple of weeks (about 500 shots)

All this speculation is making me sick to my stomach.
Belt-fed weapons work like this, there is a box with a belt of shells and it is fed through the gun, spent shells or in this case belt will come out the other side. If you see the pictures in the above posts you'll see a dart has already left the barrel and empty belt is coming out of the gun.

It is a ludachris idea for a weapon to expel its spent shells into a box.
Though the idea has been used before in WW2 they had a bag attached to the shell ejection port.

Who cares about the power of the gun, It is great too see that nerf has advanced so much from the the times of the old nerf basketball sets.

Angry that there are batteries involved?
Just be happy that we have a belt fed automatic nerf blaster that is about to rock our world.

P.S this post was not meant to harm or offend anyone.

Typical AEGs (Non Minis) use anything from 7.2, 8.4 (common), 9.6 (Next most common), and 10.8 (rare). The D batteries may just be for working time. A homemade battery pag for your back is possible. I had one for long use times on cordless drills.

You forgot 12v battery packs. Most AEGs aren't big enough, but some are. It would be easy to add one of those to the vulcan.

I disagree. I paid $15 for my mini airsoft AEGs and they perform great for the price.

I don't feel that it's accurate to compare the quality of nerf guns to an entirely different line of products.

I'm dropping the AEG because you obviously don't know enough about it to make a good argument. There is an image of the standing chain holding up the box in the cleavage picture. Those would be good to examine.

So that this post is constructive, here are sections of the chain from various images-

In the last image there is a good image of the end feed poles on the belt. On the far right.

The funny thing about speculation is that some of you twits are giving up on the thing based solely on what you assume it to be by some photo-op shots and man-cleavage. The airsoft-esque assumptions are also a hoot to look at just by the absurdity of thinking that Hasbro has no originality so as to basically attempt to make an airsoft AEG into a Nerf weapon. I'm almost WISHING it's a motor powered Gyrostrike mutant that shoots darts.

joeyalgr444 (original poster) was right... it's irritating to see, after all the wishing and other threads of the past, Hasbro finally evolve their Nerf blaster line to include a belt-fed, fully automatic, heavy-weapon looking Nerf blaster, only to have unappreciative peckerheads thrash it before even getting to touch one.

I don't know if VACC will hammer this shut, but carry on if you must. Maybe we'll keep it open on virtue that it's the only thread that has such vaginal commentaries. Myself included.
