Here's a video review of the Toy Fair, with some quick footage of the Vulcan being fired at American Gladiator, Titan !

http://www.nontoxicr...wordpress/?p=56

The Vulcan fires darts slower than the Magstrike (I would guess about 1/3 of Magstrike speed).

Judging from the sound the Vulcan is making, I'll bet that it operates on the same principles as an airsoft gun.

Looks good !

I agree.
It certainly sounds like some serious spring action; I use the term 'spring' lightly though.

Hmm. The Vulcan doesn't seem to have a quick ROF. Faster than most other nerf guns but not as much as the Magstrike. It's nerfing the gun and that makes it very nerfy.

It sounded almost like an AEG firing, albeit at a much slower rate...interesting.
Can't wait to see it close up.

I actually like a slower full auto speed, maybe not that slow though. If it's similar to an airsoft gun, the rof should decrease when the batteries are lower, so lets hope the thing just needs new batteries there.

I like a someone slow speed because you can still spray darts everywhere and your ammo won't run out after a couple of seconds like a magstrike or rf20.

Remember guys, Hasbro did say we should add our own motors and stuff!

No they didn't. This is how rumors start. When slightly retarded individuals misread blogs.

Def. picking one of these up no matter what. I'll put it in my truck and do drive-bys through the neighborhood.

I can certainly see myself trying to connect more then one belt together and also trying to hook a huge ass battery up to it to help move a bigger plunger. I would say there is a gear box as well, so maybe some help from the airsofters would be inline. OMGWTFBBQ NERF PLUS AIRSOFT IS A NO GO AHHHHH!

But yeah, looks pretty cool. I predict it getting 30 feet stock.

I KNEW it was an AEG. I asume lower ROF is because of a stronger spring.

W00tness! Ultra ranges baby!!! *ahem* of course, there could be an inefficient plunger or complicated air restriction or whatnot.

I'm just going to throw this out there without knowing a lot about the subject:
I've seen a video where you can increase the rof on a mini aeg by hooking up a 9v battery instead of 4 AAs.
If the stock rof of the vulcan discourages you, perhaps you can hook up some stronger battery to 'overclock' the motor, resulting in a higher rof.

Welcome to 14 days and 26 pages ago.

I truly hope that this uses some sort of mechanism where the power or rate of recharge, or SOMETHING is based on battery voltage. Mainly because if something is rated to handle nine volts (6 x 1.5V), then there is a good likelihood that it can be retrofitted to run on twelve, 14.4, or maybe even more.

I'm liking this. In indoor stock fights like we have at my university, one team member can use it to pin down the other team while his buddies get into position. The slower rate of fire means that, though consecutively the shots are still too fast to reliably dodge, they come slow enough that you can fire for longer than, say, with an RF20 on automatic setting, and that's not even including the extra five darts. Come to think of it, this would have been invaluable several times today.

Although I would like to refrain from speculating about this gun I would like to point out something from that video. The attendee that was allowed to use it was holding it from the front hanging grip, leading me to speculate that the longshot cocking handle we saw is a locking mechanism for the ammo bin, either to hold it in, hold it shut during firing, or both.

Also I would like to point out that once the gentleman was done firing and handing it back, there was a considerable length of ammo chain hanging from the gun. At first I thought it was a secondary strap for the waist ala Aliens. As for rate of fire counting the pops, about 14 shots were fired over close to 4 seconds, so about 3.5 shots per second.

One thing I noticed if you guys look at 0:29 in the video you can see Titan lift his thumb up to hit that orange trigger on the top of the Vulcan. This may be hard do to for some of the younger nerfers. Looks as if it may be coming with a strap too.

I noticed that to perhaps just a button safety like on some aegs?

about 3.5 shots per second.

To put things in perspective, that's the speed of a slow WWII infrantry rifle.

If it is a safety button, just rip it out. It would probably be like half of the pieces in the longshot, just open it up and take them out.
